    You made my day because Philtre is my 'easy reach' Shalimar and even has an aromatherapy, calming effect I find, glad you enjoy it too. Video liked🥰

    Hello Mr. Alavi. Trust u are doing fine. Blind bought this 2 weeks ago. Not disappointed at all citrusy-vanilla-light leathery (lovely) whilst the Guerlain Shalimar EDP is denser/ heavier. To my nose it is like the Chanel No. 5 L'eau (citrusy / aldehydic) to Chanel No. 5 EDP (heavy aldehyde) that sort of comparison. :) Thanks for the review of Guerlain Shalimar Philtre Eau De Parfum.

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah, yes, interesting comparison. Or maybe it’s more like No. 5 Eau Premiere. Thank you so much for watching.

      Totally agree, only I think the Philtre to the original is more like Eau Premiere to Chanel no 5 rather than L’eau since Eau première has more sophistication and complexity.

    Thank you for the review. I love Eau Premiere as an everyday version of the extrait. Sounds like this might be the same for Shalimar extrait

    Thank you, Mr. Persolaise, the original Shalimar is my absolute favourit over the decades.
    Now i want to try this flancer. It sounds beautiful.

    As it seems you appreciate geeky details about French language, I can not resist to make a precision about the word "philtre", which is different than "filtre" as "filter". The latter comes from a Latin word meaning tissue (made of wool), whereas the former has the same greek origin than "Philo" in philosophy, "love/like", hence "love potion" as someone said.
    Much more romantic than a "filtre" ;)
    Thank you for your fantastic reviews, they are my guilty pleasure to endure the beginning of the week :p

      Please don’t resist. Thank you for this! I admit, I found the ‘ph’ spelling odd, but I didn’t question it further. Thank you 🙏

    So glad you did this review! I have had my eyes on Philtre for some time now, and haven’t quite taken the plunge. In regards to previous comment about whether I am either team L’Heure Blue or Shalimar… we’ll it’s official. I am totally Team Shalimar after much testing of L’Heure Bleue. At first I thought I was both, but there was a certain note in LHB that disagreed with me and never quite settled enough for me to fall in love & enjoy it from beginning to end like I do Shalimar. ❤

      If I had to choose one, it would be Shalimar. Although I love all the classic Guerlains.

    I agree with your analogy of Shalimar. I have a beautiful bottle of the regular scent which I love and enjoy, but have never even tried any of the flankers.

    Dear Persolaise, I’m so sorry that I missed the live of this one and so glad to hear that you liked the Philtre. Also glad to hear that I was not the only one to mention the Philtre after the Millesime Tonka came out. (Though probably the only one to rant about how lovely it is on a Sunday morning. Sorry about that.) Also not sure whether I mentioned this before but the first time I smelled the Philtre, I had sprayed it on my arm not far from Chanel No 22. (The reason being that this was one of the few shops in the Netherlands that have no 22 and lack of space to spray on skin.) The combination of the two in the air was amazing. I haven’t tried this since as I still haven’t bought 22 and I know that layering is blasphemy but I remember it being exquisite. I might be wrong though. Recently I resmelled incense rose by Amouage and this time around I found it unbearably sickly sweet. So much so that I was embarrassed of having mentioned to you earlier how much I enjoyed it. Maybe this is what happens when you let yourself be educated by monsieur Persolaise.
    P.s. I was just doing some pre bedtime perfume sniffing and after wearing the EdP Habit Rouge today I was surprised to discover that the Philtre is in a way closer to Habit Rouge than the original Shalimar. It’s uncannily close to it if you turn down the sweetness button of it in your mind and make it more dense, less airy and a bit less luminous and sparkly.

      Thanks for this, Natalie. I’m really pleased to have discovered Philtre as well.

    Philtre de Parfum is my favourite version of Shalimar, due to it's citrusy lightness. It's so easy to wear. Unfortunately I have wrote with a Lady from Guerlain and she said, that this will be discontinued, still hope that's fake news, but I was never faster with buying 3 back-ups 😅

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no! Yet another discontinuation?

  • @sisterparfums

    I have it as edt and was more freshly airy but I find it too luminous and watery especially as a eau de toilette ,I should have gone for the Edp ,because it was really lacking deepness and structure and some rounded shapes … I did not liked the construction and lack of harmony . Unfortunately… but I will still try to go for EDP :)

    Actually I fell in love with this version of Shalimar, just as I had fallen in love with Shalimar Cologne a few years back. Beautiful lightness! Do you know the Cologne? I save the little I have left as much as possible... Thank you for this video and review 🤩

      Emma, I ADORE the Shalimar Cologne that came out in 2015! So easy to wear & lovely. I have a working bottle & 2 BuBs.
      TOP: Lemon, Bergamot, Lime & Grapefruit;
      HEART: Freesia, Rose, Jasmine;
      BASE: Vanilla, Orris, White Musk
