Girllll I know the struggle! I’m olive skin too and foundation is always either too yellow, too pink, too pale, or good but oxidizes 😩 struggle is real!!!
makeupbylulz hopefully I get it right in the foundation mixing video! THe struggle is REAL! Everytime I think My foundation looks good with one color I hold up my arm to my face and there’s a significant difference in undertone bahaha
I have oily skin and this foundation is one of the few that I can wear all day and it not completely melt off my face! Love that this is also a clean makeup brand so I feel good about putting it over my breakouts. Great coverage and will be rebuying more of it!
maybe in your skin series you could include some info about foundation on the nose.. haha sounds vague but i can never get foundation to sit well on and around my nose area. i have a lot of texture there from blackheads and no matter what primer/foundation combo i use, it always breaks up on my nose and the crevasses. some tips would be much appreciated!!
YES. My skintype is dry/dehydrated and sensitive but I still get tons of blackheads and blemishes and hormonal breakouts on and around my nose. Like. I used a hyaloronic acid mask yesterday and woke up with perfect glowy skin, even the texture disappeard, except for my nose. It was around 26°C here the past days but my nose is textured, dry and flakey and the Foundation immediately breaks apart somehow. And I use MAC F&B or the Maybelline Cushion, those are not heavy Foundations.
Yes same here!! The foundation will look flawless everywhere else and just sit weird on my nose. I’ve tried the paint pot and eye primer I’ve literally tried it all and nothing helps.
Jae B I have the same issue. And I also have pretty dry skin. Have you tried a chemical exfoiliant for the texture?? Try any AHA mask, toner, moisturizer and cleanser. Not sure about your budget but if you don't mind splurging on skin care, the Dr. Dennis Gross alpha beta daily peel will change your life. Also, any really good pore clearing and detoxifying product, especially around the nose and mouth area. Doing that, is the only thing that has helped drastically how my foundation sits in that area.
Nicha it’s the new burts bees liquid lipsticks that are launching soon (or are already out). The color is Niagra Nude 802 - updated the description box when I get home!
Yes to the Skin Series! Yes to the Foundation Series! Yes to any and all videos you do! Total round of applause to Cover FX for helping out us olive toned girls! Thanks for the review. Your complete makeup? Stunning! And totally digging the bangs!
I absolutely love this foundation. G40+ is my perfect match. I usually mix a little hourglass mineral veil primer into it to make it easier to apply. My skin is combo and it lasts all day. In the winter this will not work for me when its more dry. I also love the natural finish foundation from cover fx. Its more hydrating perfect for dry skin! Also comes in the G40+ which works perfect for light-medium olive skin.
loving those bangs!!! awesome video as always! i have an olive skin tone and i’ve bought many foundations based on your recommendations! i’ll have to check this one out!
Love the bangs. And I also have the same skin problems as you and I’m also olive skin toned. It has been difficult for me to find the right shade of foundation and what would work for my dry areas ( nose and chin drying). So far I have been using the Mac face and body foundation and so far I like it. But my chin and nose area look weird after a few hours of wear.
I have normal/combo skin with an oily t-zone and I thought the foundation was okay. I’m the shade G50+ and I find that it applies best when I squeeze a teeny bit on my finger, dot it on one section of my face, and use a kabuki brush to blend. Before it dries I pounce my beauty blender to make sure it’s nice and blended. My cons are that it dries super fast and it smells like paint.
YESS A FOUNDATION FOR OLIVE SKINTONES!! I always have to mix foundations as well. please continue to do a skin series!!! how you remove blackheads, your routine when you have congested skin, dealing with dry, flaky skin/patches etc. :)
Melissa, I love your channel, I usually never comment but I needed to tell you: it is sooo helpful that you came up close to the camera so we could actually see how the foundation sits on the skin, thanks! I always struggle with foundation because I live in the hottest place and work in construction, so I've got to shower a thousand times a day, my skin is always either dry or oily/sweaty. I can't find the right foundation that gives my a nice (medium) coverage that looks like skin AND sits well on my skin even when it's dry, but looks matte through the day. It would be helpful too if you did close-up check ups when giving a foundation review. Foundations are pretty expensive and I go through them like crazy, and it's nice to get a nice foundation instead of having a few just sitting because they didn't work out. So thank you and love your channel!
Melissa you should try out ex1 foundations! those are made for olive skin tones , and also have a beautiful finish!!!! my faaaaav foundation!!!! try out pls
okay so i have yellow to olive undertones and have never been able to find my perfect foundation color EXCEPT in cover fx foundations. I havent tried this new one out yet, but ive used the mineral powder foundation for a couple years now and I love it. i'd been waiting for them to finally come out with a liquid one and HALLELUJAH, IT'S HERE!!! but cover fx seriously caters to ALL skin tones AND undertones and i adore that
Love the faux bangs! I love the series idea. The skin- I would think it would be about skin. Shaving, waxing, tanning, and skin care tips and tricks and perhaps salon services like facials or Dermaplaning microblading, tint/lift lashes. Explaining what each is and the benefits of that treatment. Maybe a series 'follow me'..to the facialist, to a brow wax, to whatever. I loved when you vlogged your dark spark removal. The foundation reviews are awesome. Personally I would love to see in-depth makeup for eye shapes like hooded or downturned eyes or face shapes. What typically looks good on round faces or square faces. Just some ideas.
I think you just taught me that I'm actually olive toned!! Pink undertoned foundations look too pink on me and yellow toned foundations look too gray on me. D: Also, your final makeup look makes you look like an Asian princess for some reason haha
I was about to buy this coz i have oily skin and has textured skin but thank god this video came first. Thank you for the honest opinion, i really enjoyed it. Anyway, would love it if u also do several check in after first application just to see when the oil starts to break through (oily skin guuurl like me would very appreciate it hehe) love you happy weekend
This is great! I’ve never been able to find something that matches me exactly and doesn’t go too pale or turn too orange after it oxidizes. P.S. You’re rocking those bangs!
Giving me Zooey de Chanel vibes!!! 😍😍😍 I absolutely love this new skin series. I’ve looked at that foundation but I loved the new NARS radiant longwear much better. Where is your faux bangs from? So cute! I low key want them for my daughter before I actually trim her hair lol
combination skin girl, here. about the application technique: i actually find that the best way to use it is to spread it out with a flat foundation/concealer brush in sections, and then go in with the beautyblender. it looks incredible! i do have some texture, and this technique smoothes it all out, no problem. also, their fair shades are great, i have the one in N0, which is borderline too pale for me, and that rarely ever happens.
Love the bangs ! And the looks! It’s sooooooo pretty ! So effortless and just gorgeous ! But I think you could possibly combine your foundation and skin series because it’s all about skin and that includes foundation so I think if you wanted to put them together that’d be cool ! We could watch your skin care tips so that we know how to better improve our base and then we could have foundation reviews, and tips or tricks to top it off !
When you put on a foundation and it clings to dry patches like around the nose and chin, how do you still set with powder and not look like a cakey mess? I have extremely dry skin around my mouth and powder makes it worse but I still want to set my makeup so it doesn’t move.....
Teresa Valles lightly powder, buff in as much as possible, and use a hydrating setting spray like Mac fix plus or urban decay chill. That will help a lot!
Like the person above said, light powder and a good setting spray that works with your skin.... Pixi has good setting sprays, they are the only ones that don't make my face feel tight and sticky... I use the green one - I think it's called pixi glow mist and it makes your skin DEWY AF!
Yes! Do a foundation series! I’m thinking about trying this foundation out. I struggle finding my shade. Last time i went to sephora to get matched...it was a fail 😂 I’m no make up pro but as many videos as i watch on TH-cam lol you guys have taught me a few things and what the lady at Sephora was doing to my face 🤦🏻♀️...maybe I’ll go to a different location next time lol
I tried this foundation a few months ago and I was not a huge fan. I don't think I gave it a fair shot though. Sometimes I have certain foundations that I wear in the winter more than summer and vice versa - this seems like it might be a summer foundation for me because I'm more sweaty/oily in the summer (like most people). When I did try it, it was so drying on my skin that I hated it. It gave me a similar experience to the Fenty Foundation (which I want to love so bad!!). I'll definitely be trying this again w/ your technique instead! I'll have to play with different primers too. This video was so helpful and your skin looks so flawless, like always!!
I actually really liked this foundation I have really dry skin so I assumed it wouldn't work for me but it did. I have been exfoliating my skin every week with the neogean pad so I haven't had any dry patches or much texture I also use the hourglass serum primer or the Laura mercier hydrating primer and it wears beautifully. I also love the olive undertone so nice to not have to mix
Margaret Hemenway I’ve found usually that means it leans more yellow toned. I’ve had the best luck using neutral foundations. Estée Lauder has a lot of shades that fit my light-medium olive skin.
Margaret Hemenway hi there, yes golden typically means more yellow/olive toned. While (like Melissa mentioned in the video) the G+ shades in Cover FX are even more olive (slightly green undertoned), and great for many Mediterranean skin tones 😁
when I see it on images it looks more cool-neutral than olive to me? How does it look in real life? I have to use a green corrector but they're always very light -_- so I bought a darker foundation for mixing in the green corrector
VioletteOrdinaire girl!!! It’s defs olive. It comes out a browner colour but once you mix it in, it does give your foundation an olive undertone. I mixed it in with a neutral foundation (which always comes off really pink on my skin tone) and it helped a ton.
Please help! How do you figure out what undertones are good for you? I've heard about depending on the color your veins but mine look all different colors 😭 (blue, green, purple)
OMG WHAT IS THAT LIP COLOR!!??? I would love a separate skin series and maybe a complexion series with foundation, concealer, etc. Love you so much! 💕💕💕
ALSO! Could you please include doing the rest of your makeup when you do a foundation review? I would like to know how to set it, how to apply and layer products. You do a great job of explaining why a brush over sponge, the type of finish, etc. love your videos! ❤️
I'm really pale but have this olive undertone from my mum, who is more tan, and I always struggle because foundations which are technically yellow toned always look orange on me - like there's not enough green (if that makes sense) and neutral foundations wash me out so bad.
I really appreciate these close up look. You don’t realize that it will look different up close in comparison to on camera. I will have to include these in my reviews. ❤️
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do the Foundation for Olive Skin video! We need it out here! Us olive girls are struggling to find matches and running around looking soo pink.
This looked heavy on my skin the first time I wore this. I was in a hurry & it looked awful. But the second time I wore this I used a kabuki brush & applied it in sections with very little product. I usually have combo skin with an oily t zone and dry patches around my face. My skincare has made me pretty normal lately though. I would recommend buy just play around with it to find what you like best with it. I don't set this at all. If I do I look old & dry & gross. So I don't set it
I have light (not super fair, but more like light-medium) skin with an olive undertone, and it's so hard to find foundations that match me because companies seem to think that olive skin tones are only in people with medium skin tones 😭just in general for lighter foundation shades, the yellow undertones are way too yellow, the pink ones are way too pink, and the neutral ones are still a little too pink for me.
First things first, wow those bangs look so good on you! You should rock them more often :) next since you mentioned you're gonna make a video about finding the right shade for olive undertones, i hope you can also cover the basics like how to actually determine if you have an olive undertone. I have significantly green veins on my wrists so i would typically go for warm foundations. However sometimes i find they don't quite suit my skin, eventhough the color is spot on. I'm guessing it has something to with my undertone. I might be an olive afterall? Lol idk. You're reviews are so extensive so i'm hoping you can touch base on that as well. Thank you so much, and warm hugs from the philippines! 🌺🌴
Girllll I know the struggle! I’m olive skin too and foundation is always either too yellow, too pink, too pale, or good but oxidizes 😩 struggle is real!!!
makeupbylulz hopefully I get it right in the foundation mixing video! THe struggle is REAL! Everytime I think
My foundation looks good with one color I hold up my arm to my face and there’s a significant difference in undertone bahaha
This G40+ and MUFE Y225, are the best olive foundations I have come across!
Myra Nas May I ask what shade are you in MAC?
I have oily skin and this foundation is one of the few that I can wear all day and it not completely melt off my face! Love that this is also a clean makeup brand so I feel good about putting it over my breakouts. Great coverage and will be rebuying more of it!

Chloe M you should try putting Mac paint pot in your nose before foundation, algo Becca ever Matte poreless primer is like GLUE for your makeup
YES. My skintype is dry/dehydrated and sensitive but I still get tons of blackheads and blemishes and hormonal breakouts on and around my nose. Like. I am EXTREMELY oily and picked up G60..perfect color match and I wore it for 10 hours before I got shiny..fantastic foundation for oily skin types.
ellaroo700 I’m oily too girl. I’m def going to try it 👌🏻❤️
ellaroo700 What shade are you in Mac or Nars for shade reference? 💗
Is it full coverage?
I love the bangs it brings ur eyes out
Misharee Woods thank you! I’m going to stick with the clip-ins and play around with it more hahaha
What lip makeup are you using? That pink compliments olive tones so well and I wanna wear light pink on my lips without looking washed out lol.
Nicha it’s the new burts bees liquid lipsticks that are launching soon (or are already out). The color is Niagra Nude 802 - updated the description box when I get home!

Lisa G. Thank you! I do like the way my skin looked with a matte foundation on camera
The color match is impressive, and damn near perfect!
OMG I love you're makeup at the end with the bangs! You look super cute!!! Wish you would have finished the entire make up look. I love it!!
I have normal/combo skin with an oily t-zone and I thought the foundation was okay. MELISSA PLEASE what lashes were you wearing?! Or atleast tell me a tutorial on the look is coming!! 😍😍😍😍😍
I think the skin series should be separate from the foundation one. Skin should not be confused with complexion if that makes any sense.
Nightwing Shawshank gotcha - that’s why I needed your guys help on this!
Melissa Alatorre all good 👍
Yes girl! Please do a foundation review! I love your recommendations and your color choices are always my cheat for when I have to order online! ❤️

Foundation suggestions for someone with very dry skin with some fine lines? Especially the relentless smile lines. Something light and affordable
We need a tutorial on this look!!!!!😍
I think you just taught me that I'm actually olive toned!! Pink undertoned foundations look too pink on me and yellow toned foundations look too gray on me. D: Also, your final makeup look makes you look like an Asian princess for some reason haha

Ok but your skin is flawless like sis you’re actually glowing! 🙌🏽
Yes! Plsssss do both series. I adore you and everything about you 💜💜💜
You'r makeup is amazing when you are finished!!! Such a different look for you with the hair. Can you tell me what faux bangs you are wearing?
This is great! I’ve never been able to find something that matches me exactly and doesn’t go too pale or turn too orange after it oxidizes. P.S. You’re rocking those bangs!
Can you review the Stellar foundation? They are in sephora and cater to olive skin tones. I would like to hear your opinion about it.
I love the entire look!
Please list the eye shadows and lipstick 💄
Those bangs look soooooo good on you! For real!
Can you put what products you wore pls ! ❤️
Shakira Brizuela yes, I looked and they weren't listed.
I love this loooook on youuuuu
I was wondering... what's your favorite foundation?
Giving me Zooey de Chanel vibes!!! 😍😍😍 I absolutely love this new skin series. I’ve looked at that foundation but I loved the new NARS radiant longwear much better. Where is your faux bangs from? So cute! I low key want them for my daughter before I actually trim her hair lol

Deylah Fountain wait do you mean buff the powder or the foundation?
K I’m definitely going to pick it up tomorrow! Thank you!
Both but the powder as far as powder clinging. It’s important to make sure everything blends in with the skin.
Yes! Do a foundation series! I’m thinking about trying this foundation out. I struggle finding my shade. Where are the bangs from?? Love them.
The bangs are so beautiful and flattering on you!
What are the clips you're using to hold back your hair called? (also you look great with bangs) X
I tried this foundation a few months ago and I was not a huge fan. I don't think I gave it a fair shot though. Omg Melissa!!!! This makeup look suits you so so so much! Love love love! Can you do more looks like this! 😍😍😍
Wow! First TH-camr who is the same shade and undertone as me! Love your review!
please do a quick tip on how you blended the faux bangs with your hair
Also, what brush did you use to apply the foundation?
Where do you get your tiny hoop earrings from? Appreciate it!
What blush are you using? It's beautiful!
Your skin always amazes me😍😍 thank you for this great review as always💗💗
Where did you get your faux bangs! I love them :)
What did you wear on your lips? Love the color
what lipstick is that?! you didn't link it down below! :-(
This look is gorgeous! Please do a tutorial on the eye makeup! Xxx
Your eyes look so good, what lashes did you have on??💕💕💕💕
Hey ! Where did you get your faux bangs ? It looks so natural 😄
Something I've always wondered - at Sephora they said I had "golden" undertones - is that the same as having an olive skintone?
Margaret Hemenway I’ve found usually that means it leans more yellow toned. I’ve had the best luck using neutral foundations. Estée Lauder has a lot of shades that fit my light-medium olive skin.
Margaret Hemenway hi there, yes golden typically means more yellow/olive toned. While (like Melissa mentioned in the video) the G+ shades in Cover FX are even more olive (slightly green undertoned), and great for many Mediterranean skin tones 😁
Love the bangs! Where are they from!
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG
The olive mixer from NYX is so good!!! Try it out! It helps w a lot of my foundations
when I see it on images it looks more cool-neutral than olive to me? How does it look in real life? I have to use a green corrector but they're always very light -_- so I bought a darker foundation for mixing in the green corrector
VioletteOrdinaire girl!!! It’s defs olive. It comes out a browner colour but once you mix it in, it does give your foundation an olive undertone. I mixed it in with a neutral foundation (which always comes off really pink on my skin tone) and it helped a ton.
Please help! How do you figure out what undertones are good for you?
I've heard about depending on the color your veins but mine look all different colors 😭 (blue, green, purple)
Where did you get your tiny hoops from?? Loves this video btw
Loved this vid and the concept of a skin series and foundation series. Can you list the products you used.....that lip color is just gorgeous! :)
Your skin looks amazing lately! What have you been using?
OMG WHAT IS THAT LIP COLOR!!??? I would love a separate skin series and maybe a complexion series with foundation, concealer, etc. Love you so much! 💕💕💕
Can you please do a video on how you style your faux bangs?
What products do you use to get rid of texture?
Your new hair is so pretty!!
For my olive skin I get a yellow base foundation and add green primer or green color corrector to it
ALSO! Could you please include doing the rest of your makeup when you do a foundation review? I would like to know how to set it, how to apply and layer products. You do a great job of explaining why a brush over sponge, the type of finish, etc. love your videos! ❤️
Love the bangs, they're giving you french vibes!
I'm really pale but have this olive undertone from my mum, who is more tan, and I always struggle because foundations which are technically yellow toned always look orange on me - like there's not enough green (if that makes sense) and neutral foundations wash me out so bad.
I'm combo/dry and it does cling a little but I can deal with it bc the rest of the makeup lasts so long. It's my new favorite.
Ahhh your bangs! They look so good on you!
Omg shook to the core with the finished look 6:54, so gorgeous!
I really appreciate these close up look. You don’t realize that it will look different up close in comparison to on camera. I will have to include these in my reviews. ❤️
Love your videos! What earrings are you wearing? They’re so cute.
Those bangs... girl!!! Living
Please do the foundation video for olive skin tone! The struggle is REAALLLL.
PLEASE DO a wear test review for the makeup foundation MINERAL FUSION sold at Thrive Market. Please!!!🙏🏻
Which eyeliner are you using?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do the Foundation for Olive Skin video! We need it out here! Us olive girls are struggling to find matches and running around looking soo pink.
Info on your faux bangs please. Beautiful look.
What shade did she use
What is olive undertone? Green?
This looked heavy on my skin the first time I wore this. I was in a hurry & it looked awful. But the second time I wore this I used a kabuki brush & applied it in sections with very little product. I usually have combo skin with an oily t zone and dry patches around my face. My skincare has made me pretty normal lately though. I would recommend buy just play around with it to find what you like best with it. I don't set this at all. If I do I look old & dry & gross. So I don't set it
what lashes are you wearing on this video?
Can’t decide on this one, sometimes I wear it it looks amazing sometimes it looks horrible 😬 you look stunning as always though

I love the idea of both a skin and foundation series
