No you’re right, but a pulley hooked to a staple would pull right out unless it was meant to fail for some reason they wouldn’t have used this. They would have drilled a hole through the post with an eye bolt or wrapped rope around a post to anchor a pulley. This staple would be used to anchor rope for a walkway or for fencing of some sort. It could also be used for a latch or something else that would be low strain. Staples like these have always sucked for high strain pulling outwards. They were plentiful because they were easy to make but they can’t hold much weight. It’s just a bent nail to hold something down. I’m a historian focused on ships from the 15-1700s
The treasures went long ago. Still it would be cool to see the "Vault" and possibly a few questions answered. Every find leads to more questions, keeping the mystery going 🎉
They've clearly been avoiding the Chappell Vault for years now as it probably would provide answers and possibly solve the Oak Island Money Pit mystery. Problem is, that would end the show........
I saw similar symbols on the steps and on some of the bricks in a cathedral in Evora, Portugal that began construction in the 12th century. I have pictures of them that I wish I could post here but they look VERY similar.
Unless it's a (religious) tomb contained in an Ossuary within the alleged Chappell Vault placed deep underground FROM BELOW via one or more cave/niche entrances at the shoreline that were above the mean high water line in ancient times. With the slowly-rising sea level over the past two millennium, everything is now underwater and inaccessible. Oak Island is truly an enigma.......
They have found a few genuine and interesting artefacts . Likely the island has been settled or used as a base earlier than records show . Treasure is another matter entirely .
Why haven't they been able to finish digging the money pit after finding the flood tunnels? Why would anyone bury treasure and make it impossible to recover? Why did they go through such an extent to protect something and never return to recover it?
It is a tomb that is religious in significance and I would be afraid to guess whose remains are buried there that were brought to North America (i.e. The New World) from across the Atlantic.
At 30:04 the markings carved in that stone, the bottom figure, the arrow, which can also mean weapon is a Kemetic symbol dating back to 3200 BCE. A shipwreck found off Florida dated back to about that time. These figures may be far older than Templar times, or the old symbols were used to hide their meanings should someone find them. I don’t understand- no one is forced to watch. If you choose to watch then stop whining! I love the history and travels and the equipment used to examine the items they find. PLEASE no more whining and complaining.
The lead that found I think is a toy making kids cuts leaves and soft plants for playing they cut by using round metal or that lead item you found.. they put string on two whole in center and they make it turn by puling the string in both hands...
This is the only show I know that goes for 20 odd episodes a season. You only get 10 15 mins max of new footage (most of that is standing at a table looking at cores of mud) And the rest is just going on about previous stuff we've seen. They can't mention phipps without a 10 min description of his life and this is guaranteed every episode! At the end of the show they give a coming up next time section. This really is the best you can expect from the next episode and normally turns out to be no where near a s interesting as they have made it out to be. Out of 20 episodes you will at max see 1.5 hours of new stuff the rest is filler
Could the lead scallop edged item be a Whirlygig toy, string was threaded through the holes and when pulled taut the item revolved creating a whirring sound
I had one when I was little, got it stuck in my sister's hair, (they stick real good!)😆 Mom had to cut it out, sister had a little bald spot for months. 😂
The island lots were sold and farmed so farmers would fill low spots with rocks then cover with dirt. Farmers don’t like rocks or holes so the rocks go in holes if you ask a farmer.

The island will sink into the ocean before they find anything to do with silver or gold.
The treasure is the money made by the show and the locals on income from people making the show
That half coin resembles the mark in the stone . Half moon with a hole or mark.
For all filmmakers: THIS is a Dutch accent!!!
Staple may be from the oyster farm
Imagine they get to the bottom of the pit and there’s nothing there.

Find one artifact and quit? Gary needs fired and hire a real gold finder.
LOL!!! This is just an "Entertainment" TV show. It is not a bona fide Documentary.
Bills diet is going well.
The lead that found I think is a toy making kids cuts leaves and soft plants for playing they cut by using round metal or that lead item you found.. they put string on two whole in center and they make it turn by puling the string in both hands...
Espero que de una vez descubran ...como diria a Tutankamon y cosas maravillosas..... avisen 😢
This is the only show I know that goes for 20 odd episodes a season. You only get 10 15 mins max of new footage (most of that is standing at a table looking at cores of mud)
And the rest is just going on about previous stuff we've seen.
I agree and it is interesting that even the archeologists haven’t a clue! It is like our fidget devices but considered a toy back in its prime.
Came to say the same, how they dont know with all the knowledge is beyond me
I had one when I was little, got it stuck in my sister's hair, (they stick real good!)😆
Mom had to cut it out, sister had a little bald spot for months. 😂
The island lots were sold and farmed so farmers would fill low spots with rocks then cover with dirt. Farmers don’t like rocks or holes so the rocks go in holes if you ask a farmer.
I thought they generally built walls, roads/bridges, or building foundations with them.
🤷♀️
@@Christina-mx1nr one man ? They generally make piles here and there they occasionally build other things. Most field stones are round and not great for building. They just shift them to the property line or fill a hole or make manny small piles and sometimes make French drains in their fields. Maybe there is record of what Samuel did there.
@@andrewsock1608 idk if that’s correct. I live in New England, am an environmental scientist, like to dig for old bottles, and have been on and on many many old farms . Many foundations with round stone because granite is, well, hard…for one…
