I bought my first KO RECENTLY and its very nice, and meets my needs for quaility and with a good price point. Im more inclined now to buy more in the future. If the plastic was inferior I wouldn’t have the same attitude however, so as long as they can keep them very comparable i cant see not wanting to save money. Especially now where here in the US inflationary PRICES ARE costing us in average of $400 extra per month.
I’m done with new preorders from FT. I’ll buy what I have preordered and then I’m done. My disposition is totally related to the absence of Bandit though. There are lots of loyal FT fans and that company doesn’t even care enough to officially say why they haven’t released that figure. Maybe we’ll get a KO of the Bandit design. I’d be in for that.
Hard to blame you. Like 5-6 companies have completed a Menasor since FT announced theirs. I'm guessing now that these designers leaving has dynamited the project for awhile. It's also likely damaged the companies reputation with potential new designers. Sounds like all the talent up and left, now it's just the parasites with no one to feed on... Betting we see a lot of reissues! Maybe Constructor levels of reissues.

I actually prefer a lot of other companies versions to FT. Like I sold my FT bugs after I got the MMC ones on sale for 100$ for the set. Not saying they are objectively better, but I like them a He11 of a lot more. That's happened with at least 3 other Fanstoys figures I've owned. I can see why they have a loyal fanbase because the sculpts are generally on point, but the transformations suck imo.
The only FT I want at this point is "Thomas" Astrotrain and what do know? They make a KO. 😂 The other was "Phoenix" Jetfire but now I'm just waiting on the Takara Jetfire coming in January. What can I say? If Takara doesn't make it I'm looking for the cheapest option that still looks good and doesn't have any serious quality control issues. Why I won't buy a ToyWorld Devastator and bought the Jinbao for now. Hoping a better option for him comes around.
About goddamn time someone KO'd Fanstoys. Super excited to get this, and the Thomas one! I own the OG Thomas, so two of those KOs would be a nice-to-have for train and shuttle modes. LESSSSGOOOOOO #TeamKO
I am ALL IN on any RE ISSUE of the FTs Dinobots. I missed them on their first run and went with GigaPower. I LOVE em, but would like an FT set as well, especially if they get KO'd at a lower price. FTs as good as they are, are Over Valued and I went with most ly alternatives with each Character. I do have FTs and they are GREAT, just Over Priced and Over Valued imho.
Personally, I avoid getting KOs, but I have to admit that they helped me get hold of the original FTs at reasonable prices. Before, getting a Quietus was an impossible dream with scalpers asking as high as 500 to 600 dollars for an MISB one. But now, I got the Quietus reissue at retail.
The reissues mean sweet FA if fans toys release them at inflated prices in comparison to what the original price was. I can understand a little mark up for inflation but they are selling them for eBay prices as the new standard retail price and that’s what is pissing fans off and creating the market for the KOs. Just because some idiot was willing to pay 500 dollars for a fans toys figure on eBay is not reflective of what everyone else is willing to pay. While I have mixed feelings about KOs the real reason they are so cheap is because the R&D is done so it’s just a case of producing the figure but FT has to allow for that when producing an original figure. But again when it comes to the reissues they’re almost at the same starting point as the KO companies.
To me the one FT mold that is Crying out to be KO'd is Perfect Fusion PF-01 Cesium, Fans Toys themselves have said that they are not going to re-issue that figure so to me that's a Green Light to one of these KO companies to make it and given the outrageous scalper premiums the original goes for on the aftermarket it would definitely be worth their while making it as there is already a demand for it.... Also I recently picked up the RP Cassettes at a Convention and now I want an Acoustic Wave to go with them but the price of the original has now gone out my reach so I'd be up for a KO of that 😊
Mike a follow up video idea. What this all means for resell value. I just did a check and it’s tanking prices. Sell your lupus and spotter now before it’s reissued!
Imagine if someone KO's the exclusive versions of their figures (e.g the chrome/G2/Diaclone Dinos or Phoenix X). That being said, I am under the belief that the exclusives they release should be what the figures should originally have been. Quietus T is the correct shade of blue/violet, and so on. It sounds like I'm rambling but also imagine if these KO's get the MP44 KO treatment, getting versions of the character that weren't even released (think of the Eva, SG, and Magnus repaints).
It needs to happen so that the costs come down, a lot of the costs have skyrocketed out of control so if they have competition it will only make the prices better.
When you think about it, they're all kind of KOs aren't they? If it ever came down to a legal argument over who owns the IP, Takara might stand by the side with folded arms and a single lifted eyebrow.
The irony of it. 3p were supposed to fill the gaps of the MP and now KOs are eating the lunch of 3p. Takara went to expensive then follow by 3p then they went the Takara way and now OKs are the affordable option.
Well it does make it easier if people would like to display both modes. For example FT-29 Quietus in Bot mode and MH-01B Hurricane in Alt mode. I missed out on FT42 Hunk and would definitely like to see a KO version so I could get a copy
Where did this information about Fanstoys designers being disgruntled come from? I’m just curious where I can read up on it. I’m kinda apathetic about it. Because of the scarcity of getting POs for their figures. The prices etc. I just collect what I like and what fits in with my collection.
I am at the convention right now. Your video here convinced me to not buy Fans Toys Hoist for $190. That and the fact that when Takara releases it, it will have a lot more accessories than the Fans Toys version.
And don't pay their designers, threaten retailers, and flat out ignore customers. No company has ever begged to be put out of business more than Fanstoys imo. Honestly I don't go in for much of their stuff. Too heavy and finicky for me. I can see the appeal to people who mainly display though, FT figures do look great. Not much fun to play with in my experience though.

All the things you said but ultimately the price increases, artificial scarcity, and not completing their combiners while continuing to release new stuff ended my affair. I did scoop up a discounted Sea Spray and Huffer, but it pretty much ends there.

Good video to ponder. I think that there is a culmination of things that has led us to this point now. FansToys I think took advantage of collectors by charging more than they should because...well people were willing to pay it. Back in the day the price difference between XTB and FT was not that much, but the gap has increased quite a bit. I think that FT now is overpriced by at least 25%. I wonder if designers saw the price increase and the increase in work, but never got any kind of bonus or raise? After you talked about designs maybe being stolen or designer having the rights to the design, it made me wonder if that is why we have not seen anything about Menasor because the design was stolen or taken? The false scarcity is not a good long term business strategy. I think there is also a factor of how good Legends scaled figures are now and the price is about 1/2 of what MP is. I am way to deep in MP to back out now, but if I had the chance to do over with what I know, I'd probably be in Legends scale now as the space and price allow for a larger more "complete" collection. I think a lot of fans just want to finish series like Headmasters and such. That then begs the question, what happens when you complete your entire collection? Just food for thought...
Big ticket items makes sense. Even though I have him, can't wait to see if they gonna KO Jetfire. I'd also be interested in cheaper Stunticons even though I'm sticking with my X-transbots version. I'm most likely gonna honor my current preorders so hopefully this brings the prices down.

Since imo the people who bought the KO'S already had the original, but couldn't pass it up due to the price! And the people who bought the KO'S only, would have Never bought the Original FT since the price might of been too high! Yes! I agree! The KO'S are diluting the market, bringing down the value! As good as this may be for buyers, it could put a huge dent in the FT secondary market for sellers. If I were to ever get out of MP collecting, specifically third party, I was hoping that FT would keep their value. Now...who knows?

How can Fanstoys complete the set without its design team. Hard to find new workers when you've got a history of not paying people. I'd say the War is already won. I do hope they release the last bot and Menasor though. I'm not in on the FT set, but I'd hate to see collectors that are get skrewed.
I'm not so sure these KOs can really hurt FT in the long run with collectors & here's why...I have the FT Quietus & both KO Hurricane figures because I wanted to see how good they were & should I sell my Quietus...they are good, but in the long run they may yellow and/or break because they're not fully painted like Quietus & they feel just a little bit less solid...now I haven't touched the Thomas KO but I can say I'm not selling Quietus unless I see these figures holding up 5 or more years from now & at that point, I don't see it hurting FT...the KOs are good but as a KO buyer I can tell u I'm still buying FT when it comes to the figures of theirs I want because I do buy other companies as well...great video & points Mr. Mike!!!!!!

@@tydiriumhanger1320 yes I agree on the price point issue...I saw your review of the 1st Hurricane KO but I'm not sure if u noticed the bare pink plastic for the thighs & arms vs painted parts on the FT Quietus figure...I think those areas may yellow or change as those colored plastics seem to do on the Hasbro mainline figures...now if that happens, collectors who buy FT product may stray away from using the KOs as their shelf representations...if the plastic holds up, FT has a HUGE problem going forward because of their pricing as u stated...most MP collectors won't display figures if they fade or color change but if we see displays years from now with these KOs holding up, it's either game over for FT pricing or completely because more & more ppl will wait on the KO possibly even if it doesn't get made right away or ever & in either case, FT loses sales...now this could be a good thing for the buyers because it could make FT simply make their figures closer to the other 3rd party companies prices... personally I don't want the FT quality to go away because I love having different companies represented on my shelves as a talking point & overall satisfaction of my collection...I do agree with u in the end Mr. Mike...
My Thomas lost $200 in value when the KO dropped so curious to see what happens to acoustic waves and he only had one cassette and was like $150 for the other two or three
I think there is more going on than just KOs entering the market, in the past month I've been able to score 5 older FTs still factory sealed for a third less than the listed RRP. Maybe Fanstoys are getting ready for the buy now, sell later market when it stabilises next year?
Man I'd love a Spotter reissue/2.0 but I'm not a big fan of KOs, personally. FT makes great stuff. I'd love my cash go to continue supporting that quality. KOs of Takara that fix known serious problems are a different story.
I guess it depends on who you side with. The corporation or the artists/designers. Who was really "Fanstoys" I tend to think the designers. They may not own the name, but they put in the passion. Kind of like 3P in general right? Idk, I consider it all KO, but If "4th" party puts money in the designers pockets I'm in. Not that I needed another reason to pick up that Cyclonus KO lol.
Love that they are reissuing Sovereign M. I'm so on that. But there serious causes for concern about future quality and selection of characters from Fanstoys if this goes on. It"s easy to say 'fuck em" for guys who only care about the first two season characters. But I want Autobot Headmasters from Fanstoys. I want Targetmasters from Fanstoys. This is not like Hasbro who have been raising prices and only releasing late G1 characters one a year or close to it and then going "He's too obscure so he can't have a voyager class release." Fuck those assholes. I hope everything they release goes straight to clearance. Fanstoys is not Hasbro. Their prices might have been absurdly high, but they didn't cut cost on the quality of the figures or the selection of characters.
Yes I also want to see future figures and there is rumor that they have designs for every released g1 character granted many are still in the early design stages.
It was hard to have sympathy for Fanstoys before I found out they were cheating their designers. No 3P has a legitimate complaint in being KOed to me. They are all KOs in my mind I don't differentiate degrees of theft as it applies to toys. Nobody stealing bread here lol. I'm still planning on picking up the KO Cyclonus, but I've no interest in that Soundwave at any price. Way too toon and I'm good with official version. Happy to see anyone get these figures who wants them. Only other FT KOs I'd go in for are Galvatron and Motormaster.

Eu queria muito o Soundwave da Fantoys, mas dar mais de R$ 1200,00 em um único Transformer, quando com este valor posso dar em 3, não faria mesmo. I wouldn't mind fantoys ko..sometimes there transformation is difficult and the ko might make them easier..but i will still buy the original..fantoys are expensive but always great quality..there are some i miss out like the incepticons..but my favorite is kup..i still thill there kup is way better then x-transbot one..cant wait till cliffjumper and bumblebee comes out
Unfortunately, for 3rd party TFs to exist at all, you basically have to whitelist everything there. Including 4th party and KOs. If they're doing HasTak designs, whether they're FT or TFC or whatever, then they're stealing. Now the thieves are trying to eat each other. And I love 3rd party, my Legends collection is gorgeous thanks to it, but I won't be naive about how these companies work.
They taking only the great move decepticons and knockng them off. Despote of having all Fanstoys and xtransbots, i chose for my decepticons movie collection Fanstoys ko's. for Optimus and Megatron Takara ko's and for movie autobots ko takara and xtransbots....i think x-transbots make great good guys and fanstoys great bad guys including (Jetfire). For filling my holes i got the takara ko's simular by newage( badguys including jetfire) mft/ko (goodguys) and jinbao closing my gaps....
Unfortunately FT needs to understand they are a knockoff transformers company. They should be glad Hasbro or Takara isn't shutting them down. So they should be grateful that they are still in existence to be able to make anything.

Since imo the people who bought the KO'S already had the original, but couldn't pass it up due to the price! And the people who bought the KO'S only, would have Never bought the Original FT since the price might of been too high! Yes! I agree! The KO'S are diluting the market, bringing down the value! But imo that's a good thing! That way everyone could get one at a reasonable price! I hated that False Scarsity thing! Making Pre-order, than charging them a late tax! They were the only company doing that! By the way.
As good as this may be for buyers, it could put a huge dent in the FT secondary market for sellers. If I were to ever get out of MP collecting, specifically third party, I was hoping that FT would keep their value. Now...who knows?
Yes it will like all KOs but then the kos sell out and the hype dies down after a few years and the price stabilizes at a lower but average rate

How can Fanstoys complete the set without its design team. Hard to find new workers when you've got a history of not paying people. I'd say the War is already won. I do hope they release the last bot and Menasor though. I'm not in on the FT set, but I'd hate to see collectors that are get skrewed.

I'm not so sure these KOs can really hurt FT in the long run with collectors & here's why...I have the FT Quietus & both KO Hurricane figures because I wanted to see how good they were & should I sell my Quietus...they are good, but in the long run they may yellow and/or break because they're not fully painted like Quietus & they feel just a little bit less solid...now I haven't touched the Thomas KO but I can say I'm not selling Quietus unless I see these figures holding up 5 or more years from now & at that point, I don't see it hurting FT...the KOs are good but as a KO buyer I can tell u I'm still buying FT when it comes to the figures of theirs I want because I do buy other companies as well...great video & points Mr. Mike!!!!!!
I think what will hurt is losing the design team. Sounds like all the talent up and left. Now it's just the corporate vampires. If we start seeing Constructor levels of reissues I'd say it's all over. Nobody wants to work for a company with a history of not paying employees.
The official will always command higher prices but now Thomas is under $200 vs over $300 for example
@@tydiriumhanger1320 yes I agree on the price point issue...I saw your review of the 1st Hurricane KO but I'm not sure if u noticed the bare pink plastic for the thighs & arms vs painted parts on the FT Quietus figure...I think those areas may yellow or change as those colored plastics seem to do on the Hasbro mainline figures...now if that happens, collectors who buy FT product may stray away from using the KOs as their shelf representations...if the plastic holds up, FT has a HUGE problem going forward because of their pricing as u stated...most MP collectors won't display figures if they fade or color change but if we see displays years from now with these KOs holding up, it's either game over for FT pricing or completely because more & more ppl will wait on the KO possibly even if it doesn't get made right away or ever & in either case, FT loses sales...now this could be a good thing for the buyers because it could make FT simply make their figures closer to the other 3rd party companies prices... personally I don't want the FT quality to go away because I love having different companies represented on my shelves as a talking point & overall satisfaction of my collection...I do agree with u in the end Mr. Mike...
Agreed! I was curious about the KO Astrotrain and sure enough the head sheared right off.
My Thomas lost $200 in value when the KO dropped so curious to see what happens to acoustic waves and he only had one cassette and was like $150 for the other two or three

I think there is more going on than just KOs entering the market, in the past month I've been able to score 5 older FTs still factory sealed for a third less than the listed RRP. Maybe Fanstoys are getting ready for the buy now, sell later market when it stabilises next year?
There might be but many speculators that see this and anticipate the next moves just want to unload
Man I'd love a Spotter reissue/2.0 but I'm not a big fan of KOs, personally. FT makes great stuff. I'd love my cash go to continue supporting that quality. KOs of Takara that fix known serious problems are a different story.
I guess it depends on who you side with. The corporation or the artists/designers. Who was really "Fanstoys" I tend to think the designers. They may not own the name, but they put in the passion. Kind of like 3P in general right? Idk, I consider it all KO, but If "4th" party puts money in the designers pockets I'm in. Not that I needed another reason to pick up that Cyclonus KO lol.

It"s easy to say 'fuck em" for guys who only care about the first two season characters. But I want Autobot Headmasters from Fanstoys. I want Targetmasters from Fanstoys.
This is not like Hasbro who have been raising prices and only releasing late G1 characters one a year or close to it and then going "He's too obscure so he can't have a voyager class release."

Fanstoys is not Hasbro. Their prices might have been absurdly high, but they didn't cut cost on the quality of the figures or the selection of characters.

Yes I also want to see future figures and there is rumor that they have designs for every released g1 character granted many are still in the early design stages.
It was hard to have sympathy for Fanstoys before I found out they were cheating their designers. No 3P has a legitimate complaint in being KOed to me. They are all KOs in my mind I don't differentiate degrees of theft as it applies to toys.
Nobody stealing bread here lol. I'm still planning on picking up the KO Cyclonus, but I've no interest in that Soundwave at any price. Way too toon and I'm good with official version. Happy to see anyone get these figures who wants them. Only other FT KOs I'd go in for are Galvatron and Motormaster.
True they operate in that gray territory and this was bound to happen. Many collectors passed on Acoustic wave due to price now they can give it a shot

Estou dando graças a Deus por estas empresas terceiras estarem entrando em ação, pois assim consigo ter meus Transformers. Eu queria muito o Soundwave da Fantoys, mas dar mais de R$ 1200,00 em um único Transformer, quando com este valor posso dar em 3, não faria mesmo.
Então, podem vir com força, eu aprovo e viva os KOs, que muitas vezes melhoram aspectos no original. Pena quando cagam a parada. kkkkkkk
I wouldn't mind fantoys ko..sometimes there transformation is difficult and the ko might make them easier..but i will still buy the original..fantoys are expensive but always great quality..there are some i miss out like the incepticons..but my favorite is kup..i still thill there kup is way better then x-transbot one..cant wait till cliffjumper and bumblebee comes out
It would also be better to transform a KO because you will fell less stressed about breakage
If I didn't have the x-transbots cyclonus and the dx9 astrotrain I would have gotten the KO's now I don't have weirdwolf yet

Unfortunately, for 3rd party TFs to exist at all, you basically have to whitelist everything there. Including 4th party and KOs. If they're doing HasTak designs, whether they're FT or TFC or whatever, then they're stealing. Now the thieves are trying to eat each other. And I love 3rd party, my Legends collection is gorgeous thanks to it, but I won't be naive about how these companies work.

Despote of having all Fanstoys and xtransbots, i chose for my decepticons movie collection Fanstoys ko's. for Optimus and Megatron Takara ko's and for movie autobots ko takara and xtransbots....i think x-transbots make great good guys and fanstoys great bad guys including (Jetfire). For filling my holes i got the takara ko's simular by newage( badguys including jetfire) mft/ko (goodguys) and jinbao closing my gaps....
Good point they are doing decepticons and maybe Skyfire but those were all commanding high prices

Unfortunately FT needs to understand they are a knockoff transformers company. They should be glad Hasbro or Takara isn't shutting them down. So they should be grateful that they are still in existence to be able to make anything.
