bro complaining about 600 mile break-in period. Bruh, that's completely normal, and you shouldn't even think of racing during those first crucial 600 miles.
All the complaints were insurance price, stock tuning, break in and not being able to control wheelies... loooool
Hell, the brake in on my Honda Monkey 125z is 600 miles. The break in is to seat the rings if the break in is not follow be ready for some oil burning heaven.
I bought a new one and agree with you, but damn its frustrating riding 600 miles with 1/3 of your new and expensive bike
Look up motor hard break in.
yeah he's never bought anything brand new with a super engine. Break in is super normal for engines.
I went to the BMW dealership and requested to testride a M1000R. To which they said i couldn’t because they didn’t have one to testride. So here’s what i did: i went to the KTM dealership, asked to testride a 1390 SuperDuke. «Sure» they said. So i testrode the new 1390, loved it, bought it. And i couldn’t be happier. It’s an animal and i LOVE it🥳
Love this bike and I've been interested in it but, after looking into all the different issues and things to address, my 22 RS is been real good to me after 7k miles in 8 months use.
Got a new R1250RS to compliment my 22 Tuono factory.
Definitely appreciate the good info that just doesn't get covered by traditional review sites. Thanks!
Thanks for being so truthful. I don’t think I want one anymore. I’ll just keep my Goldwing.
I had a 22 M-Sport here in Australia with a tune and full exhaust. Loved the bike and the wheelie thing can sneak up on you quick.
If I sat in the seat it would come up, I just stand on the pegs with full weight, but still keep your butt in the seat just touching whilst leaning over the tank and lean into the screen with your helmet, boom you will sling shot hard from 2nd gear without the front coming up (bumps excluded). I ran wheelie control for a bit while I got used to it and then dialed it back.
So many guys are focusing on wheelies, but very few focus on keeping it down and getting that hole shot launch.
This was a very informative video. Just got myself a 2022 Premium Package S1000RR. Got it 2nd hand, had the first service done myself.
The heat is unbearable for me. BT Moto should solve it. But your hints about stage 2 has given me clear decision. I m gonna go with stage 1, as I m not that hardcore of a rider.
Thanks, really appreciate this video.
Of course! Thanks for watching
Great vid, lots of info. Cars and bike “speed” very different also highway pulls and track are very different, as a advance group track rider, I’d suggest you try a track day instead of just highway pulls.
Im already knowing. Im not a straight line rider by anymeans
My absolute dream bike.
I will have to disagree with you that a factory flashed break-in settings is a bad thing. This actually solves the issue of people having no patience and wearing the motor prematurely from new.
Okay to solve the wheelie issue get a smaller rear sprocket and a retune to calibrate speedometer to that
Mine is getting delivered in 2 weeks from Germany, good review for the bike, Cant wait for it :)
Great video! Thanks for putting out that important info!
Thanks for the info man, with all this in mind what are your thoughts on the previous models such a 2018 ??
I’m in the market for a 2023 but with all this I’m kind of steering towards the previous models.
I’m new to BMW; I previously owned an R1 and a Gsxr
Great bikes tho
With all this said any input you may have on the previous models will be great 👍
Oh yeah we don't get the restricted bikes in Ireland either so once your 1,000km (600 miles) is done your good to go. I have kept my bike totally stock though as my 3 year warranty won't expire until January 2024 - gotta look after your warranty. Seen the comment below on the price increase but lets face it the value for money on the early models including my 2021 m package was insane so its no surprise that the BMW bean counters eventually woke up and upped the price / or cut various features to the options list.
i've needed to change the waterpump, the leak wasnt very bad, just some sweating. i rode 3000 miles with it, just had to check the level before i rode it.
I had a 22 M
Pain in the ass Bren tune etc
Not worth the hassle
The flat spot was unbelievable
On the track everything ran away from me
Until the $690 tune…screw that
Glad I sold it…I have had over 100 bikes
I don’t miss it at all!
Outstanding video sir!
64.559K views, 2.3K likes, 982 subs...obviously, this video is a favorite...and, it's a great video! So well-produced, in fact, that I liked, subbed, turned on all notifications, & commented...I would be very, very worried, about a potential backorder of 8 months on an OEM water pump, which is known to fail, & already showing signs of wear on your bike...still, too late for you to worry about it now...beautiful motorcycle, & very well-articulated video
Yeah I didn’t expect the video to hit so hard 😅
11:44 That bee fly by stole the spotlight for a second xD
I would be more worried about the engine blowing chunks and oill all over the road. Seems popular with the BMWs.
I knew the tax was low in the US but didn’t know it was as low as 7%. Here in Belgium it’s a whopping 21%!
Man 7% tax is too dang much to begin with I couldn’t imagine 21%
Dude u killed this video.
Not a sport bike guy, but this was interesting. Nice bike.
Nice video man! Moving from Delaware to Florida in a few weeks. Maybe me and the 08 zx10 will see you somewhere out there (big state so who knows lol) love the S1k. She’s in foreseen future ❤
Okay, I thought the insurance costs were high in Germany, but...
Bought mine 3 weeks ago and pay €870 / $977.58 a year
Great review! I did not know about the water pump heads-up.
Nice video! N31LE Pass by Caritas Motorsport one day! You need a Carita custom Dyno tune!
Dope vid especially split videos that was interesting 🦾🏁🏁🏁🏁
Thanks for sharing. FYI Germany is in recession and they are having issues with supply chain and manufacturing.
For real?😮
I was going to buy the new 23 BMW as well all decked out. However it’s 4 hours to a dealership. So then I asked my local dealerships and they all said they can not services it. But just basic stuff like oil change, chain tightening, add on accessories etc…but to do service maintenance they said no and they can’t release the restrictions for the bike once it hits service break in. So I decided to just purchase the 2023 Kawasaki ZX10R. Oh well.
Right. Only BMW dealerships can do warrantee claims and service items like that. Forgot to mention that!
I'm about to trade my 2020 panigale v4s for an M package s1k, I really want the brentune but I also really like the 3 year warranty...
Some dealers are offering the brentune at the 600 mile service because they know how horrible the oem tune is. Just ask to see if they do.
You only lose the warranty if they can PROVE the brentune was the cause of the issue
Bruh a S1000RR with full options is like 38k+€ here in Austria, 25k$ for this is crazy "cheap" 😂
Get the ECU tuned, Moore Mafia did my bike, woke it up !
Awesome review man, thanks 🙏
Not sure I like the new headlights
Looks Ducati ish
The old crazy eyes look was better
Fkn beast of bike tho fella ✌🏼Ride safe 🙏🏻
Why would you want to continually bounce off the rev limiter at 14k+ on a brand new engine? Just ride 600 miles and be done with it..
Who did that?
@@N31LE Well no one actually did that but you implied in the video you would have done that if you could have.
great content man. That bike is a beauty!!!! stay safe!
My riding friend, sound like you are not exactly happy with your BMW. Things to think about, all bikes have a 600 mile break in, it sucks. But I always follow the instructions. Think about the longevity of the bike. I have put 80,000 miles on a Honda and in the scheme of things what is 600 miles? A 4,000 RPM dead spot is stupid, Euro compient tune can be changed. One of my bikes, a 660 Tuono has a dead spot between 5,000 and 6,200 rpm but messing with the engine parameters I was able to smooth it out. Still I don't ride it under 6,000 in the canyons. 7,000 to 10,000 is the sweet spot and I have learned to ride it like that. I will never know what it is like to buy a $25 k plus bike but after owning two Aprilia's big $$$ for militance is part of the deal. The upside is you will have a bike that will run forever and ever. Give it some time you will fall madly in love with it! Ride safe
you can take them in for the break in service at 300 miles, you don't have to wait the 600.
Preciate the comment. Service handbook and every BMW dealer does 600 miles. Not sure where you got 300 from.
@@N31LE I havea M1000R and it says in the manual that you take it for break-in service between 300 - 600 miles. Not sure why the S1000RR would be different. I was impatient for the same reasons you mentioned so I figured I'd throw it out there, they did mine at 300ish miles.
Im gonna watch this agsin next time i cant sleep because this video will send you into a slumber
I have a hp4 comp, no restrictions at all, and also does not look so ugly Damn that windshield looks ugly😅
The 23 is a beast I only got a stage 2 from bt and all the bolt on and front wheel stays up
Thank you, I will hold back on getting on.
Holy smokes, I called my broker to get an insurance quote for this bike and it was $350/year Canadian
Definitely appreciate the breakdown. Now I know what to expect if I don’t die on my GSXR6
I went with a R1250GSA… and it is quick.
BMW does have test rides, but they are scheduled by BMW.
I'm no BMW fan but that r1250r that's what I was thinking about I like that I was thinking about once they come out with the R1300R next year see what it looks like. The only thing I worry about with BMW's is maintenance is a nightmare cash cow same with ducati's.
@@richardcerritelli9657 I think you mean the 1000RR… screaming fast street bike
If that 4k-8k dead spot is so bad, why wouldn't you just start a "race" at higher than 8k?
Not trying to be a dick.. but think about that question for a sec. This is a 1000cc. 1st gear at 8k stock wheelbase will loop you, 2nd gear at 8k is probably like 90-100mph.
Keep up the good work man loved the video
You hit dead center about water pump. I have 20 XR, 12k k miles, had mine replaced last Nov. Took them month to get it replaced.
Great video! Nice looking Bike.
What tinted Screen is this? Link to where to buy?
Every time he says heated grips, drink a shot.
A shot of juice is cool as well
I live in New Mexico and I’m 31 paid only 374 a year on insurance
Great video.
Whatever happend to quality. Never had issues like this with my old Hondas. Seems to be common across all brands now.
I’m now I’m my 3rd s1000rr absolutely love them. However bmw ruined the bike when they went to the new body design. When I was in the market to buy another s1000rr I actually looked at the m1000rr, I sat on the s1000rr for all of a minute and knew right away the ride was going to suck. You sit in a race position no matter which s1000rr you get with the new body style. Seat is very uncomfortable
600 mile break in period huh? If I did that on a grom. This will be a cake walk.
I hope not hurting anyone's feelings at this point in time, (of course all depends on how financially strong you are), but you forgot to mention that those motors should blow in between 20 to 25000 miles, depending how you broke in; usage; maintenance and etc..., and if it's a M model racing, that should happen around 5 to 6000 miles, and that was told by a BMW mechanic, so I had to hold on my decision. Regardless all that, the bike is a monster.
Kinda makes getting one for track days seem kind of like a bummer. =/. Sexy bike. Crazy power. Amazing electronics package. But if it grenades after year two what's the point? Unless you got money to light on fire.
Great video man ! How bad would you say the dead zone is for twisties and city riding ? Liked and Subbed !
It’s extremely noticeable within that rpm range. But it’s very unpredictable, once I got off the 500 mile breakin, installed the bren tune shortly after. The bike was compareable to riding a 600 it was atrocious.
Nice vid bud picking up the same model today
My friend about to buy this Bike i will show him this video . Than you
I love my $5000 FZ6R, which has no issues. Buy Japanese....lol. I don't need to do over 120 anyway. But to each his own. If you want a good quick bike that is bulletproof, just buy a used FZ1 for 5k. I did 150 mph on an FZ1 on 75 in Fort Myers. I don't know why anyone needs more than that. I never understood spending 20k + for a bike. But then again, I am a long wolf who doesn't care about racing anyone or impressing anyone.
I’ll be paying almost the same in insurance when I get my r7 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
i just wanna hear what all the "and a few other extras" are
What do you mean by stretching the bike?
Great video , very informative,
Liked and Subscribed. Enjoy the bike and ride safe brotha
Bro at high speeds did you find any vibrations in the pegs or handlebars?
Yeah handlebars. Figured my wheels weren’t balanced too good
Have you sat on a blade?I know everyone is screaming about this bike, looks good but I think I would shave that windshield down about a foot and go to your local Honda dealership and get you set up,, sounds like a death trap, good info thanks
lol have I ever sat on one.. look at my profile pic.. I OWN one 🤣🤣. It’s no comparison to the BMW
I'm so torn on flashing it...I just got it last weekend
Very informative video.
Mirror delete and blacked out screen is screaming out for an accident. Can't see forwards or backwards 😂
Very nice Ride
How do you like the E85 map…? Big difference…? I’m debating E85 for my 23 also… thanks
I like the E85 for the power but it’s very hard to roll race with on a stock swingarm bike. Hard to keep the front end down.
So happy with my M R Competition
Good info
Nice video bro
What windscreen is that? I just got my 2023 with a clear one the other day
Thank you!
Why are you complaining about break in. They do that so idiots don't buy it an shred their piston ring and cylinder walls. It so people don't destroy their bikes and blame bmw. Also bikes have power bands stop moaning.
What do you think about the used ones from early generations
I have had dozens of motorcycles. The most unrefined, one, the one with the most flaws in the design, the one I did not trust., The one that had dangerous designs that were not corrected before they pushed it out the door, was the only BMW I ever owned, my K 1200 LT
i’m one of those old guys that usually has three or four motorcycles at any one time. Sometimes I will have a motorcycle for just a few weeks, other times, I may have a motorcycle for 17 years. I felt that I deserve to have the best at least once. And I thought that BMWs were the best by reputation. So I bought the best BMW they made…
it had a smooth motor, I was not into high speed anymore, but I felt that the motor had adequate power. It wouldn’t even touch the power that my Honda GL 1800 Goldwing had.. The Goldwing had ridiculous power. Totally overdone in the horsepower area. I thought the BMW was gorgeous, I thought it was practical even though the six cd changer took up about a third of the left saddlebag, the irony there is, I do not turn on any radios or cbs or intercom’s or. or Bluetooth, when I’m on a motorcycle, I’m riding, I’m not listening or talking two other motorcyclists or my passenger..
I have had friends that have had BMWs. One of my friends, I drove his car home when he picked up his K 100 BMW back in the 70s when they first came out. We picked it up after we both got out of work one evening. He got on his bike and headed home and I was driving his car to his house.
I pulled in the driveway first, and he pulled in behind me and ran into the house. It was about 8:55 PM. I said well how is it? He said I gotta call the dealer to see if he’ll take this thing back.
he hated it. He spent the next seven months trying to sell it. He ended up trading it in at a loss on an FJ 1200..
i’ve had other friends that I’ve had more motorcycles and I have had that have had BMWs. K 75, K 100. They hated them too..
but I bought the K 1200 anyway.
just a few little nagging things
if I rode somewhere and use the side stand, and then came out of a restaurant half an hour later, I would start the bike, and it would pour white smoke out the exhaust, a lot of smoke
dealer said don’t worry about it it’s normal
The front end did not dive under breaking. Every other motorcycle dives. The energy goes into the fork springs under breaking, the oil and the forks controls the spring rebound. But not the BMW. That energy when you’re breaking has nowhere else to go but to make the motorcycle feel like you’re pushing around a refrigerator in a wheelbarrel.. I have had three Yamaha ventures, a Goldwing, and that BMW, K 1200 LT. All of those machines weighed almost 900 pounds. I never dropped any of my Venture’s or my Goldwing. I dropped that BMW in slow slow parking lot maneuvers twice because of the no field electric brakes, and the anti-dive front end that no other company has copied.
The windshield, you have to look through it because it’s so tall on the K 1200 LT. It is so distorted it’s dangerous, especially at night or in the rain.
around the world, BMW was having final drive failures. There was one picture on the Internet of a final drive that had really failed inside, and it broke out a chunk of the housing. The bike was sitting there with a hole in the final drive in the gear lube was on fire… I had a collision with a deer at 70 miles an hour. I didn’t go down. It was a rotisserie replacement of all the fairing parts and the frame under the fairing in the headlight area, the price of the parts alone was $5500 in 2010.
The cost of the mirrors that both flew off the bike and went straight to China, because they were not tethered with little cables like Honda does on the ST in the Pacific coast. These were pieces of glass mirror in plastic housings. In 2010, each of those mirrors was $492. After tax, that’s almost $1100 for two lousy mirrors.
I knew one of the mechanics at a BMW shop. I stopped in to get a new oil filter and I saw him working there. I was a salesman at a Honda motorcycle dealership in the 80s and he was one of the mechanics there at that Honda shop.
I stopped to shoot the breeze with him and talk about old times. And on his lift table, he was working on a BMW K 1200 LT. He had off the trunk, the bags, the seat, the rear wheel, the swingarm, and the transmission..
I asked him, what’s up with this? He said the slave cylinder leaked onto the clutch, I’m replacing the clutch and the slave cylinder. know anyone that works on their own motorcycles knows that to replace a clutch on a Japanese motorcycle is may be a two hour job and the clutch plates, the fiber ones and the metal ones might cost you $200..
so when he told me that that clutch replacement job is going to cost the owner about $4500, that took my breath away. That was the 2010 price. Now 14 years later, how much is that job, $10,000?
That day I was talking to that mechanic, I was in there to pick up an oil filter. One oil filter for my BMW K 1200 LT, $26… how much is that filter today? 14 years later, $52??
The back brakes on my K 1200 LT squealed as though you would think that the metal was being cut on a brake lathe.. it was head turning loud when I would use the back brake. You would swear that my pads were all the way down to the rotor.
I told the dealer about it. He said he could fix it for $750 plus labor.
I told him I would do it myself. What do I have to do. He said you have to buy an aftermarket, rotor and pads…
I ended up just changing the pads and putting silicone behind the pads, that helped some, but I actually forced myself to not use the back brake at slow speeds. Which I did not like to do on that monster, because I liked to have my brake hand free to finesse the throttle, while I was slipping the clutch and steering the motorcycle, while holding it up at slow speeds, complicated by the fact that the front end did not dive under breaking..
I could go on and on, but I just wanted to point out that, a lot of the BMW owners that are honest will admit, they are not nearly as good as a Japanese bike.
apparently, a lot of people are catching on to that. The snob appeal does not have as much weight when they see how much these things cost and how good they are not compared to the Japanese.
I say that, because, there were three BMW shops within an hour of my home, now they are all gone, Out of business..
at one time BMW set the standard for dependability, high mileage, long distance, riders..
That was when they made air cooled twins..
BMWs sure ain’t what they used to be
How do you see when you tuck?
I could never buy a brand new bike unless it’s selling over MSRP reliably maybe and i can get it for MSRP
I went from a Panigale to this and couldn't be happier.
My buddy has both and the panigale nets him 9 more mph on the track straight. He’s kinda let down with the bmw power I think.
Base model is were is at!
Does it have heated grips, tpms sensors and cruise control though?
I think it does 🤔 maybe i should repeat it again for good measure?
So do pistons come with a 2 ring design like the M. Seems guys are having break in issues with M’s
Good information thank you
Which tune do you recommend most? Brentune, Carita, Woolich, or just take it to Chris Moore? Trying to get the best of the best.
Bren. Haven’t tried the others. But from my experience and the stories I heard, Bren is the only legit choice for BMWs. Everyone else is a risk
@@N31LEyeah I see many bikes with bren. Idk what Chris Moore uses but he’s so popular on TH-cam. I only heard of carita on your channel. Not much info on them anywhere unfortunately but I saw a vid the power they produced seemed insane.
Is the Head the same on all packages?
As long as it’s a 23 yes
If you go to an aftermarket flash to get rid of that 4000 to 8000 dead spot, doesn't that void your warranty?
Depends on your dealership. When you bring the bike in for service, it’s recommended to flash it back to stock per tuner instructions
Shoulda got a Kawi Bro.
Did you get the carbon fiber wheels?
No sir
Your windshield looks like it’s ready to stop a category 5 storm. Dam that’s huge.
😂😂💀
didnt even notice dam u right
🤣🤣🤣
When your hitting 180 that fast you need it or you'll get ripped off the thang!
@@tylerwiberghs it’s the exact same size and dimensions as the oem windshield just tinted 🤷🏽♂️ can’t please everyone i guess
The break in protocole seems really good to me, at least when you're buying a used one, you know the previous owner wasn't messing with it
ye, kinda idiotproof
This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. I agree with you, the break in is no big deal. He doesn't understand tight tolerances on high performance equipment. He needs Jap bikes with with loads of variation. Then he can just go out and thrash the tits of it without concern out of the box. I mean who the F complains about only getting to 9k in break in rotfl. What a clown, then it's of for 4k of the rev range it has a massive flat spot and "needs" re-tuning. rotfl. This guy is a clown. He needs to watch Motoamerica racing or something, then he will see how his flat spot on the stock bike really is. They race these in stock form, this guy is an internet genius and there are loads of them about. I have all brand of bike, including an R1 and this guy is just errrrrrrr in need of a bike less sophisticated lets say. Massey Ferguson or John Deere is more his speed lol.
I could outrun that bike with a Kawasaki 400 cc 2cylinder 1976 model *one extremely cheap mod*
Will easily do 80mph in 2nd gear you'll be like nahh fk till you make the bet 🔥💀 no nitrous though I promise
@@americanlivesmatter-BmanWild who cares, who asked?
I only buy Japanese bikes from now on, after owning a Ducati I will never buy anything from Europe. The big 4 from Japan is the best bang for your buck
That is the brutal truth.
H2 it is.
What was wrong with the Ducati?
Same@@coyotes281
@@coyotes281 in simple terms, european bikes can only be serviced/repaired by their respective brand professionals, whereas japanese brands purposely makes bike in such a way that anyone can do it, thus reducing the servicing/repair charges by a lot. Plus they have been tuning the same engine for decades, and its way reliable than any european liter class
I don't think you can call a Zx10R a low tier bike haha, both have similar power and acceleration speeds and build quality and reliability are arguably better on kawasaki.
Oh man you took that personally lmfao. There's always at least one of you guys getting your feeling hurt.
@@everythingflytv507 Oh no I didn't. I'm just making a remark on a statement he said. Not everything is a fight or a discussion lol.
@@everythingflytv507 Feels like ure projecting.
I owned a 2004 first Gen ZX-10R for almost 20 years and never had a problem with her. Now I have a 23’ for the same reason, Kawasaki’s are bullet proof. Don’t know much about BMW other than they make nice cars.
@@cain772 yeah japanese bikes are impenetrable, to make them stop working you need to literally throw them a bomb. That's why I said you can't call a Zx10r a low tier bike, not because I hurt my feelings, I don't have a ZX10R, personally I side with Yamaha as its always been my poster brand since I was a kid. BMW makes nice stuff but they're almost never reliable, all S1000R before the current generation were timer bombs and yeah they were the fastest for a while but for average consumers none of that matters if won't work lol. Same happened with BMW cars, not very reliable, it's just german things. Now BMW isn't the speed king, the power king and they never were the reliable king, arguably they aren't the looks king but this is not saying they are bad obviously, I'd love to have an S1000R but if I had to only choose one supersports it wouldn't be my #1 not even #3 choice because it would be be #1 R1 #2 ZX10R #3 2023 RRR Fireblade SP #4 S1000RR.
The USA bikes are torque restricted and BMW can map it out. The UK bikes dont have the flat spot. That really sucks.
Pollution restrictions unfortunately
@@N31LE Thanks for clarifying because I couldn't come to any logical conclusion as to why a manufacturer would tune an engine in that manner. Cheers from OZ
Should have done more research. Deadspot has been on all usa double R's since 2020 . Also it's not a drag bike . It's made to go around a track not in a straight line
