Ok I love the art style too, but, the plot. I’m honestly kind of on Jackson’s side. He went through a lot to try to raise that money for his mom, and as much as it hurt him to do that to Summer, he knew he just had to make the sacrifice, and he was also working just as hard for that money. And considering how many jobs he was working, it just started to drive him mad, but it wasn’t really his fault. He was just hurt to see his girlfriend being taken away by Aidan because of smth that *he* did. Also, there isn’t really any reasonable excuse to forget ur gf’s birthday but he was under *a lot* of stress

i feel really bad for jackson. he was really stressed because it was his literal mom, and besides summer, she was all he had in life. when she was hospitalized he panicked and went to any length to try and save her. once she agreed he started too feel jealous (understandable) while she was doing the job. summers perspective makes it seems like all he wants is money, which is true in a way, but its to save the life of his mom. imagine the guilt and heartbreak he'd feel if he hadn't raised the money and she ended up dying. not to mention, he still has to live. its just him and his mom who can't work due to her hospitilization. he'd also have to pay for many house things that adults would deal with; a lot of pressure for a teenager. then in the end he loses one of the only good things in his life. summer was supposed to be there for him through thick and thin, when he was stressed and overworked, and when he's just joking and laughing with her on the farm. instead of helping him through the time and talking to him nicely, she just ended up arguing and left him while he was at the lowest point in his life. he was angry at the end because he felt betrayed. like he was going through all of those things alone with no one to help him. she was helped by raising a large amount of money yes, but gave no emotional support. he had the weight of himself and another life, his moms at that, on his shoulder. honestly summer seems like a great friend but shes not the best with empathy or emotional support. honestly this story gives me "traitor" by olivia rodrigo vibes- (from jacksons perspective of course)

I really don’t know who’s side to pick in the story. Jackson went through a lot. He was working multiple jobs everyday to look after his sick mother to get money for her treatment and working multiple jobs became too much for him that he was stressed. When his mother was admitted to the hospital it even got worse to the point that it could have driven him mad. He needed money for his mom’s treatment but the plan he came up with was risky. You could tell at first that Summer wasn’t on board with the idea because she knew it would hurt but she decided to help him and things really took a turn. Summer started falling for Aidan and Jackson started getting jealous and he felt summer was being taken away from him but this is where I blame Jackson. The whole plan was his idea. I get he was desperate for money but he was literally selling summer for money and it changed him. He didn’t think about how it would affect summer and all he thought about was getting the money in the end. He was really a jerk in the end. Aidan at first seemed like a spoiled rich guy but he was genuine and kind. Glad he reunited with summer in college and was able to achieve his dream as a musician.

Although most of Jackson's actions were understandable, it also felt like they turned him toxic for the sake of the story, because I feel like if they hadn't done so, they could have very easily made the story in favour of jackson, showing that he is stressed and showing that he knows his mistakes. Aidan still has a bright future ahead of him regardless of his decision with his family. He isn’t torn between losing a beloved partner and having to face his mother on her literal deathbed. Jackson may have made mistakes, but he did what he realistically could in his position and if Summer is refused to accept that, instead chose to go with pretty boy billionaire Aidan instead? Then that speaks volumes about how she’s fallen from the good person she used to be. Also, Aidan punching Jackson out of the blue was uncalled for. Jackson had no intention of hurting Summer, he just wanted to see if she stilled harboured any feelings for him by putting it to the test right there. As a boyfriend, it would be hard to watch this happen to your girlfriend on the sidelines knowing you can do nothing about it, because your mother’s life is at stake. When Summer told Aidan he was a rich entitled brat in comparison to Jackson, she didn’t realise how damn right she was … and now she’s chosen *that* over someone who’s always loved her. She also has some nerve to refer to Jackson as a gold digger when that wasn’t the case, just goes to show how clouded her judgement and perspective has become, after spending so much time in the presence of a rich and carefree guy as Aidan.

He went through a lot to try to raise that money for his mom, and as much as it hurt him to do that to Summer, he knew he just had to make the sacrifice, and he was also working just as hard for that money. With so much stress, work, and studies, in the end, it's understandable to forget your friend's birthday. Nobody's perfect. Unless she could continue work as the friend that she is. Summer was a really bad MC Jackson’s mom was on the verge of DEATH and all she thought about was Jackson “selling” her off to Aiden, and OFC JACKSON WOULD GET JEALOUS BECAUSE SHE IS CLEARLY DEVELOPING FEELING FOR THE GUY HE TOLD HER TO PRETEND DATE. I really don’t know who’s side to pick in the story. Jackson went through a lot. He was working multiple jobs everyday to look after his sick mother to get money for her treatment and working multiple jobs became too much for him that he was stressed. When his mother was admitted to the hospital it even got worse to the point that it could have driven him mad. He needed money for his mom’s treatment but the plan he came up with was risky. You could tell at first that Summer wasn’t on board with the idea because she knew it would hurt but she decided to help him and things really took a turn. Summer started falling for Aidan and Jackson started getting jealous and he felt summer was being taken away from him but this is where I blame Jackson. The whole plan was his idea. I get he was desperate for money but he was literally selling summer for money and it changed him. He didn’t think about how it would affect summer and all he thought about was getting the money in the end. He was really a jerk in the end. Aidan at first seemed like a spoiled rich guy but he was genuine and kind. Glad he reunited with summer in college and was able to achieve his dream as a musician.

I feel like they failed to write a complex character , at first they want us to sympathize him with but now we're supposed to hate him , I mean it works if it was written right , I'm rewatching this just to finally know who's side to pick , but I don't seem to pick anyone, everyone pissed me off
Summer probably the less , she tried to be a good gf and help jackson but he just ditched her which is understandable since he was desperate to save his mom but isn't an excuse, Aiden even tho was under soo much pressure he still made fun of Jackson and bullied him ( I know he didn't mean to )
But he didn’t even privately apologize to him but again I get it , he was afraid of his family
This is imo my least favorite story of msa in this style ( nothing tops the " I married a tree story" 💀 not even a clickbaiting title) , everything feels out of place and I just couldn’t enjoy it

It was clear that Jackson was in a very @busive workplace with a toxic boss that often verbally and physically hurt him. It must've been super hard for him to continue working there and what's worst is to see his girlfriend date the guy who was mistreating him so horribly. Even though it isn't a good excuse to forget his girlfriend's birthday, I feel like Summer was in the wrong for catching feelings for Aiden. Jackson isn't fixated with the money, he has no choice because his mother is literally dying and the story says it like he only cares about the money and not Summer's feelings. Jackson is super stressed and had to carry the responsibility of an adult as a teenager. He has a single mother from what I can assume and he has to pay rent and everything because his mother cannot work. This poor dude's girlfriend just left him at his lowest point of life for the toxic family's son that she agreed to only pretend to date.

Although most of Jackson's actions were understandable, it also felt like they turned him toxic for the sake of the story, because I feel like if they hadn't done so, they could have very easily made the story in favour of jackson, showing that he is stressed and showing that he knows his mistakes. Although really do imagine all that stress on your shoulders. He just wanted his mom back. and to see his gf falling in love with someone else broke his heart beyond repair.

I thought Aidan is gonna give me some second male lead syndrome however he was the MAIN character. And I feel so bad for Jackson. Things just don't go always good in life, his decision is understandable but it's not really a good call and also he made mistakes along the way. I guess feelings do change in time. I'm glad Aidan and Summer starts their slow burn love story for real. I just wish for Jackson to be able to find the happiness in life he also deserve.

I understand why Jackson did that. He was afraid to loose his mom. Honestly it's sad and I feel bad about him. The thought of his mom gone was driving him crazy so he pushed and pushed until he lost it. I hope his mom is doing ok and him too.
Aiden kinda felt forced together with Summer here. I feel sorry for Jackson. He’s essentially torn between losing his childhood friend / girlfriend he’s loved all his life and his mother who is in critical condition in the hospital. Jackson has a spine of steel to endure the position he’s in. In contrast with Aidan, wanting to follow his dream and being pressured by his family isn’t even in the same league. Aidan still has a bright future ahead of him regardless of his decision with his family. He isn’t torn between losing a beloved partner and having to face his mother on her literal deathbed. Jackson may have made mistakes, but he did what he realistically could in his position and if Summer is refused to accept that, instead chose to go with pretty boy billionaire Aidan instead? Then that speaks volumes about how she’s fallen from the good person she used to be. Also, Aidan punching Jackson out of the blue was uncalled for. Jackson had no intention of hurting Summer, he just wanted to see if she stilled harboured any feelings for him by putting it to the test right there. As a boyfriend, it would be hard to watch this happen to your girlfriend on the sidelines knowing you can do nothing about it, because your mother’s life is at stake. When Summer told Aidan he was a rich entitled brat in comparison to Jackson, she didn’t realise how damn right she was … and now she’s chosen *that* over someone who’s always loved her. She also has some nerve to refer to Jackson as a gold digger when that wasn’t the case, just goes to show how clouded her judgement and perspective has become, after spending so much time in the presence of a rich and carefree guy as Aidan.
