  • My name is Rüdiger Gröning. I am a kite designer from Münster, Germany.
In the last 40 years I have developed several new kites. You may have seen my "Magic Wing Kites", which fly like birds or butterflies. Some of my "Butterfly Spinners" are manufactured and distributed by Premier Kites, USA.
In this video I would like to show other kite flyers how to make a large kite with two rotors, which I call the "Big Rotor Kite".

Hello, greetings from the city of Mexico City (Iztapalapa) about a month ago I was checking how to make your kite designs, I thank you very much for your videos, of great cultural value.

      @@rudigergroning8726 🔴 What Is Islam? ⚠️
🔴 Islam is not just another religion.
🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.
🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God.
🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.
🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as:
📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4)[4] 📚
🔴 Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus.
🔵 Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him.

Hello Rudiger, how much did this kite way? Interested in how much weight a kite like this could hold. Thanks!

Hello Joe, it is a light wind kite. It can't be used as a lifter for other figures. The tractive force is only in the range of 3 kg.

Hello again Rudiger, I am working on a project with a few other Mechanical engineering student. We are working on designing a kite similar to this one with the purpose of generating electricity. We are working on putting together the underlining equations involving lift and drag to determine the optimal size and angle of the kite. Just wondering if you have any insights/ references regarding the lift and drag theory behind the performance of your design. Thanks!

Hello Joe, nice to hear from you and your project. I think, if you want to generate electrical energy, it may be best to install rotor kites near to the ground, and to connect the rotation axes of the kites directly with generators, which are located on the ground. Additional fixed connections may be necessary to lift the rotors. Usual generators are too heavy for kites, which are lifted via kite lines. Only very small generatiors may be used for such kites.
I think, it is very interesting to get some insight into the mathematics and the theories behind the action of the kites. Although I gave lectures about physicvs during my university career, I only have limited insight into aerodynamic principles of the rotorkites.
I wish you success. Take care.
      Rüdiger

Hello joe murphy, as a mechanical engineer myself I had the same idea of using this kind of kite to gain electricity. I would love to know how your project turned out. Did you get any theoretical insights or even a practical success?

I have that now! But I need to know what was the minimun wind speed for that kite.

Hi, the minimum wind speed is about 1.5 Bft.

1.5 Beaufort? Is it light-winded like a delta? Please tell it in MPH.

Anyway, mine was never want to fly at its highest at all. And the worst, it's sweeping from side to side. Any suggestions?
