Ok so i was listening to Alt-j on a TH-cam playlist, whilst doing some work, and this song came on. I was concentrating so much on my work I thought nothing of it. But then the "good morning everyone" part played and i froze, and a pang of nostalgia hit me. For the next 3 minutes I just sat staring at my screen, all kinds of thoughts flooding my head. This song brought me to tears. It is pure art.
this happened to me while working and listening to 3WW (at "I just want to love you in my own language") I stopped and focused on the song, said to my coworker who was also listening and working: this is a good fucking song
I think it just sounds like that. You have to add in the dark secret and magical part, often their explanations and inspirations mentioned are not very deep or profound yet the lyrics are very easy to invest more and more interesting meanings into.

See you say that, but the song is actually about Gus getting beaten up by someone on Southampton Common (Hence C-O double-M-O-N) and the 'Awesome wave' of adrenaline he felt while fighting. It's a song about the thrill of violence.
