The outcome is the outcome, regardless of your intent. Unintended consequences still may occur and using manipulation is nothing more than proactively evading accountability for your role in that outcome should it be damaging or harmful.

@Big Jewish Ideas Respectfully, your 3 year old, who had no concept of what manipulation even was, was not manipulating you... you were manipulating her to get what you ultimately desired... her affection. You taught her a way to achieve something that you told her she could not have... it was you that denied a pure understanding of your desire for the type of affection you gained (her desire was for the tv... not you... you became the means) by manipulating a 3 year old in a way and an area where she lacked any other reference for right/wrong reaction... so you... could steal affection you would not have otherwise been given at such a time. You used your 3 year old for your own unjust gain of her tarnished understanding of achievement rather than simply gifting her your praise and affection for her growth milestones as all parents/adults should. What you did was create a way for advantage through confusion. You manipulated an undeveloped mind to turn her affection for the tv to your own lacking self... rather than just honestly say: "Baby, daddy needs a hug!"
Gee that's really judgmental of you makes me wonder if that would have been your take if the channel name was big Christian ideas. It's pretty clear that you're assigning nefarious intent based on his belief system, when frankly there is little or no indication that his intent is in any way in anyway nefarious
OK, this was incredibly informative but now I'm confused. If this is the full breadth of the 8th commandment then why, in my experience, is manipulation the go-to for Jews for interpersonal relations with non-Jews? Just sharing my honest thought not intending to offend.
