Hi Alvin, what frustrates me the most is that I took the PMI course : Project Management Basics, but it took me a year to get to it after I purchased the course. Once I completed the course and went back to PMI for the CAPM exam, I noticed they were no longer recommending the course for the CAPM exam, there was a different course I should purchase. I have been asking PMI if I can pass the test they had for PMBOK 6th edition, and no-one is getting back to me. It would have been nice if PMI had had some sort of pop-up, advising me the course was no longer pertinent, I would not have wasted my time! Thanks for your advice in these videos, I will try the Udemy course.
I'm so sorry to hear the experience you had with taking PMI's course, it can feel so frustrating after going through a course and then not being able to use it for the actual exam. I encourage you to use my study plan, combine that with Pocket Prep and Prepcast as I recommend in the video, and you'll be on the right path to success! Just keep in mind that the Prepcast Simulator will have challenging questions, but they will really put you in the mindset of thinking how to answer tough questions on the day of your exam.

Since you already have the PMP Certification, no need to earn the CAPM Certification. Instead, I'd encourage you to see what certifications in your industry would give you the most value and biggest ROI as you look into future roles that you might want to qualify for in the next 3-5 years. For me, I decided to study for the PMI-ACP Certification this year, which I'm documenting my entire journey on my YT Channel through a monthly video series (check it out, if you haven't already). Hope this helped!
Hi Alvin! I've started my journey and I have a question. I've been taking my notes on the notion template but I can see that some videos from the CAPM Exam Prep seminar by Joseph Phillips doesn't have a question to answer. Does this means that I have to also add them or is it just better to focus on the ones that you outlined based on the Content Outline by PMI? Thanks for reading me!
Awesome Video! Regarding the CAPM Exam Prep Seminar 25 contact hours. -Do you get a certificate after completing the course? -Also did you have to upload the cert for PMI to verify prior to taking the CAPM course? Thank you!
After you take the CAPM Course from Udemy, you get a certificate that you can download as a .pdf file. When you are preparing your application, you do NOT need to upload the cert in PMI's website
Hi Alvin, I had a few questions regarding the CAPM examination, but don't know who to ask for guidance. So I'm just stating them here: 1. How long is the CAPM certification valid? 2. I am pursuing the Google Professional P.M certificate, can it be taken under the 23-hour study requirement? 3. Can I directly register for the exam, without the prep material? (I don't want to use the PMI prep course as I already have the PMOK guide and other free resources) Thanks in advance.
1. Per PMI's website, your CAPM Certification lasts 3 years. Every 3 years, you need to earn 15 PDUs: www.pmi.org/certifications/certification-resources/maintain/requirements 2. Yes, the Google PM Certificate will count towards the educational hr requirement of 23 hours. 3. You can only register for the exam AFTER you have already met the 23 hour educational requirement. It's one of the first things you input into the CAPM Application
@@alvinthepmofficial Thank you Alvin. In the my final question I was actually asking if the PMI's prep is necessary as the google certificate already fills the 23hr requirement.

Hey Alvin, just curious, is there any reason you recommend Joseph’s course instead of Andrew Ramdayal’s? Is one truly better than the other? Which would be the BEST option to learn and qualify for the exam? The Google certificate course, Andrew Ramdayal’s course, or Joseph Phillips’ course?
@Adrian-Mel, I haven't personally gone through Andrew Ramdayal's course, so I can't share any feedback on how it is. In my video, I only share resources that I have personally used, which helped me score Above Target in All Domains. The Google Certification will give you a very strong foundation in project management, and I'd recommend going through it, since it has a very robust program and walks you through many concepts.
It was one factor that helped improve my confidence, actually taught me how to manage projects following a process, and also helped me stand out when I applied to job opportunities. I encourage anyone who is just getting started and/or who has little to no experience in Project Management, to take the CAPM Exam, since it'll help you learn new skills, which will carry through in any role you pursue in the future, even if it's not project management related. What's the biggest roadblock that's holding you back?
1. When you signup to take your exam, you can choose which Exam Center is physically closest to you. Or, you can take it online 2. I'd just call it Google Project Management Certificate on the resume
I am trying to ease my way into PM. I am thinking of getting the CAPM and the moving to PMP. Is this worth it. My background is in healthcare and I want to move to more program management.
Hi Julissa, getting your CAPM is a great first step to easing your way into program management, and was the path that I took to switch from Engineering to Project Management. If you already have 3 years of project management experience, then I'd recommend going straight for your PMP
Quick question for all people who passed or are passing the CAPM exam, is there any way to not take the 23 PDU's hours of education and avoid paying for it like 400$, to be able to apply for the exam?
From PMI's website, the 24 hours of education is required to take the exam. And, you can easily get the 23 PDUs through a Udemy course at a very affordable cost (as I've shared in the video). Here's PMI's website for reference: www.pmi.org/certifications/certified-associate-capm

It sounds like you're on the right track! When I was studying for my CAPM Exam, my progress was also slow, and it took awhile for my scores to increase from 30% to 70%. Hi Alvin, I’m giving my 2nd attempt of CAPM on 5th march. I hope I pass… I had used all the tips n tricks u have mentioned in this video for my 1st attempt… unfortunately I failed. Do u have any tips as I’m very scared.
Don't give up!! You're very close to passing your exam :) Here are my tips for your second attempt - 1) Login to the PMI website with your account, and go to your Certification page, and look at your test results - so you can narrow down which Domain and Area you scored the weakest in. 2)I Study the areas that you scored the weakest in, and hone in on establishing a strong foundation in these topics; 3) Take daily practice questions with Pocket Prep on the domains you scored the weakest in, 4) Take all the Exam Simulators with Prepcast - keep an exam log of the questions you scored incorrectly and understand the reasoning behind each answer choice. Apply all of these strategies and you'll slowly start to see your practice quizzes increase in score
It'll depend on your bandwidth and the workload you're going through.
