    I am learning proper freestyle for the first time in my life and this video will hopefully help me get to my goal of doing a proper flip turn. Thank you for producing this. Btw, the tune/beat to this training video got my head bobbing. I wonder who it is.

    what's go wrong usually and makes people quit learning the flip turn is when they try it for the first few times, water pressure kicks in their noses due to wrong technique, with horrible feelings, making it unlikely to continue,, I myself was so frustrated, but I didn't give up, once you know how important the arm position is and its movement, and you know the technique, it becomes a little easier... So yes what is hard, is the horrible feeling when pressure gets in the sinuses and nose

      Interesting point. Breathing and breathing patterns are a fundamental and base skill. Unfortunately proper breath control is not actively learnt or developed at an early stage for many. When learnt early it integrates into EVERY skill in swimming that we do.

    Cool, but I am surprised you didn’t speak of using a nose clip,, as getting water up your nose is off putting.
    A nose clip can really help here .

    How do you breathe while doing so??

    Every time time I do this I end up on my side.

    • @aquaticeducation7765
      @aquaticeducation7765  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Abby, awesome that you are working on your turns. If you end up on your side it is likely that you are 'twisting' or rotating through your shoulders. The steps using the boards helps to control this twisting and help learn the movement of tucking the head and driving the chest toward the knees.

    Started swimming because my 11 year old daughter is beating me already. Started practicing tumble / flip turn but I can’t seem to do it. I turn over but i make like a 90 degree turn and my feet never hit the wall. Been trying and trying and just cannot flip correctly. What do I do wrong?

      Nice job!
      If you are not able to complete a full turn it is likely because of turning or twisting through the shoulders. A great way to work on turns and the fundamentals is out of the water. When we are out of the water we can focus on better understand how our body is moving and building base movements.
      Check out facebook.com/swimnastics/videos/238711013389123/ and watch Kirsten demonstrate an out of water progression that can help when you get back in.
      Good luck and let us know how you go. Nick
