    For what it's worth I sincerely appreciate the fact that you are not filthy mouthed in this, thank you! I'm getting ready to replace the plenum on my 1995 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale and this looks like it will help a GREAT deal. :-)

    I dropped the broken piece of those broken elbow into the engine while trying to pick out it. So I really appreciate you making this video note I can get in there

    Just replaced upper intake manifold on my 03 impala 6 months ago. Should have replaced the gaskets on the lower one, cause now its leaking coolant and I think oil is leaking out one side as well. Wish I would have seen this video sooner. well time to tear it apart again. Thanks for the video, should make it easier for me this time.

    Very helpful video Mr. Ratchets, Thank you!
    currently helping my son do his 97 lesabre w/3.8, your video & info here provides the most detailed steps/info to even consider doing this job when compared to other utube videos!
    found out today upon disassemble that only one of our tensioner elbows is plastic(was`nt leaking yet), the other elbow on tensioner housing(closet to firewall) is metal, it looks to be molded as part of the tensioner housing and wondering how I`m supposed to change elbow if its not removeable?,
    luckily we we`re able to wiggle(though took alot of effort & time) ours out without nipple breaking off in intake, diving in tmrw to begin fuel rail & intake removal, changed all plugs 1st and those rear 3 were fairly difficult imho. Again, thank you so much for helping us all out with these 3.8s!

    My 01 lesabre has the same engine. That plastic coolant elbow literally exploded. Replaced it with aluminum. Now I’ve gotta replace the intake gaskets because that plastic warps after a while

    Ready to throw out 97 regal. Assumed it was a blown head gasket. After some research, thought it might be because of EGR pipe that distorted or cracked plenum. Took plenum off, no distortion. Looks like the coolant ports in plenum were severely restricted and the small channel in the throttle body was also clogged. For sanity sake I did my own version of a leak-down test and head gaskets looked good. Putting it together now. Hope it works. Bought Felpro gaskets. Pictures on internet showed red rubber/silicone. Got blue. Wondering if Felpro put someone else's junk in their box. Felpro was about 3 times the price of the "blue" ones I saw. Hate it when the substitute cheaper parts.

      Got new plenum from a donor Grand Prix engine with low miles. Looks like new. Used a pick to clean out the channel in the throttle body.

    Could've just took the upper manifold and throttle body off as one piece.

    Take ground off FIRST. If your wrench hits the body no problem. Bad news the other way around

      Gotta love people who drain dex cool then add green, then wonder why everything starts leaking. The last 5 water pump jobs Ive done all had non recommended coolant in them.

    there are two things wrong here one is you always take the power side off not ground u can find a ground anywhere and second you never reuse your injector o rings always replace them

    • @richardwhitaker4148
      @richardwhitaker4148 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes and No. You were right on the o-rings. Negative first to take off and last to put on because the flow electrons. The last circuit to be connected in any electrical loop is the negative lead to the battery so that you don't surge capacitors and resistors through the circuit. Sounds like somebody should go back to school!

    • @lisat9707
      @lisat9707 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Emmanuel hernandez won't turn over. or turns over but stutters and dies? Only thought is if it stutters and dies is you have coolant you need to Purge out. from trading lots stuttering and crappie Idleing are symptoms of the intake manifold leaking coolant. when you took it apart you may have got more inside than you had before but it didn't get cleaned out. Check out the Pontiac Bonniville Forums on Their how to replace this gasket they go over how to clean the coolant out from where it shouldn't be

    • @lisat9707
