Namjoon's promotion is crazy when you think about it. He has all the confidence in the world to specifically curate his "promotion" as an art enthusiast. He created a very beautiful art with that DIA Beacon performance, a nod back at his early career with Rolling Hall, with no unnecessary interview, and he knew his album would sell. His music would sell.

A lot of solo stans. Some "Army" also sent ad trucks to Hybe to protest BTS renewing their contracts. Solo fans also wanted V sign with companies from the US. All the talk about sabotages and how Hybe is an evil company that is threatening the boys into renewing their contracts while actively sabotaging their solo albums/work is annoying.

Each member has a very specific vision for their career. Jin wanted a one and done somg that was a love letter to ARMY. A breezy song with an upbeat energy. Suga created a new chapter in his AgustD journey, very much in his vein of hip hop. Such an arc RM wanted to create pure art. He departed the farthest from the BTS sound aside from V. Lush emotional storytelling and lyricism. JHope brough a new hiphop intensity that you can tell he always wanted more of. A harder...more gritty edge that really changed his overall image. He grew up and showed us. Striking. Jimin was creating str8 Kpop. It followed the vein of it very closely. It was the most BTS-esque of the 7, very fun, energetic. Very Jimin! JK wants to be a pop star. His songs are targeted specifically for a global audience. The pop/rnb influence is clear and he is perfect for that genre. He wants the biggest possible reach. V made music he likes to listen to. The bluesy jazz sound is in line with his vibe. His sound departs probably the furthest from BTS. It limits your audience, but its what he desired. All the solo fans need to calm the eff down and use their brain instead of their egos when looking at this stuff.
Face is anything but straight k-pop lol, every single song on that album is from a different genre while I do agree he is the one who had the most BTS's essence, maybe because of the sheer level of versatility of his songs but it wasn't kpop, and BTS is and have always been barely kpop. And Face-off by Jimin is more r&b than anything Jk has released so far(excluding my time, now that's a proper R&B song), both seven and 3D are the definition of mainstream generic pop(not staying it's bad or good, that's personal opinion).

Face-off is a quintessential rnb song with trap influence, Like Crazy is literally Synth pop and straight 80s, Alone is rnb, Dive is bedroom pop influenced interlude, SMF2 is a legit Hip-hop track, and letter is a pop ballad. I have been in kpop for a long enough time to know that there's a difference between the kpop(industry) and kpop as a genre. Face is not kpop at all. SMF2 straight up sounds like something out of MBDF by Kanye West, hence the nonsensical hate Jimin got from kpoppers for using 30s of autotune. And NSYNC and their music were the definition of generic. Both seven and 3D were songs given to JK which can literally be given to any other artist and not much would change.
Jin's Astronaut achieved SO MUCH with just 9 days' notice, no instrumentals, just two versions, limited shipping, no US promo, no playlisting or radio play. Jin's power is insane. I'm desperately waiting for his full album, I absolutely love his songs & vocals.

Thanks for the outstanding research! I've tried to explain this to many people. You cant compare apples to oranges. Each MEMBER is different. Like a lot of young BTS fans don't like V's new album. It's because it wasn't made for you... it was made for the RnB and Jazz lovers, who typically ARENT young teens. I am 53yrs old and I like everyone's solo project. I may not like a certain person's genre of music but I will support them anyways. I am not a solo stan. All 7 of the members did what THEY felt comfortable in doing. Love the research and I will be directing those naysayers to this video.
That's why she explained, that each is targeting their audience. That's why each member will succeed differently according to their audience. But I am happy each is doing well, but the ungrateful fans will very be happy cause they are just demanding rather than accepting what's given
This is literally the behaviour everyone is meant to have. You dont have to like everything that bts and thats okay, because bts is so diverse that there’s something for everyone. And that is what makes the special and that is the reason why we support them and make sure that their music reaches the audience it is intended for. @sof1015 but let's be realistic, music is a business. Sometimes you need to do music that trends to gain money with a bigger audience, but doesn't mean you are less of an artist. At least the army know what bts is capable of doing.
I'm not a "jazz or rnb lover" but Taehyung definitely made me into one. All his songs grew on me randomly, lol. I started to listen to it when I'm driving, writing my schoolwork, or just relaxing. My appreciation for the album started with love me again, for us, blue, slow dancing and finally rainy days and I HATED rainy days...now I cannot go a day without playing it. This album is one of my favourite albums ever thanks to V.

Out of curiosity I started watching “Hobipalooza” fully expecting to stop after the first few minutes…1+hours later, I was so blown away by Hobi’s ability to command the stage, by his rap skills, his dance and moves as always so supreme! I was captivated and that made me do a 180 and now I appreciate and LOVE BTS rap line in particular (saw Suga in the US live and on the big screen) and the rap genre in general! I joke that it took 3 rappers rapping in a language I don’t understand to make me appreciate those that rap in a language I DO understand! I have loved and supported every member’s solo projects 💯 ! Right? So many of us have been discussing why they're not 'K-pop' anymore despite being from Korea, for years. WE get it. And they never have been typical K-pop anyway. (Not to mention, K-pop rejected us completely...) But that's the core of the problem, isn't it? They're going full-international and they're gathering a lot of new fans...but the new fans are not ARMYs (yet), don't know BTS's history or discography (yet), and auto-label anything that comes out of Korea as 'K-pop'. And unfortunately, some of these 'fans' aren't ever going to get to the 'yet', because all they're interested in is the English-lyrics music. 'I just LOVE BTS!' I think you have that some what wrong. We know BTS are more than Kpop but still Kpop most of us aren't even Kpop fans. We know BTS use multi genres of music and we love that it what makes them different one of the things that makes them stand out. We know each member has different musical tastes on top of what they have in common that's means we get a wild spectrum of styles and tastes. It's wonderful when they do their own thing and when they all bring something to the table to make an amazing musical mix. When we go through BTS albums the tracks are not all the same that's the beauty of a BTS album. ARMY understands they are global Super Stars however I'm sure there are people anti's especially who don't want BTS to be global superstars as they overshadow their kpop groups. They will often pretend to be BTS fans and many of them are kpop fans in general eg they belong to multi fandoms and are always telling ARMY we should also support other Kpop Groups. mmmm strange as no one says oh you like this Rapper than you have to also like and all Rappers or you like that pop artist so have to also love this pop artist.. ermmm No sorry that's not how liking a group works.
@@tetete5039 Not being shipped, or not arriving when expected? Once it leaves the company, it's all on the shipping process, and the global shipping process this year is giving VERY poor performance. The wrong credits across all platforms sounds like someone glitched it before distribution, as opposed to a single platform deliberately removing a credit in order to reduce numbers. That one you can lay solidly on the editor, whoever they were. But I really don't think a record-breaking debut can be considered sabotaged, and it's pretty foolish to assume that any company would *want* one of it's most popular and lucrative members to do poorly. It'd be more damaging to the company than to the member.

@@nat4618 first of all why do you think *I* am the one in charge of whether members get #1s or not 😭 a #1 on the BBH100 is NOT easy and depends on several factors: firstly the Billboard Hot 100 ONLY tracks US streams, sales and radio (and I'm not from the US so nothing to do with me lmaoo). So that's a huge chunk of BTS' audience cut out. Secondly, Billboard are notoriously corrupt and shift the impact more onto radioplay (which is controlled by huge companies that illegally pay-for-play) as well as coincidentally filtering huge amounts of streams and sales for BTS songs like we saw for the fall of Like Crazy. Those chart positions rely more on music industry privilege than anything, which is why BTS only achieved their first #1 in 2020, which is pretty recent for being the biggest band in the world since 2017. THEN after all of that is the reason why boracity made this video - what audience the music is directed at within the US. A large part of achieving a hit relies on the general public rather than dedicated ARMYs, and like it or not the general public are passive listeners whose ears have been trained by the industry to respond to certain sounds. Those sounds rarely (although this has been changing recently because of tiktok, but very slowly) include indie, rock, hip hop, slow songs or any kind of overly experimental music. Many of BTS' work both as a group and as solo artists fall under this category, on top of both the language barrier with Korean songs and the cultural barrier/stigma that they're unfortunately still fighting. So you see, it's really not that simple. ARMYs have been fighting for BTS to get their well-deserved recognition in Western music and on Western charts for YEARS, and for new fans to come in and undermine all of that, the fact that we quite literally came from nothing, to say that if it's so easy why don't we do it for all the members, is disrespectful. The world doesn't work that way. And I haven't even touched on the intentions of the boys themselves - sure, they want Western recognition, but they are also musicians who want to have a long-lasting impact and create timeless music (Namjoon and the others have said this many times). The fact that you choose to selectively listen to them to fit your narrative is not very ARMY-like of you, but I'd guess you're probably a diet solo or a solo anyway. I know EXACTLY what you people do, you try to place the blame on ARMYs for their "favouritism" to get us to fight each other when it's not about favouring one member at all. You can't fool me. I don't take criticism about favouritism from someone whose entire fan identity is ignoring the boys' love for each other to create their own agenda.
@@rkivelover Your response is so AMAZING! I live in the US and the radio stations play the same 10-25 songs on repeat. Almost at the exact time every day. They may sprinkle in a "throwback" song, but it's only during specific times of the day. I have called in to a radio station that was playing "My Universe" one time because I was SHOCKED! I also heard "Seven" once recently and was again shocked. Happy, but shocked. Unfortunately, I cannot claim to be an OG ARMY, but from all of the content that I've seen, they seem very sincere and focused. I find it hard to believe that they didn't have any input into how their music was promoted, packaged, etc. They also seem to be very respectful and do their best to not bring shame to their families, the group, the company or their country, but I've seen them speak up/speak out about things that they didn't think fit BTS. I've watched many @boracitymagazine videos and have always been impresed with the amount of detail and research that has been put into each one of them. It is hard for me to see some of these comments because I think, did this person even watch the video? Have they even seen any of the other @boracitymagazine videos!?!?!
So true in namjoon's case. I became an BTS ARMY just because of Indigo. When i listen people change pt 2, Lonely, and wild flower i shocked. It's the type of music which conveys my feelings which is not mainstream. I want some intimacy in music. Just because of RM i got to know BTS. Now am an ARMY and love them all. One last thing RM is the first rapper who attracts my attention otherwise i used to hate rap.
People should learn that there are hundreds of music genres and not all of them are mainstream and not everyone has to like the same genre. And that makes music versatile, that makes BTS chapter 2 beautiful as each of them pursue different genres to highlight their personal colors, 7 unique pieces. Sadly, solo stans do not respect their individuality or appreciate what content they are blessed with in the limited remaining time with BTS, they only look to the grass on the other side and obsessed about other member's success. They talk as if they could run the company better, accuse the company of paying sh*t, making up lies and harrass other members if they dare standing out. What's the point? Each genre needs different marketing tactics based on its targeted audience. When will people start listening to their music out of enjoyment instead of responsibility, obsession and spite?
I guess it's not really about the promotions that they want clarifications about. The promos, of course, the members chose them. But how do you explain the clear disparity in distribution? Late shippings? No restock? Late digital store? HYBE could have done so much better.
Like Crazy is synth pop, The Astronaut is pop rock, Seven is UK garage pop. All 3 are pop songs but guess which song got proper playlisting and radio play? And guess which song you all are calling "gp friendly" while completely ignoring the 2 other songs?
@allisfair yes, the astronaut was shipped to the US more than a month after release, 3D had 80k on stock while fans had to beg them to restock Like Crazy and the initial stock for it was like 20 or 30k? There's clearly a difference in treatment
Each of them have their own vision as solo artists. Army should just trust them to do what the think is best for them and what makes them happy. Also, i can imagine them discussing about how "boring" it'd be for us if all 7 did the same exact type of promotions. All 7 albums in a matter of a year and a half being released in the same exact way. And i'm so glad the hype around his album didn't fade at all which just proves that with more promotion it'd be even more of a huge success. I was just talking under someone else's comment in here about how the management for each member might not be the exact same and we can't possibly know how BigHit deals with that. If it's different production/art director or if it's an entirely different team still within BigHit. We do know Taehyung worked with Min Heejin and Jungkook's working more closely to Scooter Braun, and we can understand their promotional styles way easier than the other members because we have this information. All we know is that Jimin said he chose to work with in-house BigHit producers. I also think it's important to point out that 9 days IS a very short period but Jimin worked /so hard/ every single day, if you've watched his behind the scenes. Set Me Free pt. 2 required so much from him especially, he had the most difficult song to promote out of all the members, the choreo is insane. So in regards of his health it could possibly be too much to extent his promotional schedule, but that's just a guess. We do have his documentary coming up and award shows season (maybe even new music because of those "#ThisIsJimin" videos) so we'll hopefully see more of Jimin before he enlists. It's a learning process, Chapter 2 is new not only for us but for BTS and their teams. I choose to be understanding and supportive, it can't be easy to do what they're doing.

I'm so new to BTS! I have only listened to them for the past month. As I'm so new, I started with their solo music and I felt in love with each and every one of them. It really showed me their personalities and their kind of individual art, as I was getting to know them in their shows like Run BTS, In the soop, past interviews, etc. With that being said I LOVED THIS VIDEO so so soooo much. It is so well done and it shows your admiration and respect for this artist. I know I'm new (or baby army) but I love them so much and it makes me so happy when I see other people who love them as well and put their effort, passion and talent in giving good and respectfull information about them. RM's album is amazing. I am from the US, but the interviewers in the US usually ask the dumbest superficial questions. The US is not the end all of music. I trust BTS to do what they want to do. We can support them all while still having a favorite genre style. We are allowed to feel a certain way as well.

I would like to say that in one of Jungkook's recent weverse lives he said that he wanted to be "mainstream" and "a big popstar" as a solo artist. So the aggressive western marketing in the form of radio and playlisting similar to butter and dynamite that is being done is in line with the vision he has for himself as a solo artist. He is not being favored by hybe. People reaally think that if other bts members demand mainstream promo from hybe, the company will ignore them?? That's ridiculous. They are hybe's main moneymakers

All the BTS members reflect on the type of music they listen & enjoy, same with Jungkook he has alway leaned towards mainstream artists Justin Bieber, Charlie Puth, Ariana Harry Styles, etc. You can also see the type of music he listens & covers in live, most of them are trendy songs or from the mainstream artists like Stay, Hold on, Falling, we don't talk anymore etc. I've also seen people complaints about Jk singing in English just like BTS when they did dynamite, I always wonder why people don't have a problem when BTS or Jk sing in Japanese did they think all asian language are same but have a problem when they sing in English, they also don't have problems when they cover English songs by Western artists it only happens when they release their own English song. Now in 2023 we really need to end this discourse and except that BTS are global artists & they can sing in whatever language they choose to sing whether it is Korean, Japanese, English or Spanish (Chicken Noodles Soup)

I guess what people find frustrating is that HYBE could have done so much better and more. When Jimin released Like Crazy, it was so successful that he could have made another week in the top 10 had HYBE did more for him. His albums were never restocked. And don't tell me this is on Jimin. For sure Jimin said, "Okay! Don't restock my albums." Yes he definitely said that 😬 When some people on Twt asked Hybe to atleast put LC on TTH, everyone was saying "You're going against what BTS stands for" and suddenly when JK had all the playlisting, radio support and ads, everyone was celebrating. The hypocrisy is just so astounding. This debate over the solo promotions is not more about the members but about the company and how "Armys" treated each solo release. If you can't accept that there is a clear disparity between the support of each release, you're definitely delusional or maybe just a heavily JK biased.
The only thing I would emphasize is that Jack In The Box did count for charts- it just didn’t count for the US Billboard 100 or 200 charts! We need to be careful that we do not hold western charts as more superior than others such as Circle or Gaon which is exclusive to South Korea.
Totally agree with you that the US chart is not the only one that matters. Actually, in my country UK, Kpop physical albums do not count for our charts because the randomised photo cards disqualify them. So even if Hobi had released a CD initially, it wouldn't have made any difference in the 3rd biggest music market in the world (unless they took out all the photo cards, stickers etc). His digital albums (from iTunes, Amazon, Qobuz, 7digital etc.) did count, though.

@@ParkingAjamal He didn't have a digital store for More, unlike other mmbr's singles, and the digital store he got for JitB was 5 days late and only came because fans (mostly solos) complained so fiercly to geffen records. To think you are making some sort of gotcha to @ilyhsk1 to prove that people are lying about how JitB was mismanaged by admitting that the digital store was late unlike every other release (even ots only got a digital store 2 or 3 days before release) by other members is rather daft. There were varying pre sale time periods for other releases digital stores (while they were allowed digital stores) but none were as badly handled as JitB. At the VERY least the way JitB was handled (the multiple mismanagement issues) should have had the purples up in arms fighting for hb to apologise and do better by j-hope, all other fandoms be they kpop or western artists would have done so. Instead purples attacked anyone who did and supported hb instead of j-hope and to this day the majority of the fandom refsue to acknowldege that it was at the very least mismangaged. Heaven forbid the purple mob ever stand up for and fight for j-hope. You haven't in 10 yrs, you never will.
How some yall will still find a way to put down all the members that aren't your favorite by calling your fav the most talented, most deserving and greater than the others is beyond me. Why are yall making it a competition when its clear they all have different styles and target audiences? There's literally no need to pit them against each other. Their goals are different and if they all wanted the same thing, they'd be doing that. It's not that they can't, it's that they each want something different. Hence, the different promotion strategies.

as a girl who has been into boy groups for years, not just kpop groups- one of the biggest things you learn is that every member has their own style and target audience. as an army for 6 yrs, nothing about anything they did confused me because most of the members already had pretty defined styles and ways. only thing that actually shocked me (not in a bad way) at first was jk’s explicit lyrics and it was only because he’s never done a song like that before but like he said in his live “how old am i?”. jungkook is a grown man and i think one of the reasons some army don’t like his explicit music is because they’re used to his cookie cutter golden maknae baby act that he gave us when he was 20. they just refuse to let that man be grown, he’s not a kid anymore. anyways, i personally love all of the members solo projects and if you are a lover of music and art too then you’d love their music for what it is and not how they’re promoted or where it charts.
Explicit and dirty are different things. The irony with JK is that this explicit version is also very dirty and he as a non-native speaker can not understand how it sounds for a native. Having explicit lyrics to express yourself is fine. In the context of the song it was f-ing disgusting. I wish him all the best, but I couldn't listen to the song.

It's not even about his age or refusing to let him grow. I feel like this hasn't really been said, but most ARMYs really values the meaningful and deep lyrics of BTS music, so Jungkook having a sexual/dirty song is too shocking and other ARMYs are just simply not comfortable with it. They just can't like it. I mean, BTS has an obvious horny teen song before when they were just rookies which could be deemed daring/controversial to kpop. But despite that, "War of Hormone" is still well loved since it's a fun song and even relatable to others, especially that it's written by the members. "Seven" is obviously just too different since it's written by westerners that's why it didn't feel like himself. His own written solo songs before have meanings and emotions, but "Seven" is so westernized and mainstream just like common western artists who sings/raps about sex all the time, that's why other ARMYs find it disappointing when his solo debut should have been more special.

I have personally thought that each solo project really fits the personality of the artist... And I think your breakdown and explanation makes all the sense in the world. All they asked of us was to support and trust them... So that's not hard to do! Face is easily one of the best albums made and released in the whole BTS universe. The fact that it's so personal yet so cohesive, Jimin is so underestimated for his musicality and versatility, this man has always released bangers and every single song he has released so far is so different from each other while still having that Jimin effect. It's thought provoking.

I had been waiting for Jimin to release his own music for years, not only did he meet my expectations but he exceeded them in every way imaginable. The list is literally endless, it's not a propaganda. As someone who's been in ARMY for a long time the changes our fandom had is tremendous and it is progressive as well. I can see our fam growing into a stage we no longer stress on Billboard, Grammy and streams, just loving and supporting our boys bring us the success. This is not some rookie group we're talking about here, this is Global Superstar BTS. They are NOT at the mercy of the company for their promotions. They're fully, creatively involved in all aspects. Why are you so annoying. Jimin decide his own promotion. Each bts members was given a budget. They decided their own promotion and told bighit what they wanted. Bighit never does more then 3 music videos for solo. Jimin did a callobations song with taeoyong from big bang. Plus he had to callobations for fast and furuos.

i think some people forget that while bts is a group with 7 members--each with different sounds and genres to offer, they also each have different goals and ambitions for their own solo music. i say we trust them with the actions they are taking with their art

I truly don't understand this narrative of thinking that you as a fan understand the ins and outs of the music industry better than these people who have literally been in it for so many years, and who have come out on top. I agree with FACE ending too fast as Jimin got only 9 days for promotion but the album is a masterpiece achieving many records and Hybe should have promoted for more days but though it's ended fast, Like Crazy still maintaining the impact even after 6 months which was also #1 on BB Hot 100, Jimin being the first K-Soloist to do that FACE got 1.2B streams being the fastest album by a K-Soloist. Everything proves Jimin's musicality and I am sure he has a bright futire in music industry.
It’s called a solo project because it allows the to create and promote according to their preferences. Do we really think we know their preferences better than them? Let’s all grow up and show some respect for their decisions and support them more than ever before!

It always makes me laugh when I see comments like "The company isn't doing anything, -insert member- is doing it all themselves". Because who the heck do these people think set up all the promos in the first place? Do these solos think Taehyung wandered into that cave and casually asked a random worker if he could set up his mic and cameras? Anyway I've said it multiple times, but I will NEVER forgive those "solos" who made Hoseok feel bad for "not doing enough", to the point where he felt he had to apologise, especially knowing he always had the plan to release a physical copy after he enlisted. Their promotions were so very 'them'. The fact that there are people who can't see that is baffling. If 'you' feel that way then you clearly don't pay attention.
Thank you for this discussion. I am new relatively to the whole K-pop scene, and certainly to BTS. A few months ago I was hospitalized and mini mini hours of sleeplessness and boredom. I found myself searching through TH-cam and stumbled on some of the early BTS videos. I am fascinated by the absolute passion, energy, artistic development, loyalty and dedication to their crafts that these young people have displayed over all these years. they have certainly deserved every award they have received, and every acclamation of praise for their dedication to their families, brotherhood, and country. The fact that they all have represented their company, their communities, their country in so many ways is astounding. Each of them deserve the title Icons for all they have shared, and continue to share with the world. One of my favorite videos is that one that records the speech at the United Nations. The message was clear, heartfelt, and so impressive. I have been confused why anyone would not see these young people as individuals, with their talents, dreams and hopes, continue to share with the whole world what they have to offer. I am blessed as is the rest of the world for their part in it. Again, thank you for breaking this down because it needed to be said. I’m looking forward to many many more hours of watching these tremendously talented individuals sometimes to the amusement of my grand children exclamation

Question for u - for jimin as you say is targeted to global pop, so what was the reason for no radio play in US and not being in top hits spotify? I just really wanted to understand this part
Payloa it's the illegal pay for play system that rift in the US Radio. BTS and BigHit rightly will not engage in illegal activities. USA ARMY know all about it. Also Boracity has all the receipts on it in one of her videos. Bascially a few years ago 3 main Radio companys went to war they bought out as nearly all the independent radio stations in the US. But US radio is dying a slow death. Now they run an illegal 'Pay for play' system people have been court doing this and have end up in court. Bascially they'll use 'Promoter' as a third party working between the Radio stations and artist music companies. If you don't pay the Radio stations your artist songs don't get played simple as that. The more you pay the more times your song is played. Some artist might get a few old plays but then the subject of money will come up and if the record company is not willing to engage in illegal activies eg pay for play the Radio will stop playing the artist song There are few small independent radio station left but they have very small airwave coverage. I've also found out that a lot of radio stations in the US don't have people there it's all piped from the main stations HQ with only one person who goes in to do the local news annoncements .
maybe because the main single and "og version" was in korean and even bts as a group struggles with radioplay with their korean songs? Wasnt "like crazy" in the top of some charting playlists for weeks? Like i personally read about it being in nr. 1 spot weeks if not months after its release 🤔 I mean I'm not from the Us, so I cant speak for the radioplay of the other members (and frankly i also do not care so much for this kind of stuff lol) , but his overall promotion was more for the korean/asian market as far as i can tell... and i also dont think targeting a "global pop audience" does mean ...the top of US charting system... you can aim for an international audience and not aim for breaking any records at all. Maybe jimin also just wanted to promote it "globally (or USA)" to gain more confidence personally for oversees promotion as a solo artist (and bc he knows that he has a lot of fans over there that he wants to please) and not necessarily for the placative success and fame, who knows? we dont unless they share it with us :)
@@larajackson239 as i remember, both version of like crazy was/is doing good and korean version was viral but only eng version get added in some playlists for days after it's success. And no like crazy wasn't given top of any playlists but it did chart well for weeks and months. like crazy got added in some playlists after days , weeks and some after it's success but soon it got replaced by other songs despite being viral . i don't think anyone while making lc didn't thought about global Audience as their audience cause the whole team including jimin was so happy after it's global success. and global music scene more pop oriented than korean/ asian music scene so it's obvious that the music scene aim was more about global than home / asian focused

I think one of the biggest mistakes ARMYs do is that they assume ALL numbers are bought about by ARMYs, and that we carry their entire success on our backs🤡 like, if we had that much power, us streaming albums top to bottom debut week would result in equal numbers across the board which they NEVER do....ergo GP plays a massive role. the songs that are GP's taste/trend WILL do better irrespective of what we like or do. id see ARMYs talk day and night about a fan fave song ....but spotify wont reflect correspondingly high numbers ....just cos the fandom liked louder than bombs doesn't mean the GP did too ykwim?? pop albums will 100% do better. rap usually does better too, but lbr its only when u are an established rap artist or have good radio to get the music out there. the best ARMYs can do is boost the songs to increase their visibility....but it simply won't have the same growth as pop genre songs do🤷🏻♀️ also, ARMYs need to let go sometimes and just enjoy it as they planned, especially if its giving you so much stress that you cant enjoy it. we do our best with whats given and we're sad that goals are/aren't met....after the appr despair, WE NEED TO MOVE ON, and not dwelve on it, it drags everyone else down. the way some of yall move trynna control all aspects, from album release to promo schedules, yall giving borderline manti
The thing is jk known to gp more. But so much armys dont accept that. Thats something normal. And like you said we should let it and enjoy. They are doing so many things for fans to enjoy.
I just don't like the overlap of promotions which makes it seem like the company is being unfair. a for example V has only had 2 weeks of promotions and now the company is promoting 3D by JK. This continues to happen which divides fan support and creates solo stans out of OT7 stans.
That what i said plus jks songs are heavily promoted in west so everyone is gonna talk about it but taes album got sandwich in between to songs who have many versions physical CDs and all
I get it coz it's felt hectic and a lot, but we have to remember that chapter 2 has been as up in the air for them as it has us. They are trying to fit all of this in around their enlistments and not doing things at exactly the same time as each other. It's a weird time period for both us and them. We've heard them talk about how even the plans for their group comebacks and activies can end up getting derailed and changed repeatedly and that's with all efforts focused on one thing. That's now happening 7 times over plus adding in extra releases such a collabs or focused singles. They aren't just focusing on their one solo project, but also trying to think ahead to have things prepared that can be released whilst they're enlisted. They are also having to prepare themselves for enlistment, which must be incredibly daunting. They have a lot going on and a lot to deal with outside of just their solo project/promo period. If they didn't have enlistment then they'd never be cramming 7 individual solo album projects (+ the extras) into 18 months. They obviously chose to all try and release something before enlisting, and if they hadn't and only some members had released something then people would have been unhappy about that too. I just think it helps when I feel a bit frustrated to try and remember the whole perspective of what they are facing to see why things have ended up being like they have. I'm sure solo projects after enlistment will be much more spaced out from each other and handled better.
No idea why even after watching this video only a handful people understood the content. Most are still acting as solo stans as if they are too deaf and blind to understand the reality. It actually hurts to see the fandom fighting against each other but it has become an everyday story since a while😢 Even BTS seem to be tired of us at this point because even when they try to make us understand everytime that BTS is 1 we still act the same.

For example, tae himself said in his live that he don't want to travel for hours for promotions when he can do much here itself. And US had a writer's strike as well. So traveling there for any kind of promotions is useless. And did he sat even for a day during that 1 and half months of promotions. No. He was doing everything for the album. But still his solos are saying he wanted global success but company didn't gave him that. F*** that. You failed as his Stan. You can't even know what he want for himself. Tae always wanted things in his own pace. He always wanted to achieve stuffs one by one. You know this if you have watched his interviews, bts' docus and lives. But will people understand? A big no. That's the example of solos stans. If one solos is like this, imagine other 6. Hobi himself had to confront this in his documentary and how sad he was with the response. But will fans understand??? Those stans who want that global success to their fav like kook, or those who want concert like suga, etc.. are actually not ready to respect their own fav. We armys are so lucky to stan a group full of members so different from each other. No other fan base has this variety of music and promo strategies to enjoy. I love the guys so much. They are such passionate artists
Also, let's not forget how a lot of people jumped to the conclusion that Hobi was being mistreated for not having a physical album (despite him saying multiple times that he took care of every single detail of his debut) only for him to say in the letter of JITB Hope Edition that he felt he "disappointed us" for CHOOSING not to release Jack In The Box originally that way. We, as a fandom, need to start to pay more attention to what the members are saying than to waste time listening to miserable solos who only care about the idea they created of them in their heads to fit their pathetic savior agenda (not to mention those who more than anything want to see them fail in the hopes their true faves will have a chance in the sun).
Yes I remember at the time thinking oh I love physical albums but if you've chosen to do a digital Album I'll not complain I'll make sure I steam even harder. Then he bought one out and I had mixed feeling about it happy for myself that I could now get hold of a physical copy while feeling guilty as he did that against his wishes just to please people like myself. I felt I was being rather selfish tbh.
My Most favorite Promotion era was For Taehyung.... So Many Shows that he prepared for us. I had so much fun. I also loved how Hobi & JK did Festivals. I need all the members to do more Live shows. Thags the best they are in.

And that's actually a remarkable achievement for a non-American artist, especially when the song isn't in English. You ought to know by now how the US music industry behaves towards K-pop, and how irrelevant the chart is when it comes to REAL popularity. If BB doesn't want you on the charts, BB will find a way not to put you there, and that's the end of it. What you should be proud of, and praising ARMY for, is that he ran second in sales to Olivia Rodrigo. And SHE released TWENTY-TWO versions of her album PLUS bundles. V got #2 with a *single* version of LayoVer and *no* bundles- the HONEST way- and that's amazing.
I remember when Jungkook did a show and he asked a member of longstanding kpop group Shinhwa how to have longevity as a group. And he responded by saying that they all viewed each other's individual successes as success for the group as a whole. BTS aren't looking at their solo careers as a competition between each other. When 1 member does well they all celebrate the success and are happy for that member. That kind of mentality is important if you want to remain a group for a long time, you can't develop a big ego or become jealous of others. For them BTS is number 1 and their solo music is secondary, not the other way around.
Shinhwa has some wonderful music! I have liked them for quite awhile. Bts covered their "Perfect Man" extremely well! Their, (Shinhwa's) version is really Good...✌💜💜💜

Wow! I am so happy that finally I see a very objective and rounded analysis of this topic, and so eternally grateful to Bora City ! I was so done with reading posts and tweets from SOME solo stans (not ARMYs) who tried means and ways to create comparisons, complaints and divides. But this video is really a saviour, the 7 members are creating solo musics because of their immense love for their art , not because they are set to break each others' neck and comparing numbers. They have more depth and substance than some of the naysayers think. This video got to be shared as widely as possible and it's the best one to the antis whenever such ridiculous statements about favouritism is brought up. I can't fathom how far the antis/ toxic solos can go in hoping and pushing for their favourites to break away from BTS, even after BTS announced they are re-contracting, there are these group of solos who are not happy. ARMYs who truly love BTS and the members must unite and continue to give positive vibes and support to them, just like the purple coloour of the rainbow, trust and love them for a long long time, Borahae 💜
You know if everyone, solos/antis and fans, just listened to what BTS have been saying since June 2022 and onward we would not have any misconceptions. There should be no confusion on how these promotions rolled out if everyone listened to each of the members words coming from their own mouths. Instead, solos/antis throw out the words sabotage and corrupt faster than you can say hello instead of thinking about what they're actually saying. LOVED this comment. I have loved BTS' solo journeys, but I have to admit, JK's direction was not what I had envisioned. Despite that, I don't want to miss out on this chapter of his life by complaining. This is what he chose and how he wants to express himself. I don't get into all of the chart wars and conspiracy theories. This only temporary anyway, they'll all be in the military soon and hopefully be reunited in a couple years. you know, if everyone, solos, antis and fans, used their brains for once and did not just eat up the bullshit the company PR department puts out, you'd understand that those men have much less control over their lives and their promotions than most of you think. Well, with the exception of Papi Bongo's favorite child Mimi and the two company shills Suga and RM.
I guess it's not really about the promotions that people want clarifications about. The promos, of course, the members chose them. But how do you explain the clear disparity in distribution? Late shippings? No restock? Late digital store? HYBE could have done so much better.
late shipping and restocking has nothing to do with HYBE, that is the manufacturers fault ... and manufacturing is still being affected by the chaos the pandemic caused... so depending on who is printing and where stuff is being printed... and what (!) is being printed / pressed etc. that is a global issue and not in HYBEs complete control. Jk: simple cd, simple casing...done. Jimin: photo cards, booklets, uses metallic colouring and an overall casing format that is quite typical kpop and maybe not as easy to globally manufacture as JKs standard casing etc.
It won't because they insist on victimisation narratives even in the face of common sense and the literal words from the members themselves. Instead, this video should help armys who started to slowly believe solo narratives. Those are the people that should be impacted and hopefully deterred from ever believing them again.

Also Armys forget preference.. these boys have all made their solo debut with the different styles and genres that will not appeal to everyone.. I liked Jimin’s music a lot,I also like some of Jhope’s and RM’s.. I like seven from JK but 3D is not doing it for me at all and I couldn’t connect with V’s songs except for slow dancing..the others were just not it for me and that’s okay.. It doesn’t mean I didn’t support them or don’t love em or they’re being sabotaged.. some armys need to chill..
Facts. Any practical music listener is always prepared for certain things by their favs to not resonate with them. It's so normal it's almost boring to think about. But yeah, being the ARMY I am I still buy and run my streaming playlists to support. And then I use my actual listening playlists for the songs I like. There's no need to do mental gymnastics and come up with wild excuses for why a member "didn't really like the song" or "they were forced to release it" just because you're not vibing with that particular one.
@marygalligan6455 Every member is not the same. They designed and requested the promo they wanted, that was most comfortable for them in this new solo territory. At this point it's either you believe what the members say about their solo desires and learn to accept that some don't match yours. Or you just do not care what they say. BTS are practically BEGGING us to trust their words and so many ARMY proclaim all day that they do. Yet, still, the complaints of favoritism persist. The constant crys of, "yeah but, yeah but, what about...?" I wish y'all would just say you don't believe them and go. Say you think they have no freedom and are just lying to us every time they go live. Say you think their decisions are wrong and that they don't really know what's best for them. Because I'm so tired of the "just saying" crowd. The ones that try not to sound like mantis and solos but have the same arguments in the end.

You brought up JK's promo (stop being a coward and say his name) to elude to it being out of favoritism and not simply the choices JK made. Choices the others encouragd him to make, choices he was inspired to make by watching his brothers, choices the other sincerely congratulated him for. These thinly veiled slights your contingent make are child's play and insulting to BTS' support of each other - not to mention their continued trust in their label and crew. Say what you mean outright or say nothing. If you actually respect BTS and their decisions, you'll do at least that much. And telling me your age only makes your comments all the more disappointing.

I LOVE Indigo by RM. In my opinion his album is the most cohesive and most interesting. Followed by V. He talked about adult themes and revealed his true self outside the BTS bubble. Closer is one of my favourite songs of all time.
Those two along with hobi and AgustD already know what they are going to be. I'm thinking maybe Jm also already knows what they want. I am a JK stan so I only know his thoughts. He is still exploring. that is why his album is not a one big story or theme in a organized playlist. I think Jungkook just wants to sing period. Now he doesn't know what songs he should sing. Being called a golden maknae messed him up because he is genuinely good at many things but not impressively great at one specific thing. I think his singles are decently matching vocal abilities tho. specially Standing next to you. Also the issue about Jin's music is probably mostly his fault. I'm not sure if ya'll noticed but he's the type to procrastinate and his voice fits most in Jingles and folk songs so he's not very vocally flexible so he has a hard time doing collabs which most of the members did. Yeah I know more about the vocal line since I'm more into that. As for V I have no Idea because I am not 100% into his genre and his vibes.
One thing I'm hoping for over the next 2 years is a cleanse of the toxic solo stans. I hope the fans who truly respect all 7 members of BTS get their chance to see them live someday. The members of BTS have always stated they each get to decide their own promotions and they aren't all going to promote the same and that's okay. I don't think any of them are seeking huge success or money with their solo albums, they just want to share a more personal side of their artistry with ARMY and other fans of music. I'm so happy that all 7 members of BTS re-signed their contracts with Bighit. Solo stans can cry all they want but BTS is 7 and all 7 of them should be respected. If the members truly have issues with mistreatment I'm sure they would share their concerns. Now I'm not going to pretend I stream all their music equally as there are songs I prefer over others, but I make sure to listen to all their solo songs at least once and I'm loving the diversity of their solo music and I can't wait for BTS big comeback in 2025.
I'm with you. I truly hope they all leave, or run out of patience while the boys are enlisted. I wonder why they even stay. They don't seem to find anything to be happy about, they get more miserable with every release of their so called "favorite" because instead of appreciating the work or the effort put in, they look for things to complain about. Is that even fun?? I often wonder what their real lives must be like. It's hard to believe these could be actual people living in the same society as us.

Same, but I'm actually hoping more that when the group comes back as 7 and releases a bunch of group songs, the solos will either take themselves off- recognizing that their solo-era is over- or at the very least, shut up about it all. Barring that, it would be real nice if they would actually listen to what their 'favorite' has to say about it instead of ignoring him and screeching out conspiracy theories of sabotage and favoritism and chart manipulating and other such silly nonsense. It was so comforting to see Big Hit's press release about them all renewing their contracts, I went through the rest of the day with a big smile. It's been weird, I really appreciate and encourage their solo songs, but listening to them makes me miss the seven. And then when I listen to their group songs, I miss them even more. So I've been at a kind of musical standstill for a while.
Tbvh, releases last year were more enjoyable than this year. They all did sooo well though. It's just that for this year, it's all about numbers. Fans are more excited to see how many copies of the album will be sold, how high the songs will rank in the charts, how many streams will it make in the first 24 hours, how many records will it break, etc., instead of just enjoying and feeling the MUSIC they shared. Sometimes, the real intention of the artists in releasing their work is getting overshadowed by the goals of the fans to break records and it would indeed end up getting compared. Sigh. I am just soooo glad all 7 of them have a beautiful relationship with each other that negativities will never get in their way. Ugh I honestly can't wait for 2025.
Agreed. I feel like number/chart updates and 'achievements' have all become meaningless noise at this point. I just want to be able to enjoy the music and whatever else they are putting out without obsessing over numbers all the time. It just sucks all the joy out their releases when that's all you focus on, whilst I've been loving seeing their personalites shine and feeling like we are getting to know each of them a bit more.
It also feels like the numbers and chart updates can no longer be reported without it including 'breaks the record' or 'surpasses' so some of the 'achievements' are starting to become more and more absurd.

They are probably unaware but they're making the other members look less successful and they're feeding solos with stuff they can use to drag the other members. This is actually one of the reasons why I don't check twt every time there's a new release.

I'm personally enjoying seeing all the elements that make BTS in the solo debuts. We alos get to see parts of them we couldn't when they were grouped. It's still frustrating when all the comments talk about numbers and charts etc. I always end up thinking 'can nobody else see how amazing this is?', it's great to see there are.
Exactly. I don't understand when people can't see the glaring irony in their arguments when they praise the members for their creative freedom but in the same vein victimize them for the method of promotion. It also angers me at the sense of entitlement these kind of solo stans feel, as if their idol owes them something or an explanation for their choices. They just need to learn to enjoy the ride and not have the mentality of wanting to fix something. I guess that type of mindset stems from solo stans using their idols and achievements as playing cards to one up each other rather than appreciating the idol's work - I guess over time that is why they become rude, defensive, or offensive (sometimes uncouth) and victimize.
Even though all of their styles are very unique, I actually really like all of them. I don't even like rap, but J-Hope's Suga's and RM(I think RM might be my favorite of those 3. I really like Wildflower) lyrics are just so powerful so I listen to them when I feel like reading the lyrics and crying. I also really love Jungkook's classic pop, it's a bop. I'm really drawn to Jin(THE ASTRONAUT AAAAAAAA I mean I know he only got 1 song but that song is dang good) and Jimin's style(Like Crazy, Serendipity, Lie, all such a bop). What is their style called? Idk what it is, I fucking love it so much. I also really like V's work. Singularity and Stigma are just so unique and amazing, I just feel like I'm in an abstract world when I'm listening to them. The rest of his song's I've found are really good study music, really get me in the mood, so they're in my study playlist. Another thing I've noticed is a lot of BTS' songs, if you look at the lyrics, are talking about their struggles of being famous and the negative things it has brought into their life. Which I totally agree with, I think being famous is not good for someone's mental health, especially for k-pop stars due to k-pop training hell and the even stricter rules choking their lives. I just love them for how... real they are. They want to express themselves and you can tell they're really into music. A lot of their songs are like nothing I have ever heard before. A lot of people in the US just think people listen to k-pop because they find the artists hot, but I think a lot of k-pop artists, especially BTS, offer really amazing songs that I get very invested in, not because of their looks. I remember so many times where I listen to their songs and I can't stop crying, or I spontaneously dance like no one is watching, or I just get entranced to where it feels like everything has faded around me, and I'm being brought into the abstract world of their song, their soul. Each BTS member is so amazing, and I'm so glad I discovered them in 2017. A lot of my favorite childhood music memories are with them, they'll always hold a special place in my heart

I just finished watching and I agree with your points. Each audience needs the promotion that fits the audience. Trust Bangtan to know what audience they want to target and how to promote. They have been doing this their whole professional career. Why assume they are merely puppets who do only what they are told? They want those who will appreciate their music to see/hear it. Why would they sabotage themselves?
While I agree with a lot of this video I have to disagree about Taehyung's album debut. There really was sabotage. From under-stocking pre-ordered albums. China V bar his largest fan club having more than half of their 815,000 album order cancelled so he lost the Hanteo chart first day sales record. - deletion of whole day Spotify streams -No promotion by Geffen in USA they also delayed delivery of his CDs so it didn't go to BB charts. -Target hiding his album. -sandwhiching his album between seven, JHope's album from yr before re-released only 2 weeks before Layover & 2 weeks after his album they released 3D. They could have spaced this out better JITBC had a whole yr to be released why wait until Tae's debut, Seven could been released before as Suga's album was released in April there were 3 months there was nothing else released. There was a lot more done than this it would be a very long answer.
This is a great start point to begin the talk on solo stans, it has become a HUGE problem within the fandom. If solo stans were just over there somewhere enjoying the one member's works that'd be alright (although very weird to not like the other 6 but i digress) but they are ingrained in our army spaces, ruining our peace and being highly disrespectful and hateful towards the other members. We need to talk about this because BTS don't deserve the mess that this fandom has become.
At last someone making total sense. I wish the solos and children would listen. The complainers don’t understand market segmentation. The reason they have said their team is so strong is because they each have areas in which they shine and don’t overshadow each other.
Although taehyung is my bias you'll need to understand different genres have different types of success. Seven had a huge success because it was a pop song which the majority of the ppl love, Like crazy was a hit and had a different vibe and it broke many records too, Jin went to a ballad type song with his and it didnt receive much attention as the others but it did well too (it deserved more), Jhope did so well with Jack in the box and I don't have to talk about D-day because it did amazingly and Taehyung did a great job with Layover. And RM deserved so much more but all of us know his album was a masterpiece. So if I am talking about the success, maknae line normally has the highest number of fans including locals so they will indeed gain more attention from others. Also normally the vocal line always got more attention than the rap line because of the genre. Majority like to listen to vocals more than raps. Same happened in this case, Jungkook did pop so it was mainstream, Taehyung went to R&B/ Jazz genre which is one of the least liked genres in the world and he ate up most of the Asian charts and did well on Western charts too. So the Taehyung solos and other solos need to stop hating on Jungkook and other members please stop. If u stop stanning BTS as a group and start stanning only specific members you were never ARMY because what did the members even do? Jungkook is the most famous its a fact and accept it, many locals know him so he gained the success. And the members chose how they wanted to perform like, jk,jm and suga promoted on US while Taehyung promoted on Korea and Japan. They had different plans and they planned the way to promote themselves. Taehyung could easily do a pop song like JK and gained many awards or charts but he decided to believe and trust in himself and went with what he loves the most. I love how they went for the genre they are the best at. Stop hating and Start loving and start streaming all the members or the member u solo stan instead of barking under the comment section.....
I agree with a lot, but the most popular member is V. My bias isn't even V, but we all know V gets the most followers. When they got Instagram I wasn't even shocked V had the most and in a short amount of time. I hate the fact that the maknae line gets so much more attention, but it's just how it is and I love all 7 boys. That being said, I know the boys have a lot of input on how to promote, but Jimin literally wanted another mv and they said no. So Hybe does restrict and have a say in their solos in my opinion. JK did a great job on his solo and it's a generic and mainstream song, so of course it did well. I personally don't care as long as all the members are happy, but I find it hard to believe that Hybe supported them all equally.

It's like this many locals know Jungkook than Taehyung, but within ARMY taehyung is the most biased and he had the highest amount of solo stans but Jungkook is the most popular because I have a mug with Taehyung in it but my mom still calls it Jungkook 😭😭 most locals know jungkook but within ARMY it's taehyung.

I'm probably going to get hate for saying this as anyone with a differing opinion usually does, but just know that I completely understand and agree with what you're saying in this video. However, I know that many, many armys over the years have said BTS are so rare, because they don't feel the need to follow trends or try to fit a certain mold like other artists do. While some people would say Dynamite, Butter, and PTD were "meaningless," I don't. To me, they showed BTS's joyful, lighthearted sides and promoted fun and happiness during a time when a lot of people were struggling to have those. Seven is catchy as heck, and I completely understand why it's done so well on the charts. Songs with explicit lyrics are extremely popular in the U.S., but I think there's some armys who expected to see Jungkook showcase more of his artistic side and vocal talent - which is not what he's done with Seven (I firmly believe this is just the tip of the iceberg though and there is more "yet to come" from Jungkook). Also, I think people have the right to dislike the song, just like any other BTS song, because not everyone likes explicit songs or even sexually implicit songs, or whatever type of song! We all have different tastes and that's ok. I feel like some armys were just hopeful to see Jungkook reveal his own unique artistry like he has in the past and were caught off guard, but they definitely shouldn't hate on Jungkook for doing Seven. He can do whatever music he wants. But that doesn't mean everyone has to like it.
But those are just single,let's wait for his album and see. But jk warned us already that the path is taking many won't like it but that's what he wants . Let's not impose our wants onto the boys cause they are also human beings who want to do things that make them happy. If you don't like something, it's ok. Move on,but you need to have a discussion about it.
I agree, I think the other reason some Army's responded negatively to it is because it felt like it came out of nowhere. JK really hasn't done music like this and the closest thing was My Time and the subject of the song was about him growing up in the music industry. If this is the direction he wants to go with his music okay, but I think it's completely valid for some people to be taken back or even not on board with the subject of the song. And like you said, people can have differing opinions, that's what makes us all different, but for people to be upset that someone doesn't like it because of the subject of the song, is taking away their opinion. I was just hoping for something deeper in meaning but that's my own desire and I'm not going to hold JK to my expectations, but because I'm not in love with the subject of the song I'm also not going to listen to it... just like I have the right to not listen to any other artists music that I don't enjoy or agree with.

They pretend to be ot7 and love all the members equally but once anyone disagreed with a member or didn’t like something they put out, they would jump on you and call you a fake ot7. All the while, they repeatedly only talk about one member, only follow solo stan fan accounts…the hypocrisy. I’m so glad I left army twitter. My army experience has become so much healthier and more enjoyable since I left.
19:46 I would like to add that this is Jimin's FIRST full work outside BTS, and he chose to do a work of self reflection and stay with their in-house producers to learn more about the process. I think that his period of promotions, while short, was in fact a good first approach for him, and I'm sure that with his adquired knowledge, will go (even) further next time =)
I actually agree with this. I loved every moment of Face and its promotions but I think Jimin needs time to learn how to be confident onstage alone with no BTS members around him. Especially if he wants to get to the point of touring eventually (which he said he wanted to do). Watching the behind the scenes promotions footage where he said he was “nervous to death” and was so relieved when Suga came to visit made me feel like he needs a little more support and practice. Not because of skill, but becaue of nerves. I think getting a taste of what to expect was really good for him and now he can prepare better for the future. I’m very proud of him.
I'm 3 months in into this fandom and people like you piss me off honestly. Ya'll push this narrative that Jimin was terrified of the stage without the members. First off, the man loves the stage. He has said it himself he lives for it. Was he nervous being on his own yes, but he wasn't the ONLY one. Sugar, admitted to it on his Road to D-day, he was nervous being by himself to a point he invited Jimin to come perform. Jhope was a mess at Lolapalloza until Jimin showed up. I saw Jin going to some movie Premier, he was nervous as hell being by himself. Tae invited Jimin to his fan meet because he was nervous. JK was nervous without his Hyungs in the US, he admitted this on his docu series. Being nervous doesn't mean a person isn't ready for a Solo stage. It just means they are human. That all had anxieties being on their own and they admitted this through conversations on their lives, documentaries and content. But they all pushed through and did well. Even the little live performances Jimin did, he killed it. The only reason he said he wasn't ready for a concert was because he needed to write more songs. But you'll push this narrative that he was scared to death. Everyone gets excited to see their brothers visit them in set. Jesus f***ng christ! I get why there is Solos stans

He has all the confidence in the world to specifically curate his "promotion" as an art enthusiast.
He created a very beautiful art with that DIA Beacon performance, a nod back at his early career with Rolling Hall, with no unnecessary interview, and he knew his album would sell. His music would sell.
It's so sad that instead of enjoying the music and promotions that every member gave us, a lot of people only were focused on finding things to complain about and being miserable

A lot of solo stans. Some "Army" also sent ad trucks to Hybe to protest BTS renewing their contracts. Solo fans also wanted V sign with companies from the US. All the talk about sabotages and how Hybe is an evil company that is threatening the boys into renewing their contracts while actively sabotaging their solo albums/work is annoying.

JM will ALWAYS do what’s best for the group- NOT for himself; he has always put his brothers first before himself.
I have loved how the Chapter 2 promotions have been unique to each BTS member, showing off their individual charms. Being different is an advantage not a disadvantage. Thank you for summarising it so well.

Jin wanted a one and done somg that was a love letter to ARMY. A breezy song with an upbeat energy.
Suga created a new chapter in his AgustD journey, very much in his vein of hip hop. Such an arc
RM wanted to create pure art. He departed the farthest from the BTS sound aside from V. Lush emotional storytelling and lyricism.
JHope brough a new hiphop intensity that you can tell he always wanted more of. A harder...more gritty edge that really changed his overall image. He grew up and showed us. Striking.
Jimin was creating str8 Kpop. It followed the vein of it very closely. It was the most BTS-esque of the 7, very fun, energetic. Very Jimin!
JK wants to be a pop star. His songs are targeted specifically for a global audience. The pop/rnb influence is clear and he is perfect for that genre. He wants the biggest possible reach.
V made music he likes to listen to. The bluesy jazz sound is in line with his vibe. His sound departs probably the furthest from BTS. It limits your audience, but its what he desired.
All the solo fans need to calm the eff down and use their brain instead of their egos when looking at this stuff.
Face is anything but straight k-pop lol, every single song on that album is from a different genre while I do agree he is the one who had the most BTS's essence, maybe because of the sheer level of versatility of his songs but it wasn't kpop, and BTS is and have always been barely kpop. And Face-off by Jimin is more r&b than anything Jk has released so far(excluding my time, now that's a proper R&B song), both seven and 3D are the definition of mainstream generic pop(not staying it's bad or good, that's personal opinion).

I have been in kpop for a long enough time to know that there's a difference between the kpop(industry) and kpop as a genre. Face is not kpop at all. And NSYNC and their music were the definition of generic. Both seven and 3D were songs given to JK which can literally be given to any other artist and not much would change.
Jin's Astronaut achieved SO MUCH with just 9 days' notice, no instrumentals, just two versions, limited shipping, no US promo, no playlisting or radio play. Jin's power is insane. I'm desperately waiting for his full album, I absolutely love his songs & vocals.

I've tried to explain this to many people. You cant compare apples to oranges. Each MEMBER is different. Like a lot of young BTS fans don't like V's new album. It's because it wasn't made for you... it was made for the RnB and Jazz lovers, who typically ARENT young teens. I am 53yrs old and I like everyone's solo project. I may not like a certain person's genre of music but I will support them anyways. I am not a solo stan. All 7 of the members did what THEY felt comfortable in doing. Love the research and I will be directing those naysayers to this video.
That's why she explained, that each is targeting their audience. That's why each member will succeed differently according to their audience. But I am happy each is doing well, but the ungrateful fans will very be happy cause they are just demanding rather than accepting what's given
This is literally the behaviour everyone is meant to have. You dont have to like everything that bts and thats okay, because bts is so diverse that there’s something for everyone. And that is what makes the special and that is the reason why we support them and make sure that their music reaches the audience it is intended for. I'm not a "jazz or rnb lover" but Taehyung definitely made me into one. All his songs grew on me randomly, lol. I started to listen to it when I'm driving, writing my schoolwork, or just relaxing. My appreciation for the album started with love me again, for us, blue, slow dancing and finally rainy days and I HATED rainy days...now I cannot go a day without playing it.
This album is one of my favourite albums ever thanks to V.

Out of curiosity I started watching “Hobipalooza” fully expecting to stop after the first few minutes…1+hours later, I was so blown away by Hobi’s ability to command the stage, by his rap skills, his dance and moves as always so supreme! I was captivated and that made me do a 180 and now I appreciate and LOVE BTS rap line in particular (saw Suga in the US live and on the big screen) and the rap genre in general! I joke that it took 3 rappers rapping in a language I don’t understand to make me appreciate those that rap in a language I DO understand! I have loved and supported every member’s solo projects 💯 ! I feel like a lot of armys don’t understand that BTS has transcended the K-pop sphere and aren’t just satisfied by being accepted and acclaimed in K-pop, they want to be accepted and acclaimed in the international body of work respective to each of the genres they pursue.

Right? So many of us have been discussing why they're not 'K-pop' anymore despite being from Korea, for years. WE get it. And they never have been typical K-pop anyway. (Not to mention, K-pop rejected us completely...)

They're going full-international and they're gathering a lot of new fans...but the new fans are not ARMYs (yet), don't know BTS's history or discography (yet), and auto-label anything that comes out of Korea as 'K-pop'. And unfortunately, some of these 'fans' aren't ever going to get to the 'yet', because all they're interested in is the English-lyrics music. 'I just LOVE BTS!' I think you have that some what wrong. We know BTS are more than Kpop but still Kpop most of us aren't even Kpop fans. We know BTS use multi genres of music and we love that it what makes them different one of the things that makes them stand out. We know each member has different musical tastes on top of what they have in common that's means we get a wild spectrum of styles and tastes. It's wonderful when they do their own thing and when they all bring something to the table to make an amazing musical mix. When we go through BTS albums the tracks are not all the same that's the beauty of a BTS album.
ARMY understands they are global Super Stars however I'm sure there are people anti's especially who don't want BTS to be global superstars as they overshadow their kpop groups. They will often pretend to be BTS fans and many of them are kpop fans in general eg they belong to multi fandoms and are always telling ARMY we should also support other Kpop Groups. mmmm strange as no one says oh you like this Rapper than you have to also like and all Rappers or you like that pop artist so have to also love this pop artist.. ermmm No sorry that's not how liking a group works.

The wrong credits across all platforms sounds like someone glitched it before distribution, as opposed to a single platform deliberately removing a credit in order to reduce numbers. That one you can lay solidly on the editor, whoever they were.
But I really don't think a record-breaking debut can be considered sabotaged, and it's pretty foolish to assume that any company would *want* one of it's most popular and lucrative members to do poorly. It'd be more damaging to the company than to the member.

@@nat4618 first of all why do you think *I* am the one in charge of whether members get #1s or not 😭 a #1 on the BBH100 is NOT easy and depends on several factors: firstly the Billboard Hot 100 ONLY tracks US streams, sales and radio (and I'm not from the US so nothing to do with me lmaoo). So that's a huge chunk of BTS' audience cut out. Secondly, Billboard are notoriously corrupt and shift the impact more onto radioplay (which is controlled by huge companies that illegally pay-for-play) as well as coincidentally filtering huge amounts of streams and sales for BTS songs like we saw for the fall of Like Crazy. Those chart positions rely more on music industry privilege than anything, which is why BTS only achieved their first #1 in 2020, which is pretty recent for being the biggest band in the world since 2017.
THEN after all of that is the reason why boracity made this video - what audience the music is directed at within the US. A large part of achieving a hit relies on the general public rather than dedicated ARMYs, and like it or not the general public are passive listeners whose ears have been trained by the industry to respond to certain sounds. Those sounds rarely (although this has been changing recently because of tiktok, but very slowly) include indie, rock, hip hop, slow songs or any kind of overly experimental music. Many of BTS' work both as a group and as solo artists fall under this category, on top of both the language barrier with Korean songs and the cultural barrier/stigma that they're unfortunately still fighting.
So you see, it's really not that simple. ARMYs have been fighting for BTS to get their well-deserved recognition in Western music and on Western charts for YEARS, and for new fans to come in and undermine all of that, the fact that we quite literally came from nothing, to say that if it's so easy why don't we do it for all the members, is disrespectful. The world doesn't work that way.
And I haven't even touched on the intentions of the boys themselves - sure, they want Western recognition, but they are also musicians who want to have a long-lasting impact and create timeless music (Namjoon and the others have said this many times). The fact that you choose to selectively listen to them to fit your narrative is not very ARMY-like of you, but I'd guess you're probably a diet solo or a solo anyway. I know EXACTLY what you people do, you try to place the blame on ARMYs for their "favouritism" to get us to fight each other when it's not about favouring one member at all. You can't fool me. I don't take criticism about favouritism from someone whose entire fan identity is ignoring the boys' love for each other to create their own agenda.

They may sprinkle in a "throwback" song, but it's only during specific times of the day. I have called in to a radio station that was playing "My Universe" one time because I was SHOCKED! I also heard "Seven" once recently and was again shocked. Happy, but shocked.
Unfortunately, I cannot claim to be an OG ARMY, but from all of the content that I've seen, they seem very sincere and focused. I find it hard to believe that they didn't have any input into how their music was promoted, packaged, etc. They also seem to be very respectful and do their best to not bring shame to their families, the group, the company or their country, but I've seen them speak up/speak out about things that they didn't think fit BTS.
I've watched many @boracitymagazine videos and have always been impresed with the amount of detail and research that has been put into each one of them. It is hard for me to see some of these comments because I think, did this person even watch the video? Have they even seen any of the other @boracitymagazine videos!?!?!
So true in namjoon's case. I became an BTS ARMY just because of Indigo. When i listen people change pt 2, Lonely, and wild flower i shocked. It's the type of music which conveys my feelings which is not mainstream. I want some intimacy in music. Just because of RM i got to know BTS. Now am an ARMY and love them all. People should learn that there are hundreds of music genres and not all of them are mainstream and not everyone has to like the same genre. And that makes music versatile, that makes BTS chapter 2 beautiful as each of them pursue different genres to highlight their personal colors, 7 unique pieces. Sadly, solo stans do not respect their individuality or appreciate what content they are blessed with in the limited remaining time with BTS, they only look to the grass on the other side and obsessed about other member's success. They talk as if they could run the company better, accuse the company of paying sh*t, making up lies and harrass other members if they dare standing out. What's the point? Each genre needs different marketing tactics based on its targeted audience. When will people start listening to their music out of enjoyment instead of responsibility, obsession and spite?

I guess it's not really about the promotions that they want clarifications about. The promos, of course, the members chose them. But how do you explain the clear disparity in distribution? Late shippings? No restock? Late digital store? HYBE could have done so much better.
Like Crazy is synth pop, The Astronaut is pop rock, Seven is UK garage pop. All 3 are pop songs but guess which song got proper playlisting and radio play? And guess which song you all are calling "gp friendly" while completely ignoring the 2 other songs?

And i'm so glad the hype around his album didn't fade at all which just proves that with more promotion it'd be even more of a huge success. I was just talking under someone else's comment in here about how the management for each member might not be the exact same and we can't possibly know how BigHit deals with that. If it's different production/art director or if it's an entirely different team still within BigHit. We do know Taehyung worked with Min Heejin and Jungkook's working more closely to Scooter Braun, and we can understand their promotional styles way easier than the other members because we have this information. All we know is that Jimin said he chose to work with in-house BigHit producers.
I also think it's important to point out that 9 days IS a very short period but Jimin worked /so hard/ every single day, if you've watched his behind the scenes. Set Me Free pt. 2 required so much from him especially, he had the most difficult song to promote out of all the members, the choreo is insane. So in regards of his health it could possibly be too much to extent his promotional schedule, but that's just a guess. We do have his documentary coming up and award shows season (maybe even new music because of those "#ThisIsJimin" videos) so we'll hopefully see more of Jimin before he enlists.
It's a learning process, Chapter 2 is new not only for us but for BTS and their teams. I choose to be understanding and supportive, it can't be easy to do what they're doing.

I'm so new to BTS! I have only listened to them for the past month. As I'm so new, I started with their solo music and I felt in love with each and every one of them. It really showed me their personalities and their kind of individual art, as I was getting to know them in their shows like Run BTS, In the soop, past interviews, etc. With that being said I LOVED THIS VIDEO so so soooo much. It is so well done and it shows your admiration and respect for this artist. I know I'm new (or baby army) but I love them so much and it makes me so happy when I see other people who love them as well and put their effort, passion and talent in giving good and respectfull information about them. RM's album is amazing. I am from the US, but the interviewers in the US usually ask the dumbest superficial questions. The US is not the end all of music. I trust BTS to do what they want to do. We can support them all while still having a favorite genre style. We are allowed to feel a certain way as well.

I would like to say that in one of Jungkook's recent weverse lives he said that he wanted to be "mainstream" and "a big popstar" as a solo artist. So the aggressive western marketing in the form of radio and playlisting similar to butter and dynamite that is being done is in line with the vision he has for himself as a solo artist. All the BTS members reflect on the type of music they listen & enjoy, same with Jungkook he has alway leaned towards mainstream artists Justin Bieber, Charlie Puth, Ariana Harry Styles, etc. You can also see the type of music he listens & covers in live, most of them are trendy songs or from the mainstream artists like Stay, Hold on, Falling, we don't talk anymore etc. I've also seen people complaints about Jk singing in English just like BTS when they did dynamite, I always wonder why people don't have a problem when BTS or Jk sing in Japanese did they think all asian language are same but have a problem when they sing in English, they also don't have problems when they cover English songs by Western artists it only happens when they release their own English song. Now in 2023 we really need to end this discourse and except that BTS are global artists & they can sing in whatever language they choose to sing whether it is Korean, Japanese, English or Spanish (Chicken Noodles Soup)

I guess what people find frustrating is that HYBE could have done so much better and more. When Jimin released Like Crazy, it was so successful that he could have made another week in the top 10 had HYBE did more for him. His albums were never restocked. And don't tell me this is on Jimin. For sure Jimin said, "Okay! Don't restock my albums." Yes he definitely said that 😬 When some people on Twt asked Hybe to atleast put LC on TTH, everyone was saying "You're going against what BTS stands for" and suddenly when JK had all the playlisting, radio support and ads, everyone was celebrating. The hypocrisy is just so astounding. This debate over the solo promotions is not more about the members but about the company and how "Armys" treated each solo release. If you can't accept that there is a clear disparity between the support of each release, you're definitely delusional or maybe just a heavily JK biased.
The only thing I would emphasize is that Jack In The Box did count for charts- it just didn’t count for the US Billboard 100 or 200 charts! We need to be careful that we do not hold western charts as more superior than others such as Circle or Gaon which is exclusive to South Korea.

Actually, in my country UK, Kpop physical albums do not count for our charts because the randomised photo cards disqualify them. So even if Hobi had released a CD initially, it wouldn't have made any difference in the 3rd biggest music market in the world (unless they took out all the photo cards, stickers etc). His digital albums (from iTunes, Amazon, Qobuz, 7digital etc.) did count, though.

To think you are making some sort of gotcha to @ilyhsk1 to prove that people are lying about how JitB was mismanaged by admitting that the digital store was late unlike every other release (even ots only got a digital store 2 or 3 days before release) by other members is rather daft. There were varying pre sale time periods for other releases digital stores (while they were allowed digital stores) but none were as badly handled as JitB. At the VERY least the way JitB was handled (the multiple mismanagement issues) should have had the purples up in arms fighting for hb to apologise and do better by j-hope, all other fandoms be they kpop or western artists would have done so. Instead purples attacked anyone who did and supported hb instead of j-hope and to this day the majority of the fandom refsue to acknowldege that it was at the very least mismangaged. as a girl who has been into boy groups for years, not just kpop groups- one of the biggest things you learn is that every member has their own style and target audience. as an army for 6 yrs, nothing about anything they did confused me because most of the members already had pretty defined styles and ways. only thing that actually shocked me (not in a bad way) at first was jk’s explicit lyrics and it was only because he’s never done a song like that before but like he said in his live “how old am i?”. jungkook is a grown man and i think one of the reasons some army don’t like his explicit music is because they’re used to his cookie cutter golden maknae baby act that he gave us when he was 20. they just refuse to let that man be grown, he’s not a kid anymore. anyways, i personally love all of the members solo projects and if you are a lover of music and art too then you’d love their music for what it is and not how they’re promoted or where it charts.
Explicit and dirty are different things. The irony with JK is that this explicit version is also very dirty and he as a non-native speaker can not understand how it sounds for a native. Having explicit lyrics to express yourself is fine. In the context of the song it was f-ing disgusting. I wish him all the best, but I couldn't listen to the song.

It's not even about his age or refusing to let him grow. I feel like this hasn't really been said, but most ARMYs really values the meaningful and deep lyrics of BTS music, so Jungkook having a sexual/dirty song is too shocking and other ARMYs are just simply not comfortable with it. They just can't like it. I mean, BTS has an obvious horny teen song before when they were just rookies which could be deemed daring/controversial to kpop. But despite that, "War of Hormone" is still well loved since it's a fun song and even relatable to others, especially that it's written by the members. "Seven" is obviously just too different since it's written by westerners that's why it didn't feel like himself. His own written solo songs before have meanings and emotions, but "Seven" is so westernized and mainstream just like common western artists who sings/raps about sex all the time, that's why other ARMYs find it disappointing when his solo debut should have been more special.

Face is easily one of the best albums made and released in the whole BTS universe. The fact that it's so personal yet so cohesive, Jimin is so underestimated for his musicality and versatility, this man has always released bangers and every single song he has released so far is so different from each other while still having that Jimin effect. I agree with FACE ending too fast as Jimin got only 9 days for promotion but the album is a masterpiece achieving many records and Hybe should have promoted for more days but though it's ended fast, Like Crazy still maintaining the impact even after 6 months which was also #1 on BB Hot 100, Jimin being the first K-Soloist to do that FACE got 1.2B streams being the fastest album by a K-Soloist. Everything proves Jimin's musicality and I am sure he has a bright futire in music industry.

A few months ago I was hospitalized and mini mini hours of sleeplessness and boredom. I found myself searching through TH-cam and stumbled on some of the early BTS videos.
I am fascinated by the absolute passion, energy, artistic development, loyalty and dedication to their crafts that these young people have displayed over all these years.
they have certainly deserved every award they have received, and every acclamation of praise for their dedication to their families, brotherhood, and country. The fact that they all have represented their company, their communities, their country in so many ways is astounding. Each of them deserve the title Icons for all they have shared, and continue to share with the world. One of my favorite videos is that one that records the speech at the United Nations. The message was clear, heartfelt, and so impressive.
I have been confused why anyone would not see these young people as individuals, with their talents, dreams and hopes, continue to share with the whole world what they have to offer.
I am blessed as is the rest of the world for their part in it.

Question for u - for jimin as you say is targeted to global pop, so what was the reason for no radio play in US and not being in top hits spotify? I just really wanted to understand this part
Payloa it's the illegal pay for play system that rift in the US Radio. BTS and BigHit rightly will not engage in illegal activities. USA ARMY know all about it. Also Boracity has all the receipts on it in one of her videos. Bascially a few years ago 3 main Radio companys went to war they bought out as nearly all the independent radio stations in the US. But US radio is dying a slow death. Now they run an illegal 'Pay for play' system people have been court doing this and have end up in court. Bascially they'll use 'Promoter' as a third party working between the Radio stations and artist music companies. If you don't pay the Radio stations your artist songs don't get played simple as that. The more you pay the more times your song is played. Some artist might get a few old plays but then the subject of money will come up and if the record company is not willing to engage in illegal activies eg pay for play the Radio will stop playing the artist song There are few small independent radio station left but they have very small airwave coverage. I've also found out that a lot of radio stations in the US don't have people there it's all piped from the main stations HQ with only one person who goes in to do the local news annoncements .

I mean I'm not from the Us, so I cant speak for the radioplay of the other members (and frankly i also do not care so much for this kind of stuff lol) , but his overall promotion was more for the korean/asian market as far as i can tell... and i also dont think targeting a "global pop audience" does mean ...the top of US charting system... you can aim for an international audience and not aim for breaking any records at all. Maybe jimin also just wanted to promote it "globally (or USA)" to gain more confidence personally for oversees promotion as a solo artist (and bc he knows that he has a lot of fans over there that he wants to please) and not necessarily for the placative success and fame, who knows? we dont unless they share it with us :)

i don't think anyone while making lc didn't thought about global Audience as their audience cause the whole team including jimin was so happy after it's global success. and global music scene more pop oriented than korean/ asian music scene so it's obvious that the music scene aim was more about global than home / asian focused

I was getting tired of hearing ppl (some who've followed BTS for a while) bagging the company for lack of support. It's like they forget this is the members Solo period. As BTS, the company had main control & members contributed. But as Soloists the members are in control & the company is supporting.!

I think one of the biggest mistakes ARMYs do is that they assume ALL numbers are bought about by ARMYs, and that we carry their entire success on our backs🤡
like, if we had that much power, us streaming albums top to bottom debut week would result in equal numbers across the board which they NEVER do....ergo GP plays a massive role. the songs that are GP's taste/trend WILL do better irrespective of what we like or do. id see ARMYs talk day and night about a fan fave song ....but spotify wont reflect correspondingly high numbers ....just cos the fandom liked louder than bombs doesn't mean the GP did too ykwim??
pop albums will 100% do better. rap usually does better too, but lbr its only when u are an established rap artist or have good radio to get the music out there. the best ARMYs can do is boost the songs to increase their visibility....but it simply won't have the same growth as pop genre songs do🤷🏻♀️

I just don't like the overlap of promotions which makes it seem like the company is being unfair. a for example V has only had 2 weeks of promotions and now the company is promoting 3D by JK. This continues to happen which divides fan support and creates solo stans out of OT7 stans.
That what i said plus jks songs are heavily promoted in west so everyone is gonna talk about it but taes album got sandwich in between to songs who have many versions physical CDs and all
I get it coz it's felt hectic and a lot, but we have to remember that chapter 2 has been as up in the air for them as it has us. They are trying to fit all of this in around their enlistments and not doing things at exactly the same time as each other. It's a weird time period for both us and them. We've heard them talk about how even the plans for their group comebacks and activies can end up getting derailed and changed repeatedly and that's with all efforts focused on one thing. That's now happening 7 times over plus adding in extra releases such a collabs or focused singles.
They aren't just focusing on their one solo project, but also trying to think ahead to have things prepared that can be released whilst they're enlisted. They are also having to prepare themselves for enlistment, which must be incredibly daunting. They have a lot going on and a lot to deal with outside of just their solo project/promo period.
If they didn't have enlistment then they'd never be cramming 7 individual solo album projects (+ the extras) into 18 months. They obviously chose to all try and release something before enlisting, and if they hadn't and only some members had released something then people would have been unhappy about that too.
I just think it helps when I feel a bit frustrated to try and remember the whole perspective of what they are facing to see why things have ended up being like they have. I'm sure solo projects after enlistment will be much more spaced out from each other and handled better.

Yes I remember at the time thinking oh I love physical albums but if you've chosen to do a digital Album I'll not complain I'll make sure I steam even harder. If BB doesn't want you on the charts, BB will find a way not to put you there, and that's the end of it.
What you should be proud of, and praising ARMY for, is that he ran second in sales to Olivia Rodrigo. And SHE released TWENTY-TWO versions of her album PLUS bundles. V got #2 with a *single* version of LayoVer and *no* bundles- the HONEST way- and that's amazing.

I remember when Jungkook did a show and he asked a member of longstanding kpop group Shinhwa how to have longevity as a group. And he responded by saying that they all viewed each other's individual successes as success for the group as a whole. BTS aren't looking at their solo careers as a competition between each other. When 1 member does well they all celebrate the success and are happy for that member. That kind of mentality is important if you want to remain a group for a long time, you can't develop a big ego or become jealous of others. For them BTS is number 1 and their solo music is secondary, not the other way around.
Shinhwa has some wonderful music! I have liked them for quite awhile. Bts covered their "Perfect Man" extremely well! Their, (Shinhwa's) version is really Good...✌💜💜💜

Wow! I am so happy that finally I see a very objective and rounded analysis of this topic, and so eternally grateful to Bora City ! I was so done with reading posts and tweets from SOME solo stans (not ARMYs) who tried means and ways to create comparisons, complaints and divides.
But this video is really a saviour, the 7 members are creating solo musics because of their immense love for their art , not because they are set to break each others' neck and comparing numbers. They have more depth and substance than some of the naysayers think.
This video got to be shared as widely as possible and it's the best one to the antis whenever such ridiculous statements about favouritism is brought up. I can't fathom how far the antis/ toxic solos can go in hoping and pushing for their favourites to break away from BTS, even after BTS announced they are re-contracting, there are these group of solos who are not happy. ARMYs who truly love BTS and the members must unite and continue to give positive vibes and support to them, just like the purple coloour of the rainbow, trust and love them for a long long time, Borahae 💜

You know if everyone, solos/antis and fans, just listened to what BTS have been saying since June 2022 and onward we would not have any misconceptions. There should be no confusion on how these promotions rolled out if everyone listened to each of the members words coming from their own mouths. Instead, solos/antis throw out the words sabotage and corrupt faster than you can say hello instead of thinking about what they're actually saying.
To everyone like me and many other ARMYs who are only listening to the BTS members and actually official sources, we are having a peaceful time enjoying their music and solo content/promotions with ease and we are constantly reassured of their reunion with no doubts that they will together for a very long time 💜

I have loved BTS' solo journeys, but I have to admit, JK's direction was not what I had envisioned.
Despite that, I don't want to miss out on this chapter of his life by complaining. This is what he chose and how he wants to express himself. I don't get into all of the chart wars and conspiracy theories. This only temporary anyway, they'll all be in the military soon and hopefully be reunited in a couple years.

I guess it's not really about the promotions that people want clarifications about. The promos, of course, the members chose them. But how do you explain the clear disparity in distribution? Late shippings? No restock? Late digital store? HYBE could have done so much better.

Jimin: photo cards, booklets, uses metallic colouring and an overall casing format that is quite typical kpop and maybe not as easy to globally manufacture as JKs standard casing etc.

Facts. Any practical music listener is always prepared for certain things by their favs to not resonate with them. It's so normal it's almost boring to think about. But yeah, being the ARMY I am I still buy and run my streaming playlists to support. And then I use my actual listening playlists for the songs I like. There's no need to do mental gymnastics and come up with wild excuses for why a member "didn't really like the song" or "they were forced to release it" just because you're not vibing with that particular one.
@marygalligan6455 Every member is not the same. They designed and requested the promo they wanted, that was most comfortable for them in this new solo territory. At this point it's either you believe what the members say about their solo desires and learn to accept that some don't match yours. Or you just do not care what they say. BTS are practically BEGGING us to trust their words and so many ARMY proclaim all day that they do. Yet, still, the complaints of favoritism persist. The constant crys of, "yeah but, yeah but, what about...?" I wish y'all would just say you don't believe them and go. Say you think they have no freedom and are just lying to us every time they go live. Say you think their decisions are wrong and that they don't really know what's best for them. Because I'm so tired of the "just saying" crowd. The ones that try not to sound like mantis and solos but have the same arguments in the end.

You brought up JK's promo (stop being a coward and say his name) to elude to it being out of favoritism and not simply the choices JK made. I LOVE Indigo by RM. In my opinion his album is the most cohesive and most interesting. Followed by V. He talked about adult themes and revealed his true self outside the BTS bubble. Closer is one of my favourite songs of all time.

I am a JK stan so I only know his thoughts. He is still exploring. that is why his album is not a one big story or theme in a organized playlist. I think Jungkook just wants to sing period. Now he doesn't know what songs he should sing. Being called a golden maknae messed him up because he is genuinely good at many things but not impressively great at one specific thing. I think his singles are decently matching vocal abilities tho. specially Standing next to you.
Also the issue about Jin's music is probably mostly his fault. I'm not sure if ya'll noticed but he's the type to procrastinate and his voice fits most in Jingles and folk songs so he's not very vocally flexible so he has a hard time doing collabs which most of the members did.
Yeah I know more about the vocal line since I'm more into that.
As for V I have no Idea because I am not 100% into his genre and his vibes.

One thing I'm hoping for over the next 2 years is a cleanse of the toxic solo stans. I hope the fans who truly respect all 7 members of BTS get their chance to see them live someday. The members of BTS have always stated they each get to decide their own promotions and they aren't all going to promote the same and that's okay. I don't think any of them are seeking huge success or money with their solo albums, they just want to share a more personal side of their artistry with ARMY and other fans of music. I'm so happy that all 7 members of BTS re-signed their contracts with Bighit. Solo stans can cry all they want but BTS is 7 and all 7 of them should be respected. If the members truly have issues with mistreatment I'm sure they would share their concerns. Now I'm not going to pretend I stream all their music equally as there are songs I prefer over others, but I make sure to listen to all their solo songs at least once and I'm loving the diversity of their solo music and I can't wait for BTS big comeback in 2025.
I'm with you. I truly hope they all leave, or run out of patience while the boys are enlisted. I wonder why they even stay. They don't seem to find anything to be happy about, they get more miserable with every release of their so called "favorite" because instead of appreciating the work or the effort put in, they look for things to complain about. Is that even fun?? I often wonder what their real lives must be like. It's hard to believe these could be actual people living in the same society as us.

Same, but I'm actually hoping more that when the group comes back as 7 and releases a bunch of group songs, the solos will either take themselves off- recognizing that their solo-era is over- or at the very least, shut up about it all. It was so comforting to see Big Hit's press release about them all renewing their contracts, I went through the rest of the day with a big smile. It's been weird, I really appreciate and encourage their solo songs, but listening to them makes me miss the seven. And then when I listen to their group songs, I miss them even more. So I've been at a kind of musical standstill for a while.
Tbvh, releases last year were more enjoyable than this year. They all did sooo well though. It's just that for this year, it's all about numbers. Fans are more excited to see how many copies of the album will be sold, how high the songs will rank in the charts, how many streams will it make in the first 24 hours, how many records will it break, etc., instead of just enjoying and feeling the MUSIC they shared. Sometimes, the real intention of the artists in releasing their work is getting overshadowed by the goals of the fans to break records and it would indeed end up getting compared. Sigh. I am just soooo glad all 7 of them have a beautiful relationship with each other that negativities will never get in their way. Ugh I honestly can't wait for 2025.
Agreed. I feel like number/chart updates and 'achievements' have all become meaningless noise at this point. I just want to be able to enjoy the music and whatever else they are putting out without obsessing over numbers all the time. It just sucks all the joy out their releases when that's all you focus on, whilst I've been loving seeing their personalites shine and feeling like we are getting to know each of them a bit more.
It also feels like the numbers and chart updates can no longer be reported without it including 'breaks the record' or 'surpasses' so some of the 'achievements' are starting to become more and more absurd.

I'm personally enjoying seeing all the elements that make BTS in the solo debuts. We alos get to see parts of them we couldn't when they were grouped. It's still frustrating when all the comments talk about numbers and charts etc. I always end up thinking 'can nobody else see how amazing this is?', it's great to see there are.

Exactly. I don't understand when people can't see the glaring irony in their arguments when they praise the members for their creative freedom but in the same vein victimize them for the method of promotion. It also angers me at the sense of entitlement these kind of solo stans feel, as if their idol owes them something or an explanation for their choices. They just need to learn to enjoy the ride and not have the mentality of wanting to fix something. I guess that type of mindset stems from solo stans using their idols and achievements as playing cards to one up each other rather than appreciating the idol's work - I guess over time that is why they become rude, defensive, or offensive (sometimes uncouth) and victimize.

Even though all of their styles are very unique, I actually really like all of them. I don't even like rap, but J-Hope's Suga's and RM(I think RM might be my favorite of those 3. I really like Wildflower) lyrics are just so powerful so I listen to them when I feel like reading the lyrics and crying. I also really love Jungkook's classic pop, it's a bop. I'm really drawn to Jin(THE ASTRONAUT AAAAAAAA I mean I know he only got 1 song but that song is dang good) and Jimin's style(Like Crazy, Serendipity, Lie, all such a bop). What is their style called? Idk what it is, I fucking love it so much. I also really like V's work. Singularity and Stigma are just so unique and amazing, I just feel like I'm in an abstract world when I'm listening to them. The rest of his song's I've found are really good study music, really get me in the mood, so they're in my study playlist. Another thing I've noticed is a lot of BTS' songs, if you look at the lyrics, are talking about their struggles of being famous and the negative things it has brought into their life. Which I totally agree with, I think being famous is not good for someone's mental health, especially for k-pop stars due to k-pop training hell and the even stricter rules choking their lives. I just love them for how... real they are. They want to express themselves and you can tell they're really into music. A lot of their songs are like nothing I have ever heard before. A lot of people in the US just think people listen to k-pop because they find the artists hot, but I think a lot of k-pop artists, especially BTS, offer really amazing songs that I get very invested in, not because of their looks. I remember so many times where I listen to their songs and I can't stop crying, or I spontaneously dance like no one is watching, or I just get entranced to where it feels like everything has faded around me, and I'm being brought into the abstract world of their song, their soul. Each BTS member is so amazing, and I'm so glad I discovered them in 2017. A lot of my favorite childhood music memories are with them, they'll always hold a special place in my heart

I just finished watching and I agree with your points. Each audience needs the promotion that fits the audience. Trust Bangtan to know what audience they want to target and how to promote. They have been doing this their whole professional career. Why assume they are merely puppets who do only what they are told? They want those who will appreciate their music to see/hear it. Why would they sabotage themselves?

They could have spaced this out better JITBC had a whole yr to be released why wait until Tae's debut, Seven could been released before as Suga's album was released in April there were 3 months there was nothing else released.

This is a great start point to begin the talk on solo stans, it has become a HUGE problem within the fandom. If solo stans were just over there somewhere enjoying the one member's works that'd be alright (although very weird to not like the other 6 but i digress) but they are ingrained in our army spaces, ruining our peace and being highly disrespectful and hateful towards the other members. We need to talk about this because BTS don't deserve the mess that this fandom has become.
At last someone making total sense. I wish the solos and children would listen. The complainers don’t understand market segmentation. The reason they have said their team is so strong is because they each have areas in which they shine and don’t overshadow each other.
Although taehyung is my bias you'll need to understand different genres have different types of success. Seven had a huge success because it was a pop song which the majority of the ppl love, Like crazy was a hit and had a different vibe and it broke many records too, Jin went to a ballad type song with his and it didnt receive much attention as the others but it did well too (it deserved more), Jhope did so well with Jack in the box and I don't have to talk about D-day because it did amazingly and Taehyung did a great job with Layover. And RM deserved so much more but all of us know his album was a masterpiece. So if I am talking about the success, maknae line normally has the highest number of fans including locals so they will indeed gain more attention from others. Also normally the vocal line always got more attention than the rap line because of the genre. Majority like to listen to vocals more than raps. Same happened in this case, Jungkook did pop so it was mainstream, Taehyung went to R&B/ Jazz genre which is one of the least liked genres in the world and he ate up most of the Asian charts and did well on Western charts too. So the Taehyung solos and other solos need to stop hating on Jungkook and other members please stop. If u stop stanning BTS as a group and start stanning only specific members you were never ARMY because what did the members even do? Jungkook is the most famous its a fact and accept it, many locals know him so he gained the success. And the members chose how they wanted to perform like, jk,jm and suga promoted on US while Taehyung promoted on Korea and Japan. They had different plans and they planned the way to promote themselves. Taehyung could easily do a pop song like JK and gained many awards or charts but he decided to believe and trust in himself and went with what he loves the most. I love how they went for the genre they are the best at. Stop hating and Start loving and start streaming all the members or the member u solo stan instead of barking under the comment section.....
I agree with a lot, but the most popular member is V. My bias isn't even V, but we all know V gets the most followers. When they got Instagram I wasn't even shocked V had the most and in a short amount of time. I hate the fact that the maknae line gets so much more attention, but it's just how it is and I love all 7 boys. That being said, I know the boys have a lot of input on how to promote, but Jimin literally wanted another mv and they said no. So Hybe does restrict and have a say in their solos in my opinion. JK did a great job on his solo and it's a generic and mainstream song, so of course it did well. I personally don't care as long as all the members are happy, but I find it hard to believe that Hybe supported them all equally.

I'm probably going to get hate for saying this as anyone with a differing opinion usually does, but just know that I completely understand and agree with what you're saying in this video. However, I know that many, many armys over the years have said BTS are so rare, because they don't feel the need to follow trends or try to fit a certain mold like other artists do. While some people would say Dynamite, Butter, and PTD were "meaningless," I don't. To me, they showed BTS's joyful, lighthearted sides and promoted fun and happiness during a time when a lot of people were struggling to have those. Seven is catchy as heck, and I completely understand why it's done so well on the charts. Songs with explicit lyrics are extremely popular in the U.S., but I think there's some armys who expected to see Jungkook showcase more of his artistic side and vocal talent - which is not what he's done with Seven (I firmly believe this is just the tip of the iceberg though and there is more "yet to come" from Jungkook). Also, I think people have the right to dislike the song, just like any other BTS song, because not everyone likes explicit songs or even sexually implicit songs, or whatever type of song! We all have different tastes and that's ok. I feel like some armys were just hopeful to see Jungkook reveal his own unique artistry like he has in the past and were caught off guard, but they definitely shouldn't hate on Jungkook for doing Seven. He can do whatever music he wants. But that doesn't mean everyone has to like it.
But those are just single,let's wait for his album and see. But jk warned us already that the path is taking many won't like it but that's what he wants . Let's not impose our wants onto the boys cause they are also human beings who want to do things that make them happy. If you don't like something, it's ok. I agree, I think the other reason some Army's responded negatively to it is because it felt like it came out of nowhere. JK really hasn't done music like this and the closest thing was My Time and the subject of the song was about him growing up in the music industry. If this is the direction he wants to go with his music okay, but I think it's completely valid for some people to be taken back or even not on board with the subject of the song. And like you said, people can have differing opinions, that's what makes us all different, but for people to be upset that someone doesn't like it because of the subject of the song, is taking away their opinion. I was just hoping for something deeper in meaning but that's my own desire and I'm not going to hold JK to my expectations, but because I'm not in love with the subject of the song I'm also not going to listen to it... just like I have the right to not listen to any other artists music that I don't enjoy or agree with.

They pretend to be ot7 and love all the members equally but once anyone disagreed with a member or didn’t like something they put out, they would jump on you and call you a fake ot7. I think that his period of promotions, while short, was in fact a good first approach for him, and I'm sure that with his adquired knowledge, will go (even) further next time =)
I actually agree with this. I loved every moment of Face and its promotions but I think Jimin needs time to learn how to be confident onstage alone with no BTS members around him. Especially if he wants to get to the point of touring eventually (which he said he wanted to do). Watching the behind the scenes promotions footage where he said he was “nervous to death” and was so relieved when Suga came to visit made me feel like he needs a little more support and practice. Not because of skill, but becaue of nerves. I think getting a taste of what to expect was really good for him and now he can prepare better for the future. I’m very proud of him.
I'm 3 months in into this fandom and people like you piss me off honestly. Ya'll push this narrative that Jimin was terrified of the stage without the members. First off, the man loves the stage. He has said it himself he lives for it. Was he nervous being on his own yes, but he wasn't the ONLY one. Sugar, admitted to it on his Road to D-day, he was nervous being by himself to a point he invited Jimin to come perform.
Jhope was a mess at Lolapalloza until Jimin showed up. I saw Jin going to some movie Premier, he was nervous as hell being by himself. Tae invited Jimin to his fan meet because he was nervous. JK was nervous without his Hyungs in the US, he admitted this on his docu series. Being nervous doesn't mean a person isn't ready for a Solo stage. It just means they are human. That all had anxieties being on their own and they admitted this through conversations on their lives, documentaries and content. But they all pushed through and did well. Even the little live performances Jimin did, he killed it.
The only reason he said he wasn't ready for a concert was because he needed to write more songs.
But you'll push this narrative that he was scared to death. Everyone gets excited to see their brothers visit them in set. Jesus f***ng christ! I get why there is Solos stans
