A few days past a proclaimed absconder returned to Pakistan after fleeing the country eight long years ago. His plane landed in Islamabad in the wee hours and his case was heard on the very same day too. He appeared before IHC chief justice Minallah as soon as the court opened. His bail plea was promptly dispensed by the ICJ who grantted it and ordered him to appear before NAB court in Lahore to reconfirm it. NAB too following ICJ's footsteps confirmed bail on September 7, 2022. Neither it nor the government offered any resistance to this most swift pronouncement of bail. They were not to be deterred by the fact that the absconder was on their most wanted lists for embezzlement of *7,000,000,000* rupees out of a property scam totalling *PKR 16 billion* in 2014. He was absconding for the last eight years. Not a single news channel and none of the screaming presenters carried the news. Not even a whimper was heard. This man, Kamran Kayani, is the brother of former Army Chief Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kayani. He was the principal offender in the Lahore DHA City launched in 2010 when the general was not only the chief but by the same virtue, the head of Defence Housing Authority as well. The military estate developer backed the shady project that was later investigated in 2014 and found to be a property scam that fleeced thousands of applicants who innocently registered to buy plots in the scheme. Their complaints collected dust in NAB and FIA offices for five years until 2013. On the eve of being sentenced and for the fear of arrest the younger Kayani was quietly made to board a flight out of Lahore in 2014 to escape Pakistan and it's justice system. A precedence has now been set for the return of another absconder ensconced in the lap of luxury in London.
