So I'm from germany I watched exactly 1:56 minutes and I understood everything I needed for this one thing because I had to miss class and didn't understand my homework. THANK YOU
Hi, I've been using your videos to help me study for a while now and I just wanted to say wow, you're so articulate and helpful. Plus, you have such a wide range of videos. Thank you so much!
Professor organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for a powerful explanation of How to calculate Parts Per Million (ppm) and Parts Per Billion (ppb) in AP/General Chemistry. Once again, the problem selection, which includes conversions is excellent from start to finish. This is an error free video/lecture on TH-cam TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.
This vid makes it harder than it needs to be. ppm is just the concentration (i.e. number of parts of something per 1 million whole parts of something), so 5 ppm = 5 * 1/1,000,000 or 5/1,000,000 = 0.000005 (concentration) To convert it back from decimal value to ppm concentration, just multiply it by 1,000,000 (e.g.: 0.000005 * 1,000,000 = 5 ppm So in his last example, we have the question: How many micrograms of Na3PO4 is in a 500 mL solution that has a 1.02 g/mL density, when the known Na3PO4 concentration is 400 ppb. 400 ppb = 400/1e9 = 0.0000004 (i.e. the concentration of Na3PO4 in the solution) 500 mL * 1.02 g/mL = 500 g of solution Since the unknown is the grams of Na3PO4 in the solution, we can construct our solution equation as: x g Na3PO4 / 510 g solution = 0.0000004 solving for x, we get: 510 * 0.0000004 = 0.000204 g of Na3PO4 = 204 µg of Na3PO4 (e.g. 0.000204 * 1,000,000 = 204)
Thank you for solving the problem related to ppm. The carbon dioxide concentration is also used in ppm, but this is not based on solute and solute quality, but based on number. I'm worried if I gave you the wrong information. Can I ask for your opinion on this?
questions : if it said that 1 g/m3 of CH3Br is equals to 257 ppm (v/v), how did they come up with 257? can you please explain this to me? thank you very much
How do you bring down ppms in soil? My ppm read 2k-2,500 which is extremely high. Is there anyway to lower that using distilled tap water phd with a tds of 90?
I always wanted to study chemistry at college or uni after graduating from high school, but is so damn expensive 🥲. Watching this type of videos makes me miss my chemistry classes at high school.
in the final step of the conversion unit, shouldnt he had used insted 1 gram equals to 1 000 000 micrograms for the final part to get the unit conversion? even if i check with an online calculator i get a different result, or am i just crazy!?
Thank-you for the lesson I guess I understand some gas wells produce a heavier concentration than others so when it comes to therms of natural gas how would it be calculated as usable product for use in creating 1kwh of electricity? Thank you for listening and your expertize
Amphetamines in urine can be confirmed by mass spectroscopy at a concentration of 500 ng/mL. Assuming a urine density of 1.025 g/mL, what is this concentration in parts per million? how do you solve this question, i have tried many times but still nothing
500 ng/mL ------- 5x10^-7 g/mL 5x10^-7 g 1mL sol ----------- X -------------------------------- , here you cancel out the mL units and get mL sol 1.025 g sol what you would need to use the ppm formula ppm= 5x10^-7 g solute ----------------------------------------- X 10^6 = 0.49 ppm 1.025 g solution
Good video, however, does anyone knows how he come up with "you'll get 2.04 times to the negative 4?" Specifically with the exponent 10 to the minus 4?? Help!
Sir can u please teach some problems how to predict product of non metals with oxygen. Plzz sir. Please reply or like sir so that I can know that u will do the video for it😢
Doesn't this only work when the solvent and the solute particles have exactly the same mass? You take the mass ratio, that is not the same as the particle amount ratio right?
You have to face a Holy God on Judgment Day. He sees lust as adultery (Matt. 5:28) and hatred as murder (1 John 3:15). Will you be guilty? Jesus took your punishment on the cross, and rose again defeating death, to save you from Hell. Repent (Luke 13:5) and trust in Him today.
If ppb covers to 400 I sorry the school called ok on your calculations you say you have 400 after conversion but my question was how many terms is in that ppb?I have to calculate 7.4 terms to produce 1kwh of electricity, Thank you

Not in his bag LOL
You are literally the best tutor TH-cam has ever had👏
Needed to see only one practice problem and I've got it! Thanks for being a great tutor!!!
This is the only channel which clears all the quiries
Thank You So Much 🙏🙏

ppm is just the concentration (i.e. number of parts of something per 1 million whole parts of something), so 5 ppm = 5 * 1/1,000,000 or 5/1,000,000 = 0.000005 (concentration)
To convert it back from decimal value to ppm concentration, just multiply it by 1,000,000 (e.g.: 0.000005 * 1,000,000 = 5 ppm
So in his last example, we have the question: How many micrograms of Na3PO4 is in a 500 mL solution that has a 1.02 g/mL density, when the known Na3PO4 concentration is 400 ppb.
400 ppb = 400/1e9 = 0.0000004 (i.e. the concentration of Na3PO4 in the solution)
500 mL * 1.02 g/mL = 500 g of solution
Since the unknown is the grams of Na3PO4 in the solution, we can construct our solution equation as: x g Na3PO4 / 510 g solution = 0.0000004
solving for x, we get: 510 * 0.0000004 = 0.000204 g of Na3PO4 = 204 µg of Na3PO4 (e.g. 0.000204 * 1,000,000 = 204)
He makes it so complicated, in some of the example, we just want to solve for grams of solute and it takes me a long way.
exactly what I was thinking.
great sir..... thank you for uploading this.... love from srilanka
شكرا جزيلا دكتور ❤❤👏👏
u r great !! u"s teaching taught me so much, please cover zeroth law of thermodynamic with problems.
Ya I need it too
thank you sm my teacher trolled us for a week straight bro
I've studied this in toxicology

Hey how to convert pptt to ppm
per-mill:‰
per-million: ppm
per-billion: ppb
per-trillion: ppt

Great sir
i'd like to ask our of confusion, isn't 1ppm = 1mg?
Good video, however, does anyone knows how he come up with "you'll get 2.04 times to the negative 4?" Specifically with the exponent 10 to the minus 4?? Help!
Right I got 10 to the power of 14 I thought my calculator was messing up
help:
How many grams of K+ does one liter of a 500 ppm KClO3 solution contain?
I hope you join to Islam ☪️ because you are amazing 🤩 ❤❤❤
2nd question it is 11.25not 1.125
Your explanation is good but my basic concept is not clear 😢
I don’t know what parts per million is but it’s part of the carbon monoxide

1ppb should be equal to 1000 ppm..
No, bec. The possible parts that will be found in billon is more than those in million
@Manar Metway u r welcome

@@mohamedabdelwanis5192 Oh thanks
yall need more education if you think 1ppb ≠ 1000ppm
