crazy, I'm on the computer at the perfect time! not even 2mins later! I love these videos so much my man. Keep em coming an keep on going! I've been watching for a while.
Thanks for sharing... I have no words, but amazing! Your vids are always amazing! What a journey you have been on, and still going. Lucky you! Enjoy it all. Love the waterfalls, and steep terrain. Scenery is gorgeous. I almost felt the fresh pines and cool air!
Liking this video, liked the part showing the condition of the trail, the water features are amazing. It would be nice if you maybe showed us a breakfast, lunch or dinner what you do for meals and prep. Thanks :D
Another great job. 50 mile day, wow! Getting closer and closer. Days look warm I bet the nights are getting cold. Keep it up and thank you for sharing the trip.
Holy shit these videos of Oregon are making me wicked home sick! Mt Hood is the first mountain I've ever climbed so this brings back alot of memories. when I went it was the winter time so it's great to see how this looks during the summer! Good luck on the rest of your trip. I like your stuff because they are simple yet informative and fun to watch. I'm leaving for Gorham, NH in about 2 week and hiking down to Harper's Ferry or beyond. I'm planning to post the experience on TH-cam and was inspired by your own series a great deal. Thanks and good luck, Gabe
At 15:49 I expect to see "Paramount" flash across the screen!! "The Shining" and what looks like "Bridge on the River Kwai" all represented - a great movie themed section!! Beautiful, Thanks!!!!
That is such a beautiful part of the country. A trail going behind a waterfall is about the coolest trail I've ever seen. Hard to believe you've hike almost the same distance as the AT. Won't be long an you'll reach the northern terminus of this one as well.

Amazing scenary. Beautiful places you have up there. Hope someday do this epit trail too. Congrats
oh man i love when i recognise a place soon as i saw the waterfalls i knew you were coming down eagle river gorge and tunnel falls is my favorite , me and my old lady's first date was a hike to tunnel falls a casual 13 mile round trip form the parking lot . me and my buddy also staged a day hike overnight where we went as a day hike and 7 miles in decided to spend the night with only what we brought it went good till about 5 am when it poured on us and doused the fire and finally hiked out when it was light enough. our makeshift lean to remanents are probably still back there in the woods somewhere..that is also where i realised space blankets are the biggest pile of crap..ill always carry a 6 ounce silnylon tarp instead
Thanks for sharing your awesome trip!! Maybe you could make a video on how to stay clean on a long hike like you are on. I serious can't find any decent videos on that subject !!! Maybe to personal for some I guess ? Anyway,be safe !
Sounds like there may have been a destination problem. I sent your package to the town of Snoqualmie, off I90 just south of North Bend. There is no post office I know of at Snoqualmie Pass. But I can forward another to you at your next re-supply if you don’t make it down to Snoqualmie, let me know. You should try though, maybe catch Snoqualmie Falls!! Very cool falls. Best of luck. Ben
Yup this sounds right. I looked up the distance and it's about 44 miles away by road. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to make it down there, really sorry about that. I will however be in Skykomish (an actual town with a post office) soon. It should be a good place for me to pick up a package. I know that most POs will forward packages over the phone at no cost. Thanks so much, Joe
i climbed alot of these peaks you are traversing..the best way to glissade is either a shovel backwards sit on it and ride it down..but in summer obviously you dont have one that would be stupid to carry unless you were actually summiting ...but you do have your rain skirt or if you have nyln pants it really helps with glissading ..but be careful it can also be too fast and you need to know self arrest using your hiking pole or something from your pack..even a wood stick can work to self arrest if you got going to fast...
I love Eagle Creek, going up there for an overnighter tomorrow. Thru hiker told me last week that diversions exist for a reason, Im thinking Eagle Creek is a good example? Great vids, helping me prepare for next year. Thanks and have a great trip
Biophthera picked up a pair of LaSportiva Wildcats, wow, 12 miles and not a single blister. Added a pair of darn tough socks as well. Thanks for the recommendation
Oh, I forgot to ask, did you make it into bend at all? I don't remember the trail being that close (I use to live in Bend) but it would have been nice for you to visit. If possible check out McMenamin's on Bond street; they have a Turkish bath, movies with a full service bar and kitchen where you can order from your seat, and all around great food and drinks. If you go early during happy hour, it's reasonably priced as well.
I've never seen such pretty country! Sorry about the audio cutting out :-( what's the name of that huge waterfall? I want to go there. Seeing the huge canyons and steep walls is breathtaking. Your vids allow me to feel as though I'm hiking right beside you, they make me want to reach out and touch the scenery.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I have been slowly getting ready for my PCT hike and your video's keep me going. Hey, how did you avoid heat stroke in CA? I am think I might do the JMT and then the PCT through OR and WA since I am heat sensitive. Any suggestions?
It looks like if I forward the package to Skykomish, you may have the same issue, as the PCT goes thru Stevens Pass and Skykomish is about another 40 mile hitch west of Stevens. If you think you are going to make it to the town of Skykomish, I'll forward it, but if not, I'll pick up the package and either drive up and deliver it at Stevens Pass PCT trailhead, or just bag it... cheers - Ben
Yeah, I'll definitely be going into Skykomish. Unlike Snoqualmie Pass, I'll have to hitch into town for supplies. The guide is saying that it's a 22 mile hitch. Thanks for taking the time to look into this, Joe
I'm guessing the auto noise reduction on the iPhone can't separate the voices from the waterfall or wind so it lowers all the volume...What is the name of the waterfall with the tunnel?
Hey man. I do a bit of hiking, climbed a few mountains here in the UK and Norway and done a few short hiking trips - but never more than a 3/4 days of consecutive hiking. Very interested in doing something longer but I can imagine my feet getting pretty ruined, painful hips/knees etc from carrying load over so many miles over so many days. How do you get around that? I guess your feet have gotten tough and your body has adapted to thru hiking?
+Tom Bugler Yeah, after about a month on trail, your body slowly adapts to the lifestyle. Aches and pains (generally) go away, feet toughen up, and you become a hiking machine. My advice for starting off is to lower your pack weight as much as you safely can. This will take loads of stress off of your body and create a much more pleasant hiking experience. While you should never have any sharp pains, aches are quite common when starting on a long hike.
+Justin Cochran (NukeMaN) Nope, I actually checked my backpack and poles inside of a protective box on the plane. I put it all in a box because I was afraid security would tear it up as they tend to do.
Is there a specific reason why you took 2013 off from long-distance hiking? Money? Superstition (unlucky 13)? Or had you just not decided that you wanted to do anything after the AT at that point? Just curious.
+87Khein Mostly so I could earn some more money for my next hike. I wasn't 100% certain I would go on to the PCT, but I knew that it was probably going to happen. Spending the time working up in Maine around all the finishing AT hikers sealed the deal for me on the PCT.
Do you happen to know the exact address you sent the package to? I'm at Snoqualmie right now and there doesn't seem to be a post office around. Maybe there's an acting post office? Thanks, Joe
Not exactly true. The exterior shots of The Shining (the movie) were filmed at Timberline. The Stanley Hotel is where King got his inspiration to write the story.

Your video blog of this trip is just beautiful. Thanks for taking me on your journey.

Precious times!

You'll have to share your TH-cam link.

Keep going, man! It's those last miles that kill ya! We are all rooting for you!
Always excited for the next video, keep them coming. I can't wait to have my turn on the trail, someday...
Thank you for sharing! Very inspiring to me. Almost got everything I need to do my first section hike on the PCT. Thanks again.

I am sure there is cool stuff to see in CA and WA, but ever time I see that
trail/cave/waterfall combo on a pct video I still find it amazing.
Welcome to Washington! Loving your videos so far. I'd love to buy you lunch at White Pass, if I knew when you were going to be there!
oh man i love when i recognise a place soon as i saw the waterfalls i knew you were coming down eagle river gorge and tunnel falls is my favorite , me and my old lady's first date was a hike to tunnel falls a casual 13 mile round trip form the parking lot . me and my buddy also staged a day hike overnight where we went as a day hike and 7 miles in decided to spend the night with only what we brought it went good till about 5 am when it poured on us and doused the fire and finally hiked out when it was light enough. our makeshift lean to remanents are probably still back there in the woods somewhere..that is also where i realised space blankets are the biggest pile of crap..ill always carry a 6 ounce silnylon tarp instead
I was section hiking from timberline to cascade locks about a day ahead of you during that rainstorm.
Okay I'l try and forward it tomorrow (Monday) to Skykomish. Enjoy the hike to Stevens Pass. Kendall catwalk is cool- blasted out of a rock face...
Thanks for sharing your awesome trip!! Maybe you could make a video on how to stay clean on a long hike like you are on. I serious can't find any decent videos on that subject !!! Maybe to personal for some I guess ? Anyway,be safe !
Congrats, through Oregon.
Enjoying your videos immensely. Would you mind mentioning the name of the last waterfall that you walked behind?

Oh yeah. I've heard the only reason it's not the PCT is because horses can't travel over it.
Biophthera picked up a pair of LaSportiva Wildcats, wow, 12 miles and not a single blister. Added a pair of darn tough socks as well. Thanks for the recommendation
Awesome man.

I did and it was amazing! Great trail town.

pretty sure that's tunnel falls. I feel very lucky to live 20min from the CRG!
I still check everyday on TH-cam to see if you have uploaded anything.
How are you editing your videos on the go?
And do you ever miss your hammock?
I'd like to buy you lunch at White Pass, if I knew when you were going to be there!

My best advice is to pick up a GoLite chrome dome umbrella. It keeps the intense sun off and keeps you cooler.
It looks like if I forward the package to Skykomish, you may have the same issue, as the PCT goes thru Stevens Pass and Skykomish is about another 40 mile hitch west of Stevens. Sorry you keep having audio trouble, but the visuals make up for it. Amazes me how nice the actual path is on the PCT.
Do you see a lot of Cairns on the trail? Doesn't seem like as many as you find on the AT
Sometimes, but they are scarce. They generally show up on ridge lines above tree line.
As you enter the state of Washington, will do change any of your equipment? A different sleeping bag or raingear or warmer clothes or anything?
I'm getting my goretex jacket and rain kilt sent to me.
50 miles in one day is insane. You would have to hike over 16 hours, not including rest stops. Not something I could do.
I'm guessing the auto noise reduction on the iPhone can't separate the voices from the waterfall or wind so it lowers all the volume...What is the name of the waterfall with the tunnel?
Tunnel Falls.

Not far to go now. You should be finished within 3 weeks I would say. Unless you decide to take a lot of zeros.... :)
cant see to find video 16 and 17
noob question for you, did you ship your poles and stove out to california before you flew out?
+Justin Cochran (NukeMaN) Nope, I actually checked my backpack and poles inside of a protective box on the plane. I put it all in a box because I was afraid security would tear it up as they tend to do.
+Justin Cochran (NukeMaN) Oh and I picked up my fuel when I got to California.

Great video! Sent you a package to Snoqualmie P.O.
What!? Really? Thanks! I look forward to getting there.

What app have you been using to make all of your videos?
Filmic for the shooting and iMovie for the editing.
Wow !!!!!!!!!!
50 miles in a day?? Were you running?
+Aaron Tribble Just hiking fast. If I remember correctly, for the first half of the day, I averaged 4 mph.
Hi buddy, actually, the Stanley Hotel in Colorado was used for the movie The Shining.
Not exactly true. The exterior shots of The Shining (the movie) were filmed at Timberline. The Stanley Hotel is where King got his inspiration to write the story.
exterior was timberline, interior was a set in the uk
