- After concluding our adventures in Joshua Tree National Park, we head back to Vegas briefly. While there, we chance upon an inflatable kayak, and decide to test it out against the Colorado River. The Lake Mead National Recreation Area is giant, and the Willow Beach Marina is only a tiny section of the park. We set off from the picnic area and make our way upstream. Before long, we make it to Emerald Cave, and after a short que, we get our chance to explore inside. Not as exciting as hoped, but well worth the trip. Best to enjoy the journey, not the destination. Sorry for the late reply but it was from Willow Landing just South of Emerald Cave.
Nice! How long did it take you to paddle from Willow to the Cave? And how was the current/wind? Were you fighting against it a good amount in that kayak? What time of day did you start out? Sorry for all the questions - just trying to figure out if it would be doable with a family of four in our two inflatables (they're a little nicer than the Intex ones so the fact that you did this in an Intex is amazing haha).
