Great video! I've seen Bozo Texino markings as far north as Alaska.
My Grandfather worked 37 years on the "Frisco Line" as a track foreman and my Dad was born in 1929 two weeks after the stock market crash. Dad told me that when he was 14 years old that him and my Uncle were told that they could have summer jobs if they could get to Kansas (They were in Missouri). So one morning they hopped a slow moving freight train enroute to Kansas with an old hobo and Dad said the old hobo started to immediately dance around the interior of the boxcar while swearing a blue streak of profanity. Dad and my Uncle finally calmed the old guy down and asked him what was wrong. "Got a damn flat wheel on this sumbitch, don't ya feel it, boy!?" Dad said that he and my Uncle talked for several hours with the old guy during the trip and that it got very cold during the night. Just before the sun set, the old hobo began ripping down the tar paper from the interior of the boxcar and showed the two boys how to make sleeping bags. Dad said that he slept nice and warm in his tar paper sleeping bag that night. A day and a half later, they rolled into Kansas City (I think), at around midnight. The old hobo then pointed and said "OK, gents, you want to cross over those two other tracks and at twelve twenty five a train will roll through and take you where you want to go." The old hobo knew exactly where he was and at twelve twenty five my Dad and Uncle were on their way again. This all happened close to 80 years ago and the hobo they'd ridden with then was old, he'd probably ridden the rails since the time of the Civil War.

When i was in the Hagia Sofia my eye fell on a tiny glass box with a dusty sign. When i came closer i could see it was graffiti: some guy named Halvdan stood where i stood then, but long ago(around 1000 years ago) and wanted to leave his mark i suppose. Made me laugh very hard, such a beautiful reminder of how we've always been the same.

I saw this film on its first run I believe, at the Red Vic Theatre on Haight Street and I believe Bill spoke in a Q&A. Took a long lunch on the bosses dime and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've bought the Zine several times and the film twice over the years and I hope people who see this here do the same. Like the underground music scene, this is how new people first hear the music and then buy the cassette or vinyl. I doubt Bill would be mad about you uploading this. I sure appreciate it because I can share it with people more easily and they will make purchases from his site. Laissez les bons temps rouler

This is by far one the most fascinating documentaries I've ever seen 👏 Please submit this to festivals if you haven't already. On Soft White Underbelly, Mark Laita recently interviewed a young train hopper and I was commenting on the little tags I had seen in Ashland, Oregon years ago and one person directed me to this film and with goose bumps I realized it was in fact Bozo Texino's tag I remembered and what I was really referring to.
Thank you for the amazing work and keep on creating and teaching through your documentary work!

This documentary was the catalyst for me creating my album "Aphantasia" and lots of the documentary is sampled throughout it. At the time I was between jobs and created the music for fun. Now, over 2 years later, I'm a full time artist with over 2 million streams. Wild - Thank you Bozo Texino.

If I remember correctly, summer of 1978, the game was could only ride a car if it had a palm tree herby or bozo texino mark. Every train we hoped had one, I don't remember having to pass up a single train because it didn't have either. Fun days.

we met at a screening in Ottawa many years ago now & i was flabbergasted at the high level of accomplishment this film represents even after that single viewing. i've since watched it manymany times (& just now yet again) & it only gets better. favourite moments from the film? pretty much "all of them" (Robert's monologue standing out for a lot of reasons (good idea to back it with a static shot)): this should be required viewing in any film studies course, documentary or otherwise.
