G-Spot Tornado is my favorite song by Frank Zappa and Jazz from Hell is my favorite album by him so I was very excited to hear him talk about the Synclavier.

Zappa would be going crazy with Ableton Live/Logic Pro or even more state of the art programs if he were still alive today.

The Synclavier part starts around 7:57 for those that are just here for synths :)

A man so far ahead of his time, such a great shame he is no longer with us :(

Definitely my favorite part of the video. I love how blunt he was about it.

You know you shouldn't smoke in pyjamas. You might start a fire and burn your face.
I love how fast Frank thinks. His first filter: is this a yes or no question?
Funny how a man of so little words gives almost only high quality answers that seem even more relevant today.

Wow, I didn't know Frank Zappa invented passive-aggression.

One could certainly argue that he was a prominent practitioner.

It was pretty mild considering the interviewer's behavior.

You’re too delicate if you find this passive aggressive. This is a tired guy trying to be polite despite being tired, nothing more than that!

The interviewer, professional in his own right; wasn't a good fit for this interview.
It was a pretty good question about the electronics getting in the way of the "musicianship" of it all; but then he starts asking surface-level stuff like "what do you listen to around the house" and "are you a good dad" are not really something you ask when you get an opportunity like that, haha. You saw how he tensed up when Zappa mentioned religion; he completely changed the topic when it got interesting.

Who is the interview yes but it was also the show itself. That kind of show is not really compatible with reflective questions and answers.

I saw this guy interview the Sopranos cast for a reunion and he really asked the most surface level boring shit, also kept cutting off their answers with his own interjections. Not my favorite interviewer to say the least.

That "pole vault" comment was so quick and witty. His brain works so fast it's incredible. That analogy is hilarious and works perfectly. It was just a throwaway comment too, like he drops a million of those a day
