@ ExistencialistaAntiHumanista No, he hasn't set fire to the rug yet. That's inaccurate! That part of the timeline hasn't happened yet, prior to this incident. I always wonder if anyone who brings this up has actually seen the movie. "They didn't meet a guy named Marty?" Bedroom scene: (Marty) "Actually people call me Marty" (Loraine) "Please to meet you Calvin...Marty" Marty and Loraine in the car at prom: (Loraine) "Marty it's not like I've never parked before" "Marty you seem so nervous is something wrong?" "Marty don't be such a square!" "Marty you're beginning to sound just like my mother" After "Johnny be good" performance: (Loraine) "Marty that was very interesting music" "Marty will we ever see you again?" (George) "Marty I wanna thank you for all of your good advice" (Loraine) "Marty...such a nice name" 👈 Which pretty much gave her the idea to name her child Marty.
People who say George and Lorraine should recognize him need to remember that Marty was only in 1955 for one week. 30 years later, I doubt anybody would remember somebody's face they saw for such a short time.
To be fair, 3PO was silver when Owen first owned him and was Gold when he met him again. He could recognize his voice, but odds are he assumed most protocol droids have limited voice sound files. With Part III he had to leave that Delorean in the mine so that Marty could pick it up in 1955. If he were to say, use it for repairs or rebuilding another time machine, Marty would get erased and Doc get shot in the back. I wouldn't necessarily call this a plot hole though, The Bobs did want to imply once that George may have suspected Marty is his future son. Maybe not in 55 but in the present.
Possibly. I admit I thought they would recognize the guy who fixed them up, but they didn't really even that. Hence the scene: George: (after Biff tried to con him about waxing the car) Ah, Biff, what a character! But if it wasn't for him-- Lorraine: We never would've fallen in love! So it seems as though they credited Biff, or more precisely George cold-cocking Biff at the dance, for bringing them together.
yep Marty's supposed to be 8. surprised everyone's leaving 100 comments about that but no mention at how it wasn't the prom it was the enchantment under the sea dance.

How could you possibly remember that. Also Marty also happens to look like a certain 'Mike Corleone' that George's father knew...
George is a sci-fi writer so is likely at least familiar with time travel conceptually and he is presumably aware of Marty's relationship with Doc Brown. Frankly the "doesn't remember" excuse doesn't quite hold up because the cover of his first novel clearly indicates that he is using the memory of his run-in with "Darth Vader" as inspiration and that happened the same week. They also reminisce about Biff's role in them coming together which again - happened that same week. I'd like to think George slowly pieced together the clues and that if Crispin Glover had come back for Part 2 that he and 16-year old Marty would have shared a really good heart-to-heart scene about it in 2015.
This would make sense _if_ Marty wasn't the youngest child in the family. Makes me wonder why she thought it was a "nice name" and yet named her first son Dave.
Could be they had decided on Dave as a name beforehand - maybe after a friend or a relative. Then they figured if they had a second son, they would call him Marty. Remember though that both Dave's and Marty's names were already established in the original timeline. Why change it?
Just clear things up, yes Marty was eight when this happened but the reason they made him look like he did in the movie was so that everybody knew what they were talking about. People know what and who Peter is talking about when he mentions George Mcfly and what George is talking about but for those who still don't have a clue they made Marty his teenage self.
Frankly, even back in 1955, George should have been asking why "Calvin" looked like a McFly. Seamus in BTTF3 and William in BTTF:The Game look a hell of a lot more like Marty than they do George. ;)
LOL, And why does George himself look like Crispen Glover while his dad, his son/Marty, his grandson and his granddaughter all look like Michael J. Fox (probably a reference to Doc telling Marty "I think you were adopted" when he first seen George in Part 1)
Let's look at this logically without succumbing to knee-jerk reactions or powerful emotions... Firstly; who is to say that they DIDN'T consider this? Marty was not present for the 16 years of his life. Who is to say that at some point, George wouldn't have suspected Lorraine did have an affair, confronted her about it, and gotten a Paternity Test? Then once he saw that Marty was his kid, they reconciled and George dropped his paranoia. Lorraine would of course forgive him because of the MOST important factor in this situation - - THEY'RE BOTH HAPPY! Literally the contrast between the beginning and the end of the movie to show their different lives, is to show the difference in how George's life had changed for the better because of Marty's interference. As a result, George is more confident in himself and successful and is willing to take-charge of situations and not take any crap from anybody - especially not the guy waxing his car. Because of George's completely different attitude - instead of being the weak, disinterested, push-over he was in the original timeline, he's much more active in his love-life with Lorraine; so as a result of that, SHE has a reason to care. She let herself go in the original Timeline because George didn't pay any attention to her, so she had no reason to care about her appearance - (that and some good advice from Marty about drinking and smoking from a young age.) The point is, they don't suspect each other of being unfaithful because they're genuinely happy with each other and lead a fulfilling life. And even IF George were to find this completely suspect, I'm confident that if he was open and direct with Lorraine about the possibility of Marty not being his, only to be proven wrong, Lorraine would forgive him and they would move past it.

It took them 21 years realize that? There is a fan theory. That says , that George Mcfly eventuly figured out , what has happened. And thats why he allowed his son to befriend doc Brown . And that the car in car carrage that Marty owns. Thar was thank you gift from George Mcfly .
I wonder if we should mention Marty looks identical to George's grandfather and great grandfather. Also, George himself looks exactly like his dad and also married a woman that looks like his great grandmother. What I'm saying is genetics in this universe is weird.
You know I'm not gonna lie, this cutaway gag is pretty funny, but it would actually be a great idea for a VERY dramatic BTTF sequel: Marty's father and mother's relationship is withering as Marty grows older because the father starts to notice how Marty looks "very similar" to the Marty that he knew back in his time, and because of this sees his wife as a cheater. And this also causes the father to resent Marty, which destroys Marty emotionally. So Marty now has to come to a decision: 1.) Tell his parents the truth and see what happens. 2.) Hide the truth, but end up having his family ruined.
Good point. I presume his parents must have been fairly well to do in the first place. High earning parents usually have children who aspire to the same lifestyle. But Marty's father would have moved several rungs up the class ladder, from blue collar to middle class millionaire author. A big change in finances usually brings an improvement in the quality of your abode/address /accommodation..

I wonder if we should mention Marty looks identical to George's grandfather and great grandfather. Also, George himself looks exactly like his dad and also married a woman that looks like his great grandmother. What I'm saying is genetics in this universe is weird.
Could have had a DNA test
This is blowing my mind
I saw Back to the Future when first came out. And I wondered why they didn't recognize Marty. Yes it's a movie but I wonder about stuff like that.
Even after all these years, Crispin still refuses to play George.
To be contondered--->

You have to watch back to the future to understand this cutaway
You know I'm not gonna lie, this cutaway gag is pretty funny, but it would actually be a great idea for a VERY dramatic BTTF sequel:
Marty's father and mother's relationship is withering as Marty grows older because the father starts to notice how Marty looks "very similar" to the Marty that he knew back in his time, and because of this sees his wife as a cheater. And this also causes the father to resent Marty, which destroys Marty emotionally. So Marty now has to come to a decision:
1.) Tell his parents the truth and see what happens.
2.) Hide the truth, but end up having his family ruined.
Whip that boy George
Major plot hole. If Marty's father became a successful sci-fi author then they'd hardly still be living in the same house or neighbourhood 🤔
The drummer of Crowded House lived on the same street almost his whole life
The end was EPIC, no cap.
I can relate with that belt.
Felt it many times.
Why does George Mcfly sound like Paul Lynde?!
Actually a clever flashback
One problem with that is Mary was 8 when he set fire to the living room rug
Lea Thompson reprised her role as Lorraine McFly here
Great Scott.
lol Of course Marty is alike Calvin.
