1:32 something about this image really stood out to me. As a relatively new 40k liker, I think this the first time I've seen an Astartes actually get hurt. They're so heavily armoured it was hard to even picture what damage to them would look like. The holes in the armour are huge, only the most savage of weapons could even dent this...to blow large holes in it though.. Also, I normally see them with a composed expression, either totally blank or giving a sense of satisfaction. This guy though is lacerated and looks exhausted from probably days of constant battle. Thanks for including this in the vid
It's certainly a very good piece of art, as done by Miguel Iglesias if you'd like to see some more of his work. Had no idea the helmets were inspired from war dogs/mastiffs. I honestly don't see it, but nevertheless, a fun fact. The coolest looking terminator armor helmets I've ever seen are from Iron Within and the helmets having the tusks. Awesome job on this video!
Indomitus pattern helmets make me think more of bulls or bears with that wide, heavy snout. My favorite pattern. The big rebreather makes me think of a roided up Star Wars stormtrooper.
Grey Knights have the Aegis Pattern which is specialized for close combat, allowing for greater range of motion and flexibility. It’s tough as shit, make no mistake.
@@jeambeam3173 ive seen both videos now, and from what ive seen, terminator armor is more suited for genestealer hords, and grey knights are specialized against chaos
Love how pre imperial era of the dark age. A simple terminator suit was no more then a mining suit to humanity. Telling the sheer power of ancient human tech. They had ships that could shoot drones out and kill every ork, then use pesticide that would get rid of orks off their worlds. They were so powerful the eldar and orks openly traded and talked peace treaties with old humanity when they were enlightened and open to exploration and trade with alien species. Now, humanity is just dangerous
@@UCannotDefeatMyShmeat other then being limitely talked about in novels not about it there isnt much other then just the info of what it was in terms of Human Dark Age and earlier stuff like War in Heaven
@@gardenthefermentingsound6218I mean it's not. The imperium in 40k used a modified life eater virus. This version of the virus killed all ork fungus aside from the nobz themselves. Which could be taken care of by robots and drones. So it's safe to assume golden age humans had the tech to do this far more efficiently. Also it was a stupid bit of writing but yes dark age humans did manage to negotiate peace with orks. While also trading with and talking with Eldar. Though the Eldar still despised humanity. A dark age human ship was able to destroy an entire imperium fleet by itself. Then the same ship hacked the mechanicus and space marine power armor with ease. Proceeding to look down on "modern" humanity as nothing more than barbarians.
Terminator armor is the coolest piece of wargear in all of 40K to me. The highest level of personal protection you could possibly get in the Imperium of Man. Highest quality sensors and targeting systems you can pack into a suit of power armor. One-hands weapon you’d usually find as cupola mounts or coaxial secondary weapons on an armored vehicle. Slower, but hits like a freight train in melee combat. Such advanced communications systems that it basically acts like its own C.I.C. Field tested and improved upon by my favorite legion, the Iron Hands, eventually resulting in the horrifying Gorgon Pattern, a hybridization of Cataphractii, and the earliest variants of Indomitus pattern. It’s always such a “OH SHIT, WE’RE COOKED,” moment whenever hostile terminators show up to fight the main character. Excels in boarding actions, void engagements, trench lines, urban warfare, shrugs off explosives and mines like they’re nothing. And there’s the intimidation factor as well. Even a veteran Astartes is given pause by the sight of a 8.5/9foot tall, lumbering, armored monster laying about itself with storm bolter and powerfist, shrugging off anything that can be thrown at it. Sensors so good you can’t hide from it. Targeting systems so precise you can’t dodge it. Motive systems so powerful you can’t overpower it. So heavy on the firepower you can’t outshoot it. So tough you’d be hard pressed to pierce it. In the words of Kyle Reese: “It cant be bargained with, it cant be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear, and it ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT STOP, until you are DEAD.”
You forgot to mention, it is possible to roll double ones, 1 for armour, 1 for invun, for 4 out of a five man squad of Terminators. Leaving a very happy 10 man Grot unit.
That was my first Warhammer video game. Then I found out about the Gorgon Pattern suits of the Iron Hands. Think Indomitus pattern, but it possesses a conversion field generator that transforms incoming fire, kinetic, directed energy or otherwise, into flashes of blinding light. Shooting at a Gorgon Terminator is basically the same as flashbanging yourself.
@venerablebrothergoriate5844 my first warhammer game, was an old world game called battlemarch, which may also have been known as Mark of chaos. I played as the greenskins, which made them my number one fan favorite in all the settings as well as the other factions I'm a fan of.
Then after the veterans you got the chapter master of the space sharks Tyberos who wields specially made terminator armour augmented with dreadnaught armour plating and his twin power fists with built in storm bolsters lightning claw chain fist combo slack and hunger

I heard / read somewhere that one of the (many) reasons Terminator armour didn't take over was that it wasn't actually that good against normal Space Marines. So when fighting the traitor legions they were better off not deploying Terminators. Is that correct or am I imagining it?
It's interesting how everything is designed, with one flaw of logistic, like storm boler with high rate of fire, with magazine sticking out showing merely few rounds, and no mention of how and from where the Tactical Terminator would do an tactical reload.
