Festival Music - Eric Ball /The Band of Yorkshire Imperial Metals I. Overture II. Romance III. Impromptu (Testpiece British Open Championship at Belle Vue, 1971)
I love this piece,it was once a test piece for the Scottish championships. The contest was won by the band whos'e soprano hit the high note near the end most sweetly. Most sopranos cracked it.Thank you for making this track available.
Eric Walter John Ball (Kingswood, Bristol, geboren, 31.10.1903 - Dorset, overleden, 01.10.1989). one of the finest Brassband composers of all times! ♫♪ ☺ ♥ ♫♪
Played this with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain under the baton of Eric Ball himself! (Can't remember if it was the 1969 summer course or the 1972 Easter course) - anyhow a wonderful experience!

My father conducted Fairey Aviation to win the National finals at the Royal Albert Hall in 1956.. A lovely descriptive test piece.
Love this piece and Imps nailed it
I was a B flat cornet player but knew that the soprano player could make or break a band.In this piece the soprano made the band!

ah, happy memories... thanks for re-kindling - a tonic after Harmony Music (though I'll probably be shot for saying that. lol)
@MrPatODonnell Yes, the soprano passage at the end seems to be so easy, but in fact, it;'s very tricky indeed.
