Power Query closely connected with power bi file alone. If you want to store your power query output to SharePoint then use SSIS latest version. You have option to use power query source and output can be stored in any destination that SSIS supports

I see the RLS has to be mapped for each dataset in Service which is time consuming activity when you have 100+ datasets in your workspace. Is there a way we can do it at workspace level so that one time you set up for data source it is handled ?

You can use username() when you data has the format of DOMAIN\username. Alternatively, you can use userprincipalname(), which always returns the user in the format of their user principal name, e.g username@contoso.com

Live connection means..I hope you connecting to SSAS analysis service In that case, you need to apply RLS in SSAS layer
What is difference between parameteres and RLS?
RLS is data security. Data restriction. Parameter is showing dynamic content, based on selection showing respective data.
