    I love that you can dig deep into basically any of the guest appearances in this show and it makes perfect sense why they were used. Dunno if you've watched season 4 but one of the guest appearances in the finale overthrew Katt Williams for my favorite ever. I will surely miss this show.

      @@ComeWatchTV then you probably know which cameo I'm talking about. I love her because, as was pointed out by some channels, she was in some ways the original Darius in _A Different World_ and we now get to see her in, well, a different world so to speak lol

    Seems like Liam was on a guest star kick around this time. His appeareance in derry girls is even more random (and super funny).

    • @elisabethschmerzler963
      @elisabethschmerzler963 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It kind of does have a similar reasoning. Liam grew up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles and Bloody Sunday. His inclusion during the Good Friday Agreement ending emphasizes just how recent all of this was, and how it’s important to fight for peace and better lives

    I really liked this episode and I think you too, for what I could understand from your (very good) video. I wished that this season had more clairvoyant episodes like this. I understand the point of the show, and going against it is pointless; but between episodes that don't seem to mean much (Cancer Attack) or the already very discussed "side-line episodes", the character development hasn't got much exploration in S3. Again, it's not the perfect show if you want that; but even past episodes like FUBU or Teddy Perkins told us something about the characters. Trini 2 De Bone tells us almost nothing besides the message behind the episode. Which, again, it's fine; it's just little compared to what we had in previous seasons.
    Besides that, really good essay about guest stars and what they should mean! Thank you

    • @ComeWatchTV
      @ComeWatchTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Watching season 4 now, I agree. Season 3 did relatively less in service of our characters.

    • @ComeWatchTV

      I don’t see how that relates to the themes of my video…

    • @nicklombroia9980
      @nicklombroia9980 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ComeWatchTV the hawks are great example of the themes portrayed in this video. Trae Young has worked hard to find his identity in his first few seasons, very similar to the themes explored in the episode and the series.Now that he has become a certified super star and top 3 point guard in the league, he needs to take the next step. While the “guest star” metaphor does not work perfectly adding Murray can help Trae take his game up to heights not before seen in the NBA. Also the show is called Atlanta and the Hawks play in Atlanta which is the same city, so the connection should be clear. #hawksforlife #iloveyoutraeyoung

    I really liked this cameo but overall the whole season I found disappointing. In fact the massive irony of the season for me was that while the show is trying to shine a light on people's prejudices and stereotypes, it basically does this with every ethnicity that isn't American. The Triny episode for instance has so many cringy accents, the one with the Nigerian restaurant is the same. The European characters are really two dimensional, incould go on and on..
