Blimey, that's an amazing generous kit. Plenty of parts, the engineering that had to go into producing that is phenomenal. Well done Airfix. Great choice and perfect scale. Wow the insides and the clear parts look awesome. They didnt cut back on anything. Thanks for a very rapid review on the day. I was only there for saturday unfortunately and somehow didnt managed to find you to say hi,shake your and and say thanks. Definately needs two days for the event. My first time today. Still buzzing. Lovely to see our Ukranian friends of ICM there giving away a generous catalogue of their new releases. Great event, great displays, and a smashing presentation from Airfix. Thanks Gary, your'e the Don :-)
I looked at it today and have to say it looks amazing. I can't wait to get my paws onto it and push it right to the front of the stash. Thanks for such a detailed review. I didn't feel I could spent too long with it as was very busy and definitely a centre of attention.
This is an absolute must for me and I was very encouraged by what I saw in your excellent review. The way the kit is moulded and engineered seems a departure from the normal Airfix approach. The internal framework is really good and the aircrew moulded in pieces look much cleaner and more detailed than normal Airfix offerings.
No. 16 operated the Sepecat Jaguar, I hope this is a hint from Airfix of more good things to come. 🍀😊 A lovely lovely kit of the Lysander which will be added to my stash Gary, and hoping for an SOE version in the next release - with the special compartment in the rear for ferrying secret agents. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Looking forward to more of your videos from the Telford show. 👍🏻👍🏻
Yesterday I received a message that someone is going to give me a surprise kit. The Airfix 1/48 TSR2, with some after market kits. Fortunately, Airfix now brings the Lysander and not the TSR. And so 2 open planes on my wishlist will be filled in soon
Nice one Gary! 👍 Thanks for the review, and so quick too! Good work that man! Looks really good, nice moulding, lots of options too. Think I'll preorder! Hope you had a great day Gary. Look forward to hearing all the news! Take care and enjoy tomorrow 👍😊
Good point. There's a company that has been doing all the new releases of Airfix 1/72 ,im sure they'll do this one. The flying greenhouse. Name escapes me but Gary will know
@ You are a star, it will probably beat the Gannet here, although it’s a Christmas present so it won’t get started for a while… UPDATE - the masks did beat the Gannet, so well done to CTScaleModels
Saw this post last night when l got back to our hotel and was to tired to comment after walking around a really great show, well l must admit l don’t think anyone saw that coming what a great call by Airfix and in 1/48 well done guys it did look good on the table 👍
Once you have landed you will be met by members of the resistance who will take you to the town of Nouvion where you will meet with a local café owner called Rene Artois...
Looks amazing! Thank you Gary for getting a sneak peak....Although I am not a massive fan of internal details that can't be seen I do like the fact you are essentially "building " the Lysander as it was constructed just up the road from me in Weston-super-Mare!!! I wonder if they will bring out a "spy" version with supply canisters and a secret agent ready to parachute into occupied France!!??❤❤❤❤
Really interesting subject and beautifully executed, including the crew figures. The glass especially is difficult to model. Wasn't it a 1:72 kit -- Matchbox? -- that had a spy figure climbing into the plane with a briefcase?
Lovely kit! I've just noticed the box art has the Polish scheme. Unusual and enticing choice :) The figures look fabulous. Departure for Airfix to do multipart figures. You could even do a Sleepy Hollow variant with a headless pilot instead of a headless horseman *lol* Neither scheme colour call out has the gunner depicted; all marks had a gunner, although the twin barrel wasn't introduced until the mark //III//. Earlier marks only had a single gun. Oopsie. Maybe there's an option for no gun at all to depict 138 (Special Duties) Flight (later 138 Squadron)at RAF Tempsford. If not I can see a future variant coming out with an all black scheme :) Enjoy Telford!
Definitely had my interest at the press release (Polish squadron 👍). Now seeing the plastic and the instructions, looks like a well thought out kit. The multiple options isea is bang on, elevating what would otherwise be a ho hum 72nd scale, now its an intriguing 48th with a variety of directions it can go. Hopefully appealing to a wider buyer range. Eduard shouldn't have too many problems converting their older aftermarket parts over to fit this and its future iterations. Delightfully different choice. Gary, lastly, put a bug in Dale's ear and ask him how much stock is he shipping to the Hornby Washington State warehouse by early January. Would hate to see this kit get squashed by a serious doubling in price. Great job 👍☕🐢

That is one hell of a kit. This the same sort of engineering that went into the Anson. Best Lysander ever - probably. Does this mean I put my two Matchbox 1/32 versions up for sale....again probably.
Wonderful Gary, thank you & Airfix. I will say a most welcome kit and looks marvellous. Not to spoil the good news. Maybe a couple of resistance fighter to meet the spy & escort him in a future release. I will definitely be buying one. Good luck for the rest of the day at Telford. 😊❤
It looks great and if I hadn't already built one in 1/48 already, I'd have gone for this. I really don't want 2 and I love the Gavia one already built. It's exactly the same for the Walrus and Defiant. Already done them from other brands. But it's great they're going with 48 RAF. How about something we haven't seen in 48 next. Whitely maybe...
Great subject. Like it. By the way, can somebody explain me why the info and profiles on the sides of the box are positioned upside down compared to the top art of the box ?

Preordered mine yesterday , thanks for the video the kit really looks a bit special. Interesting that Airfix have designed the fuselage so that bits can be cut out. I wonder how those who complained that there was too much of the Bristol Bulldog that couldn’t be seen once the fuselage was assembled will feel about that?
Not specifically, but i would expect at least one if not two later releases - it's just the best way to maximise return on the investment in tooling and design.
PANEL LINES! This aircraft had an aluminium frame with doped fabric covering. Why do we need panel lines where there were none on the original aircraft?

Pre ordered looking forward to what looks like a cracking model from Airfix . For me a great choice as I love the Lysander
It's a big, brawny beast of an airplane, a great example of "army cöoperation".
Very nice review Gary, thank you
Very nice and as I only build post -war and the Egyptian Air Force operated these until 1947-48 , then I'm on for a brace .

The Airfix 1/48 Lysander looks total freaking amazing I hope for the next surprise airfix release kit for 2025 is the 1/48 scale N.A P-51B/C Mustang?.
Eduard have just released the P-51B/C in 1/48 (I bought one yesterday at Telford!) so I don’t think it will be high on Airfix’s list.

There is a rear gunner in the set, and this box says it is for the Mk.I and the Mk.III.
@@garys_stuff My mistake, I misread the box art as Mk I/II although the actual gun is still wrong for a Mk I and should be single barrelled.
