I always agree with Roy, as soon as he said he hates the way Unlimited looks and loves how this one does I knew that what ever he said after that was gonna be exactly where I align.

Roy you successfully hyped me on this. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and love that Cara Dune is here she’s my wife’s favourite character. Definite pickup for us.
It's a campaign game with only 4 maps... In the huge star wars universe. You can easily screenshot 30 maps from any available lore and drop some hexes on them to create some diverserty and progression in a campaign.
Played a demo of this at the UK Games Expo and the gameplay is great, the card system and enemy reactions really innovative. My concern is simply the small nunber or maps and whether that limits repeat play interest.
The thing I dislike about this is they have acrylic standees but only available through asmodee play days and the stores in my area do not participate.
Tbh, I don't need replayability, I have kids and little time. Give me a Jaws of the Lion with a The Old Republic story in Star Wars for me to coop over many nights and you can have a lot of money.
I'm with you Roy. While I like the look of the game just fine I prefer the look of the Fantasy Flight "Netrunner" look. But that said, I like the art and graphical design just fine.

Just realized it... what is with the podcaster mics? Sound quality was never bad in this channel (on reviews at least)... It seems to create a visual barrier to the audience...

For what its worth, this game is not a campaign. All missions are standalone and can be played in any order. There is a "guide deck" and hidden envelopes, but their purpose is to introduce new rules/complexity after you've learned the basics. After 7 games, you've unlocked everything.
I am overjoyed when influencers DO NOT know about a game in advance of retail sale. Then they are on an even footing with me and can't hype the game for months/years before it's for sale and then put it down in favor of another game once it actually is for sale. If it were up to me no one would be able to review a game that is not for sale retail.
Since this game is more advanced, I'm planning to get the Last Airbender game and if I can get anyone to play through with me, we can then graduate to this game and/or Imperial Assault.
I give this review a 6/10. Roy was on point but I don't think Zee and Tom were the right reviewers for this game. I don't think they "get it". This is a genre of games "casual storytelling RPG" that they are not the best reviewers to represent in my opinion.
I haven't watched The Mandalorian. I have no interest in Star Wars anymore. I demoed this game at Gencon and enjoyed it. I picked up a copy since I couldnt get the SWU exclusives. I don't care for Star Wars the IP, but they have some great board games. I can only think of maybe two bad SW games.
The Star Wars theme is the least interesting aspect of the game for me. That is just a personal taste. If it were Indiana Jones or even a generic fantasy game , I would be more interested. But I feel like Star Wars has grown stale and while the gameplay looks interesting, I am not interested enough to play it.
Love Zee, but sometimes he gets a meh vibe about one aspect (here it is the "mainstream" look/art) and it seems to taint his entire view of the game. See also: Wyrmspan
That's an issue for many gamers. There are games I refuse to play just because of the look. This is one of those games. Because it looks like Star Wars! (I absolutely hate that I have a Star Wars game in my collection but Pandemic trumps Star Wars. Apparently.) But the cut-and-pasted-ness of this game is a major turnoff for me as well. I also have a minor issue with Wyrmspan. If it looked as good as Wingspan, I would be playing it right now. But it annoys me enough that I haven't even bought it for fear the next version might be Vampyrespan and it'll look as good as Wing but play more like Wyrm. Also, now I want Vampyrespan.

Zee is on point unless he misses the point. I've seen him give innovative games a very low score because he didn't understand them. A big example was Grifters. It's one of the best games I've ever played and he didn't get it AT ALL. I think there is a tendency in Dice Tower to give simple games a low rating unless they are the best of a known genre. Hit them with an innovative small game that does everything a bigger game is expected to do and watch them give it a mediocre score. But that's okay, no one is perfect, and the 90% rule (90% of everything is crap) applies to reviews too most reviews are not very good. I've been thinking about if I didn't have a day job I would probably make a "review the review" channel where I review other people's reviews of board games, video games, movies, etc. NO ONE should be exempt from critical examination, and that includes reviews and reviewers. I say this as a pro reviewer who has received many tens of thousands of dollars in free product in exchange for reviews.

You can make it into anything you want, but out of the box it's not a campaign game. It's 4 standalone missions based on Mando season 1.
