Lee Simon and Peter Harrison were always my favourite DJ's on 3XY.I loved both their radio voices and never in my wildest dreams did I think Harro looked like he did until watching this. This clip was really interesting to watch and to have a sneak preview of how a radio station works. Thanks heaps for sharing........ If only we could go back to them days and that type of music that was played back then.
I made many good friends from XYs time in Corio, when XY similcasted with BayFM, even met you a couple times at the distillery Ken. XY, along with BayFM, had a massive influence on my life and radio career. Hope you're doing well mate.
harro, best dj oz ever had, i followed you for years, doing my paper round, in the early 70s on AM them to FM, wer'nt you the original morning crew when 3kz went to kz fm?now gold 104, anyway a true proffessional
It sounds like at that time they were trying an endearingly self deprecating, irreverent style of radio. Problem was I think that by a few years later, they'd drowned in their own mediocrity. Like they said about the Austen Tayshus record, after hearing it twice, it wasn't funny anymore.
Loved 3XY. Listened to it thtoughout the 70s and 80s. The Top 40 in particular, Rocktober!!! Great memories.
When Melbourne was Melbourne. 3XY was so big back then growing up in 70s and 80s. It was the station we all listened to in that era...

Absolutely brilliant! There hasn't been a station like 3XYsince....Thank you for the footage.
Seven years later, after getting back from overseas, I worked at that place off and on until it moved to Geelong, where sadly, it closed.

That first DJ has such a good voice. Today's hit music stations have announcers who sound like their voices have not broken.
Peter Harrison was the first DJ I worked with him at 3DB (DBMUSIC)

Hi Brian, can you do a tribute to my late Buddy Keith McGowen?
