Hi, great video review of a nice looking crane, the Hatton’s crane has nothing to do with this crane apparently, a few years ago Bachmann & Liliput produced a small crane truck that was self propelled, why didn’t they at least make this model self propelled or the jib have some movement, it could have been so much better, you stated that Accurascale and Rails of Sheffield got their hands on Hatton’s old tooling once they had ceased trading, do you know who got their hands on the Rail Head Treatment Train mouldings? Who aver it was is sitting on a great seller in my opinion, I think this crane is a bit overpriced for a detailed wagon that has so much potential, this red model looks seriously cool, I’m a big departmental yellow livery fan and I’m very happy they have produced 2 different models in the yellow livery, a lot of modellers who have like to have seen a Balfour Beatty livery model, I guess the collectors club will probably get that one, I wonder if this model will be fazed out like the Bachmann 45ton Ransom & Rapier model that came out in 2019/20, many thanks for sharing.
Generally speaking EFE Toolings are developed from the ground up by Kernow (or whoever is in charge of them) There have been a couple of releases in the past that have used existing toolings by both Heljan & DJM Models. But generally most the more recent releases have been developed by Kernow from the ground up. As far as I understand, the Hattons Origins YOB never reached past the CAD stage and there were no early Engineering Prototypes produced (that I know of) so it would have been unlikely that either Kernow or Bachmann would have boughts the right to the "toolings" as... well... they technically never existed in the first place... I could be wrong though, but I have my suspicions that this is much like the EFE Rail 143 Pacers where they weren't actually using the Realtrack tooling as some people claimed they were. Regardless, it is a nice looking crane and I have ordered that Jarvis/Fastline livery as I am a big fan of departmentals (hope they bring out one in the Balfour and Beatty livery as that one will be for sure a hot seller)
When hattons announced the YOB in 2017 i ordered two Balfour Beatty liveried versions. I think it was around 2020 Hattons e mailed me to see they had cancelled production due to insufficient purchaser interest. I think their version was intended to have a posable jib. If Chris of Kernow purchased the tooling rights i am surprised it was never released by Kernow as an exclusive. They are expensive for what they are but i think they have sold pretty well despite the cost 😊
I like the look of these and thanks for the tip about the price from Chris' Crafts. Cheers from Teignmouth!

@modelrailwaynoob I've ordered 2! Hattons had 2 diff number, annoying that efe are dribbling them out
You shouldn't have paid that much Hattons held a reputation for keeping fair prices this is ridiculous but I hope the model is wort it in the long run
