  • Have you ever got dressed and wondered why your outfit doesn't suit you? You love the clothes but something just isn't right. It could be the colour that doesn't suit you. I visited Kettlewell Colours to have my own colours analysed and to meet the founders Melissa and John Nicholson. More details below!
    It was after having her own colours analysed that Melissa realised how hard it was to find colourful clothes on the high street. A move to the country prompted her to create Kettlewell Colours. More than ten years later the company now offer 150 different colours across and exciting range of seperates that will enhance and bring your wardrobe to life.
    Have you had your colours analysed, did you find it helpful in making good colour choices?

    The bright colours in the second half of the film look fantastic on the darkhaired lady.

    I had my colours done almost 2 years ago - I'm a deep autumn - and I've never looked back. Shopping is so much easier now. I have lots of Kettlewell tops - they wash really well. I just wish they did more skirts.

    House of Colour colour analysts really transform women. I never knew what colour to wear but one of the other things they do is style so one knows whether to wear natural clothing or, in my case, dramatic -- not easy in one's seventies! House of Colour introduced me to Kettlewell and they do an excellent job. I'm looking forward to their expansion! :)

      Hi Ann Doesn't it make it easier to shop when you know what colours and style really suit you. I'm very impressed with the quality of the clothes from Kettlewell and also look forward to seeing what they bring out when they move into new premises. Thank you for taking the time to let me know about your experience. Tracey x

      I think she meant to have a neutral with this yellow necklace to bring it up so that she doesn't take thr focus of the model lady

      Caroline Y that color is contextual... if you want to mute yourself,be comfortable and not get much attention in a situation.... it is good color. For her, she probably doesn’t want to steal spotlight from the customers.... so nothing wrong

    I want to start dressing using my colours. I am collecting items for my wardrobe now. I have been shopping online at LTS a lot and on Ebay. Kettlewell would be so great to use (the site is great with all the seasons organised by colour) BUT they don't do anything for taller women. :(

    Love your channel but why is it called "fighting fifty"? Why not call it embracing fifty or loving fifty? lol

    • @FightingFifty
      @FightingFifty  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Susan Marie The site is called Fighting Fifty as in Fighting Fit, it's a positive not a negative. I created Fighting Fifty to challenge the perceptions of ageing and the negativity towards older women in the UK at the time. I am pleased to say that things have changed over the past 5 years. I didn't feel that Embracing Fifty or Loving Fifty was the right name to be challenging these perceptions. I am so pleased that you enjoy the channel and thank you for taking the time to comment. Tracey

    All the photos i find are modelled by white women, would be good to have a range of skin tones. Another thing is that the range seems a little dated , anything for a younger woman?

      Hi Kat, you make a really good point and one that I am passing on to Kettlewell. I have also taken on your point about clothes for younger women and this year we will be exploring some different ranges more suitable for younger women. Thank you for leaving a comment and opening up this conversation. Tracey

    Tracey! Kind of random: Ever thought about going grey? I am transitioning. Love your channel. -- Christina

    • @FightingFifty
      @FightingFifty  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Christina Thank you for your kind words! I have given lots of thought to going grey but haven't had the courage to do it yet. It's the transition that concerns me. I am planning to go lighter but my daughter has asked me not to do it until after her wedding next year. How are you finding the transition, is it easier than you thought? Tracey x

    • @cs.0903
      @cs.0903 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tracey, I can totally see why you haven't had the courage. It's not easy when you have long hair! My hair has been short for the past few years, so it's not that hard for me, I guess. I had lots of silvery/blonde highlights put into my hair and it looks a little weird, but better - in my opinion anyway - than a harsh demarcation line. You would probably have to get them cut to shoulder length, lob style, and it would still take two years or so realistically. I cannot really see you with short hair. You look absolutely lovely with longer hair! It's great that women of our generation talk about these things. Your channel is so encouraging. Best wishes!

    • @FightingFifty
      @FightingFifty  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's such a big step isn't it! I think it is a little easier if your hair is short and fair. I will definitely try going a bit lighter and see how that looks. This week I was waiting to pay in a shop and there were two women ahead of me. One had blonde hair the other grey. The shop assistant asked the blonde woman if she was having a nice day shopping with her mother. The woman replied that she was with her sister. It was obvious that the assistant had assumed it was mother and daughter because of the hair colouring and not by looking at them closely. Our next job will be challenging the perceptions of grey as well as ageing. Grey is definitely a colour choice and many young women are embracing it but people still make quick assumptions. I do think this will change as there are more grey haired people than ever before! Tracey x

      @@FightingFifty Thank you for this video, I'm booking my House of Colour appointment soon. I'm currently transitioning to grey and wanted to offer a suggestion to those who might want to. I used semi-permanent hair color for 6 months prior to transitioning and then just stopped coloring. The transition period was effortless with no hard lines. :-)

      You can definitely buy clothes from Kettlewell Colours and have them shipped to the US but it might work out quite expensive. I am sure there are many Colour Consultants there as well, here is a link to House of Colour in the USA www.knowyourwowcolors.com/

      They do. The beige, or dull green might look good on a redhead. The background also makes the color on the expert look washed out. No contrast especially with her pale skin.
