- Thank you to American Airlines and all other volunteers, agencies, organizations, and pilots that went above and beyond in support of us and honoring LCpl Casey R. Hayden, as took his final journey home to his family in New York and has been laid to rest.
LCpl Casey Ryan Hayden, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, Casey was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. He was stationed at Twentynine Palms as an Ammunitions Technician. He joined the Corp in October 2014. He graduated from the Corps quartermaster school in March 2015. He served in a string of California units, including, 11th Marines and Combat and Logistics Regiment 15, both at Camp Pendleton.
Prior to his commitment to his country, Casey was part of the Navy Jr. ROTC throughout his 4 years of high school. He was also active in several sports including baseball, basketball, and football. Casey enjoyed the simple things in life, spending time with his family, fishing/gaming with his stepdad, playing ball with his friends, video games with his nephews and cousins and he never missed an opportunity to tell his mother he loved her.

Every time I watch these videos I cry. I am a veteran that thinks back to 1979 when our Squadron lost an airman to a vehicle accident. This was not an easy time as his family was across the country from us. We were stationed at Fairchild AFB, while his family lived in Virginia. We honored Steve as our brother and I have not forgotten though it has been 42 years now. The Honor given by airline personnel, police, fire fighters, first responders and civilians tells me we still love our country and the men and women whom choose to serve her. I am also a retired law enforcement officer and have lost a few officers during my career, nothing is easy about it, especially if you know that person. I am in awe to those that take the time to honor those that gave everything so we can keep our freedoms. For whatever reason God has kept me upright and going strong at 64 years of age, and I still love our country and it's veterans!!!

The military does not choose where they serve,they are there to resolve the arguments of governments and politicians.Hardly any politician looses their life in conflict but many military loose their lives,so it is right that any fallen servicemen should be honoured and respected.
On our flight to Pennsylvania from New Orleans, we were told after landing it would be about 30 mins before we could get off that a fallen soldier was on the flight. There was no sound, you could hear a pin drop. One lady couldnt keep it in and she started sobbing. So of course, we all did. Its so unfair. I'll never take my freedom for granted, ever.
