From 1993 this is Les Dawson's final appearance on TV. Les was my favourite comedian; he always made me laugh, and thanks to video recordings he always will.
This is a master class in ad libbing, timing and not stealing the show by Les. No wonder it was his widow's favourite TV performance by him. Absolute class.
What a great double act Les at his finest and if your reading this Penny you were indeed a great sport - thank you both for making me laugh. I keep watching this clip whenever I feel a bit down it cheers me up no end. x
Penny, you were such a great sport to do this. And Les? Brilliant! And now it is all on film and remembered as a diamond memory forever. Les and Cilla are now gone, but this moment is immortalised forever for Penny. I could see Penny looking a little nervous when she was called out, but backstage I bet Les put her at her ease by telling her to just go for it, and what a performance. Just the best.
The great Les Dawson was from the old school of comedy, the likes of whom we'll never see again. He was a master at his trade. Loved him dearly. His knowledge of the English language was phenomenal. He was always a professional, kind and dignified gentleman.
"Remember where you saw it first, because it may never ever happen again." Prophetic words from Cilla most unfortunately. Les Dawson - a superb comedian very much missed!
Remember where you heard it first, you may never hear it again. Aww poignant words due to it being his las performance before he died. RIP Les.. you always brought a smile to us.....
Oh my word, that was a classic act and remember seeing it first time around!! Nearly ended myself!! Well done to Penny for taking part and to the wonderful Les Dawson. RIP Cilla x
It's the older lady in the audience at the end who is almost doubled up crying with laughter that just says it all. He was hilarious and such a star!
I'm here January 2021 laughing like a drain. For the first time in months......... Thank you
Les Dawson still makes me howl with laughter. A real comic legend.
