China - Nanpiao - Diesels and a SY, 2004

Early BJ (Bei JIng) class diesels were acquired to replace the fleet of SY 2-8-2s. However, they proved unreliable and it was some years before they were able to take over much of the work. Here we see BJ3241 on a local passenger service and another, unidentified, BJ sits idle whilst an SY takes a train to the soil tip. Considerably more modern, DF4-5045 arrives in Nanpiao with a CNR service from JinZhou. Filmed in summer 2004.
