This is the clearest teaching you will ever find on youtube about ZTK. Huge amount of time, energy and may be some emotions (hopefully positive ones) went into this lesson, we , the learners , are really thankful.
They're authentic. The cards that you make look like this. They don't look like something else, they look like this. When I follow your minimalist approach, and use your cards as my example, my cards can look like this too. The key differences between my cards and yours are that mine will contain my observations and reflections from my chosen source, and my cards will carry the authentic imprint of my hand. If I habitually tell myself a story of "why this won't work for me," such as "I can't read my own handwriting," I can reevaluate that story in the context of this modest set of tasks you've laid out. I don't need to make all my handwriting readable to the world, or even to myself. I only need to find a way to make marks on these few cards with enough care that I can read them. Just them. This is achievable. And I trust that you, with your deep experience of computer programming, do it this way for a good reason.
Thank you for this great series. At last a Methodist I can understand. I have one question at this stage: what is the purpose of the BIB card nickname and where will it be used?
I am glad that you find my videos understandable. The Bib Card nickname is written at the bottom of any Main Cards you make from that Bib Card. It is written on the main card to identify the source of the information.
@KathleenSpracklen the review was awesome!. How you use the checklist with the colors was amazing and better than I expected. ...,Thank you... my brain loves this😂
QUESTION: Why can’t I use both sizes of the bib cards for my notes (except the first)? Seems like I’m wasting a lot of useful space. Thanks for the great teaching, Kathleen.
@@billhonnold7271 What I've been doing on the front side (not minimalist, though) is to create bullet points to what's on the back side. This is useful when I have a number of bib cards for one book. The summary information on the front side helps me find the specific bib card. I respect frugality. I could use a bigger dose of it. Blessings.
This may be an advanced question. I just made a BIB CARD CHECKLIST main card for my ZK and a MAIN CARD CHECKLIST CARD. I think I know where they go in my ZK. I want to know where you are going to put them in your ZK. I am assuming they are Lecture Type prompts or example etc. I think you should make a video (Not in this series of course) about handling these types of cards. I know this question kind of breaks the 4th wall regarding this video. Hope you understand my question.
In the coming steps in this series you will see where they go in a Zettelkasten. Okay, when the time comes I will also share where they will go in Zeek, my Zettelkasten. Let me see if I understand your question about Lecture Type cards. Are you asking for a video on how to capture lecture notes? Please try again if I am missing the mark.
I want to start my Bible study. I read and answer questions, then go to the group. In the group, I often have light bulb moments. Should I write these down on a card too? Do I take cards to the group?

This was hands-down one of the most helpful ZK videos I’ve seen. Thank you for your hand work and excellent teaching skills
You are very welcome, Michaela. I am so happy to hear that you found it helpful for you.

Thank you, Zakaria. I am delighted that this is working for you.
I love the checklist 👏🏼. That is so helpful. Thank you for sharing 👍🏼👍🏼. Stay safe healthy and happy ✝️🇺🇸🦬🖖
The checklist was a viewer suggestion. I am so blessed to receive helpful advice from my supporters.

@@Spokenfan Thank you.
Thank you for using hand-written cards and labels in these lessons!
I'm glad you like them. Can you say what makes handwritten special for you?

Thanks for the great teaching, Kathleen.
Yes you may. I got tangled up when I tried to do that, so I stick to one side. It is up to your preference.
@ The frugal side of me rears its head when I waste things. Even a cheap index card.

By all means, do capture your light bulb moments. They are valuable right now and in the future when you stumble upon them, they will be priceless.
