    Disney Paris is the one park when I can go ride no rides and still have a great time. I haven’t been to Disney sea but that’s the main reason I want to go there

    • @IndependentGuides
      @IndependentGuides  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Disneysea is really good for the transportation rides like the ferries and gondolas and the electric railway and these usually have short waits (except the gondolas) - I king of think of those as not 'real rides' but more a way of relaxing and getting around like the railroad at the Disneyland Parks.

    Great list, with some really thoughtful reasons and justifications behind your picks. While I haven't been to every park on the list, I have to agree that Tokyo DisneySea is just the most spectacular place I've been to so far. I felt like I was living this wonderful dream the whole time. The theming, the rides, the Duffy-love, the hospitality... the popcorn! We were there in the middle of January (pre-pandemic) and didn't wait more than 15mins for a ride the whole day. And we went on everything. Pick a quiet weekday and play the fast pass game and you can make it happen!

    When Universal studios Beijing and Epic Universe opens, you should do a rank video on all 7 universal theme parks (8 if you wanna count Volcano Bay) in the future. Btw I liked the video and subscribed! Keep up the good work! :)

      Thanks a really good idea but I feel I’d need to visit Beijing and Singapore first to do a fair comparison. One of the important things about the ranking of the Disney ones is I’ve been to them all so I really get a sense of what each one is like. But love the suggestion and hopefully can get to the last couple of parks soon!

      I have in-laws in Singapore and last November moved from the U.K. to live in the Philippines. So that means outside of the Philippines the closest world famous theme parks are Universal in Singapore and Hong Kong Disneyland. Also if I ever take a trip back to the U.K. I could do both resorts at Disneyland Paris. I would rather go to a park that is not super crowded and the English spoken around the park is pretty good. I know I am a fool and missing out and should go to the 2 Disney parks in Tokyo. But I here they are both very crowded and English is not spoken very well. At the moment I am not going to be going anywhere outside of the Philippines due to covid and travel restrictions. So maybe I might change my mind and go to Disney sea and Tokyo Disneyland. When I was a child I went twice to Disneyland in California abs once to Universal studios in California. I have also been once to Disneyland Paris a long time ago. So my Disneyland memories are a bit hazy. Plus my wife has never been to any Disneyland’s b4.

      I have been to all the Universal parks accept Bejing and I will tell you that Singapore will definitely be at the very bottom of the list. It's the smallest of all Universal parks, it's poorly maintained, poorly managed, and the weather is hot as hell. It's just like a Six Flags park with Universal IPs.

  • @MrKidroboto

    Great video. I had a tough time with my own list. The nostalgia factor weighed heavily in my ranking but I have to agree. After visiting Disneyland recently it has fallen from my #1 spot. It has definitely has lost some of its magic. Star Wars is great and all but it definitely feels like you are in another land but it feels like you're walking through a market place without ever seeing the rest of the area. It is like a big tease.
    I absolutely love taking friends and family to Tokyo Disney Sea, especially if they have never been there. My last visit I took some friends who have never been to a theme park before and it was amazing to see them all bright-eyed busy bushy-tailed. I was a bit jealous that their first experience with Theme parks was at the Tokyo Disney parks and then Universal Studios Japan.

    This has really helped in my next choice of visiting Disney with my Grand kids. We did Disney Paris last year and you are correct even 3 years later. Customer service very bad, No tea coffe kettle or even a fridge in the rooms. Was impossible to even buy T bags or Coffee.I had to buy tea and coffee but ask them not to make it up! how wierd is that. The hotel staff could get international telephone to work in our rooms and also couldn't get through to the Quatar airline to confirm our flight home. How ever park and attrations are excellant. Food over priced and expensive. As a French family living in Australia this was embarassing . Food just 30 mins away in Paris is amazing. Once in the Park it is just mush tasteless and as we were staying a week very un healthy. OK if only staying 1 or 2 days.
    Your judgement is top on. Thank you once again

    I think you did a really great list. Although I would have these ranked differently, I have to say this. Out of all of these parks, NOTHING is better than the Walt Disney World Resort. What people don’t understand is that the reason Disney Word’s “themeing” and rides in one park aren’t “up to par” is because they have SO much more land and more than double the theme parks alone than any of Disney Resort. So they have to space out the rides and areas to each location to fill them out. Like the new Star Wars themed location is in Disneyland but in Disney World it’s in Hollywood Studios. They have SO MUCH more space to fill. And I think they do an AMAZING job with every park. And Animal Kingdom is AMAZING and although not my favorite park does themeing better than any park in the world. It really is fantastic and the new Pandora themed area! Amazing. The heavily themed Star Wars & Pandora areas are literally the best at Disney World in the sense they transport you to another world. Only the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Orlando is on par with them. Fantastic video tho and I love being able to talk about Disney/Universal stuff with other fans as I do believe nobody does theme parks like Disney & Universal!

    • @IndependentGuides
      @IndependentGuides  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes NOTHING can ever match the scale bad immersion of Walt Disney world. The company could never justify building anything like that again and it wouldn’t be done today but all that cheap land has allowed them to do things we could only dream of!
      the two are definitely the industry leaders but there are some great amazing parks like efleting, Alton towers and phantasialand out there too!

    • @jamesklaus2260
      @jamesklaus2260 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Independent Guides - Disney and Universal Videos right. They just do immersion and rides at the next level that I have never experienced outside their parks. I’ve been to many amusement parks before like Six Flags or Hersheypark and even though places like Hershey park and do a very minor resort like universal or Disney feel it is nowhere near the level of detail and immersion that Disney World and Universal Studios do. Sadly I’ve never been to other places outside the country and the ones in the country that I have been to or not as incredible of an experience. I have to say your 100% about not doing that today. Now it’s all about money so they would never have bought and cultivated the land that became Walt Disney World Resort. But thankfully back then it was bigger is better and we got such amazing parks. I hope now that Universal is making Epic Universe, Disney will compete with a new park.

    I probably agree with the ranking. But I don't think you give Disneyland (CA) enough credit. The sheer amount of attractions (and really good ones at that) is astounding, specially compared to MK. There is little that MK has that DL doesn't... but there's LOTS DL has that MK doesn't (mr.toad, Alice, Pinocchio, Roger Rabbit, to name a few). I think the Barnstormer is basically an equivalent to the Gadget coaster at Disneyland. And the Ariel ride is at DCA... so not really a loss there.

I forgot how great a ride Big Thunder Mountain was. Another favorite is Matterhorn with 2 different ride experiences. Disneyland used to have a People Mover which I really liked but is no longer there. The cast members were outstanding. Hello,
    So if I want to avoid the crowds and I am not fussed if I do not go to the best Disneyland am I best to go to Hong Kong Disneyland and Paris Disneyland? Also I am a 45 year old English man married to a Filipina and live in the Philippines. So that means Hong Kong is the closest to us. Also we might at some point take a trip back to the U.K. to visit family and friends so I could pop over to Paris Disneyland. I have been to the Paris Disneyland in the mid 90’s when I was 21 and I went to the original Disneyland when I was 7 and 12. But my memories are a bit sketchy. I just want to get a little bit of Disneyland magic.

    • @IndependentGuides
      @IndependentGuides  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that’s right. I’d go to HKDL first then. It’s a great starter park and much less busy than the others. Then Disneyland Paris, which has great rides - but during off-season as it does get very busy during the peak periods. Hope you get to do them both some day!

      @@IndependentGuides Well it was such a long time ago that I went to Disneyland Paris and the only time I could go was in August and that was a bit of a mistake going at that time but still enjoy it a lot. I believe November is a good time to go to HK Disneyland. If I am right there is no pirates of the Caribbean ride at HK Disneyland and no Star tours. But there is some Star Wars attractions. I was thinking 2 days would be a good length of time so we do not rush it. Is it cheaper to stay in a hotel near to Hong Kong Disneyland or can you get good deals to stay at one of the Disneyland Hotels?

    • @IndependentGuides
      @IndependentGuides  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s right November should be quiet! For HK hotels yeah there are only 3 on site options so you definitely have a lot more choice in the city but on-site is very convenient. 2 days would be plenty.

    My favorite park is the California one because I just looove the sleeping beauty castle. I grew up watching Disney DVDs and they always started the movie with the sleeping beauty castle in the opening credit. I think in early 2010s they changed to the big castle with the river that looks more like the magic kingdom castle. I also like Hong Kong Disneyland a lot because it resembles the California one. Everything is smaller and closer to each other but it feels more homely, which is a contrast to Shanghai. I hope Hong Kong will get more love and more attentions after frozen land opens 😭 I love Tokyo Disneyland but they just don’t have good shoes or fireworks show which is a shame because magic kingdom’s fireworks show is always amazing

    ""You shouldn't have an area with a seaside theme in your park when the beach is down the road"".
    You are contradicting yourself. Tokyo Disneysea is literally right next to the ocean yet the entire park has a Seaside theme.
    Also you criticize some parks for not having enough original attractions, but yet you criticize Shanghai Disneyland for not having enough nostalgia or classic attractions because most of the attractions there are original. So which one do you want? Original rides or Classic nostalgic rides?

    • @IndependentGuides
      @IndependentGuides  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s not the theme I criticise but more that fairgrounds exist nearby like Santa Cruz Boardwalk where you can ride Ferris wheels And basic flat rides. You can do that at any seaside funfair.
      Whereas at Disneysea, you can’t journey into a volcano nearby in Tokyo Bay, you can’t see a Mediterranean harbour nearby, you can’t explore like indiana Jones. The park brings new experiences to the bay.
      For your last point, for me, ideally a park has a mix of new originals and classics. Not too much to make it feel unfamiliar but not just clones of other parks. It’s a tough balancing act.

      Is Zootopia meant to come to HKDL? I thought it was a Shanghai exclusive for now. The best reason to go to be honest, is to experience a non-crowded Disney park. It's a great one for first-timers who might feel overwhelmed in other parks.

    Great Video!
    My take:
    Putting Magic Kingdom above Tokyo Disneyland is objectively false😅. The only attractions I can think of that Tokyo doesn't have are the peoplemover, autopia and carrousel of progress, but there are actually many attractions that MK is missing or that are inferior. Every other category is better at Tokyo Disneyland (besides fireworks) and I strongly disagree that it's dated, or if it is, it's in a nostalgic/good way...They still have the original Magic Kingdom Haunted Mansion, which is better than the current one at MK, and they also have the old Tomorrowland which I prefer. Their Fantasyland is a little weak, but their Critter Country is insanely good. I also think Monster's Inc Ride and Go Seek is way beyond "fine."
    I think putting Shanghai at 7 when it has almost no good attractions is a bit crazy...you noted that you placed it relatively high for its strong attractions, but I disagree. As you said, their version of Peter Pan is noticeably better, and their Buzz is great, but they're also missing many fantasyland rides. I think it's an indicator of quality when they chose to install the non-iconic 90s Pooh ride when theres a far superior version in Tokyo they shoud've done. I also strongly prefer the original style Pirates ...The climbing challenge, river rapid ride, and castle boat ride are alright...but like you said it's missing SO many iconic attractions for no reason. The excuse is that it's distinctly Chinese, but I don't think it feels Chinese either, it's just missing things. Tron is overrated just like Pirates, and thier Tomorrowland feels like a bland empty mall.
    My List
    1. Disneyland (attractions/show lineup is beyond unrivaled [dark rides! History!] Great seasonal overlays & New Orleans Square)
    2. TDL (much better attraction lineup than Sea, despite Seas amazing theming...this could change soon..)
    3. DisneySea (simply amazing)
    4. DLP (as you said, the best executed castle park, so much detail! Just missing some things.)
    5. MK (very few negative aspects, just not quite as standout as the ones above)
    6. DAK (fantastic theming and great distinct attractions...still light on rides [6-10 are very close for me, alsmot a tie])
    7. Epcot (world showcase is fantastic, as you said. Future World is changing, but many rides have been lost/downgraded)
    8. DCA (some areas w relatively weak theming, the two best being Grizzly Peak and Cars Land, but these days great lineup & food)
    9. Hollywood Studios (huge mistake removing TGMR and Backlot tour...similar to future world -kind of a shell of its old self)
    10. HKDL (I find this park to be nearly as charming as the orignal. The 2 distinct attractions, J Cruise/Adventurland are 10/10)
    11. Shanghai (lacking the magic in a way that seems nearly unfixable. The guests are unfortunately quite rude.)
    12. WDS Paris (This park actually almost beats Shanghai for me. Tower is great, Rockin & Crush's Coasters, MM show)
    PS: Barnstormer is in fact at Disneyland...

    Just a quick comment about the Disneyland Castle, while I do think that the castle is kind of the main attraction of the park and it should look grandiose, I really didn’t like the idea of Hong Kong Disneyland “improving the castle” by tearing down the original Sleeping Beauty Castle and replaced it with a taller castle that “all the princesses lived in”.
    To me that just sounded lazy and it really doesn’t tell a story. It takes away the fairytale attached to the landmark and the castle just doesn’t feel “Disney”. It just feel like any place. You dont look up the castle and wonder what sleeping beauty is doing inside, or how Philip slayed maleficent over on that tower. Instead all the princesses are just there… hanging out?
    It’s just like saying that the Snow White wishing well is now everyone princess’s wishing well, or like the Tarzan tree house now also co-inhabit mowgi and simba’s pride, or like the space mountain is now the ship that takes all the Star Wars and marvel characters out to space missions. It just feel mashed up and lazy.

    This is my list, I've also been to every Disney Theme Park:
    1. Tokyo Disneysea
    2. Disneyland in California
    3. Tokyo Disneyland
    4. Shanghai Disneyland
    5. Disneyland Paris
    6. Disney California Adventure
    7. Animal Kingdom
    8. Hong Kong Disneyland
    9. Magic Kingdom
    10. Epcot
    11. Disney Hollywood Studios
    12. Walt Disney Studios Paris
    Animal Kingdom is a beautiful park themeing wise however the rides are short and lackluster for the most part. I liked how HKDL was not crowded at all which meant the Cast Members could provide better individual service. Magic Kingdom is always ranked high on most people's lists but I find it to be too crowded, too stressful, with mediocre food & guest service, the park and rides tend to be very outdated and there's not enough rides to handle the crowds that park gets compared to a smaller park like Disneyland in CA which has a lot more rides crammed into it comapred to the Magic Kingdom.

      @@IndependentGuides DLP is several steps above Magic Kingdom. For example, Space Mt., Phantom Manor, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates, Autopia, & Small World are miles ahead at DLP verses their versions at MK. I would have to say that although I enjoyed the theming and amazing rides at Shanghai DL, I'd rank it below Hong Kong DL for overall experience. The culture of the guests (pushing, line jumping, lack of personal space), and the non-western food options really turned me off at Shanghai. I was looking for someone to point out the political aspect of the american parks. I wish that they could implement some sort of policy that restricts any sort of politics from the experience. Disney is about having an escape from the real world and constantly being reminded of real world current politics sort of ruins the experience. The crowds also aren't fun to be in. I only went to disneyland once and never again. I got claustrophobia and had a hard time breathing because of the lack of space midday (the walkways are much smaller than those in tokyo which I'm used to). Although the american parks are the og, I just can't enjoy them after being used to tokyo (huge walkways and guests are much nicer). Hong kong and paris were also nice. I would love to visit the Disneyland in California and also Tokyo Disney, and Disney Sea, well probably one of these days after this video.
    Their will say if Disney opens a park in a South Korea then it will become a Rollercoaster nut’s paradise that it will outnumbered the rollercoasters the Magic Mountain with rollercoasters and best Cedar Park, it will have even a Pirates of The Caribbean rollercoaster and rollercoasters with Marvel characters, that probably might put Disney Sea into number 2 or with the Laincourt situation at the South Korea Pavilion at Epcot and the Japan Pavilion being axed then the two Disney Parks in Japan will be acquired by Warner Bros and it will replace Mickey Mouse and all of the Disney characters with Bugs Bunny and all the Looney Tunes in Japan and the name will change to Warner Bros Universe in Japan.

    This list WAS honestly spot on until Number 1. I realllly don’t understand how Tokyo DisneySea is alot of peoples favorite. Went there this past January for 3 days. Doesn’t even break my too 4-5, it is small, oddly designed, food was good but not special just done really well, the night life is a fail, the crowds were unbelievable, the rides were just downright meh except League, not alot of enjoyable rides when considering the whole campus, the shows are good but feel a bit ODD if you are used to the American parks, all the comedy is geared tour Japan so it doesn’t hit. Also a bit bias but it is hard to enjoy certain things in Japanese unless you speak it, airplanes buzzing by all day from BOtH tokyo airports, loud city noises, something World and Land got rid of, and lastly they don’t have the smell technology tuned to Americans it is very much tuned to Japanese. So for the westerners watching be warned of these lists. Japan is my favorite country ti visit too.
