  • Don’t be afraid to modify your micro four-wheel-drive. With some basic hand tools, a jack and some mechanical ability, you can make and install your own body lift. On a sidenote, I figured out after the fact that you can do the entire 1 inch lift cut from half-inch cutting board. Half inch up top and half inch down below.

      I did that before I even thought about the body lift LOL! I made some nice little cuts, folded them neatly and then beat the snot out of them with a 4 pound sledge. For a minute there I thought I had it, But then I took it for a very spirited ride off-road.

    What size/kind are your wheels? Would it fit a 1.5 inch lift?

      tires i meant tires

      The tires in this video are 31 inches tall. Unfortunately they would not work with a 1.5 inch total lift. If 1.5 is all you have or intend to add, I think the biggest tire would be a 235 75 15. Even though, it would probably still require just a touch of body trimming. I had that size tire prior to this upgrade with just 2 inches of lift and no issues. All I did was trim a little bit of the front bumper skin down low so that it didn’t contact at full turn.

      Even with the 235 tire, the wheels are important in terms of offset. I recommend either putting an inch and a half spacer behind your stock wheels or switching out to a -6 mm aftermarket wheel in the 15 x 7 variety.

    I have a similar kia, 2002 sportage rag top for sale. I'm in california. Is there an enthusiast group I can advertise it on? Head gasket needs to be repaired. Just want it to go to someone who'll appreciate it

    will a 3 inch ( 78mm) holesaw be ok ?

    • @micro-pigoffroadclub8387
      @micro-pigoffroadclub8387  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will get underneath and take a look. The 3 inch may fit inside the cup that is formed to the body, but honestly I think 3 inches is too small if you are going to set it on top of the original rubber body bushing that sits in the frame

      @@rodneyflying9124 It looks like I used 3 1/8 inch. With that being said, the 3 inch will definitely fit inside of the cup of the body. My only concern at that point would be the smaller diameter sitting on the rubber body bushing. My gut says it will work just fine, but in a perfect world, I would put a 4 inch fender washer underneath it to make a larger surface on the bottom. That would distribute some of the weight across that bushing. But honestly, as long as the discs you cut Are flat, it should work fine.

      @@micro-pigoffroadclub8387 I used a 4 in. holesaw and got the 3 7/8in slugs no problem but only had a 3in holesaw and got 2 7/8 in slugs will they be ok or not..?? The cutting boards I used was 3 slugs to make 1 inch. I'm in Thailand

      Sorry, I have a hard time keeping up with the TH-cam identifications. Is this Darrell? I still have not come across one that fits the 2006. I had to make mine fit from an XJ jeep. If you are part of the micro pig Facebook group, let’s talk about it in the group! If we could see some pictures underneath the hood and with the body contour looks like, maybe you can make one fit on yours as well.

    you think you could body swap a Sportage

    • @micro-pigoffroadclub8387
      @micro-pigoffroadclub8387  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The first generation Sportage has an independent frame much like a small truck. You can remove the body. Starting with the second generation, it was a unibody rather than a separate body from frame.
