H. Rider Haggard's She (2006)

Though primarily an adventure-fantasy, She is also a tale of terrible evil and it does in fact share some key supernatural elements with the story of Dorian Gray - and you might argue that its influence has been felt in some of the many variations of 'The Mummy' in cinema. The most famous film adaptation of She was produced by Hammer films, and while they produced plenty of non-Horror films, 'She' is nonetheless often grouped together with their Horror output. It all comes down to She Who Must Be Obeyed herself. She's very, very evil. I gather that J.R.R. Tolkien found the character very influential too - the elf-queen Galadriel with her overpowering beauty is based on She... but so (in a very different way) is the horrible Shelob...

I also have another channel, Mystical Magpie, which has a lot of Adventure and Fantasy stories on it - including She, but a number of other stories like The Lost World and The Thirty Nine Steps which you would probably enjoy too...
