I got to meet Vinnie Paul as a kid, my dad’s step brother went to school with him and Dimebag and used to jam with them before Pantera was a thing. I was wearing my Dallas Stars shirt and he talked to me about all the guys on the team. He was the nicest dude. My dad, his step brother, and Vinnie Paul have all passed away, it makes me sad, but I do have the most badass memory. I’m a Pantera fan for life obviously.

They wrote my beloved Dallas Stars’ theme and goal song “Puck Off” and we’re huge fans of and friends with that 99 championship team. Dimebag was one of the masters of simple and heavy riffs like in this song, but the dude could absolutely shred when he wanted to.
More Pantera!! Do "A New Level" or "Drag the Waters" or "Primal Concrete Sledge" or "Revolution Is My Name" next. Build up to some of their heavier stuff. I suggest you read lyrics and watch live footage to get a better sense of this band.

I was fortunate enough to see these guys live before Dimebag died. I've seen a ton of really good live metal in my life. Nothing has ever compared to seeing this song performed live. I saw Pantera in an arena that was filled with pissed off drunk assholes. The mosh pits were pretty tough for the whole show. When this song came on, shit hit the fan. Everyone started strutting around like chickens with their shoulders puffed out. Hundreds of big pissed off men stomping around. Then the pits exploded. The pits spanned the entire width of the arena floor from left to right and was probably 75-100ft deep. It's the biggest and craziest pit I've ever been in, and everyone was participating. It wasn't like those pits where some people are trying to avoid the pit and not be involved. Everyone was involved. Violence as far as the eye could see. For me, no pit has ever compared. Looking back, I don't know wtf I was doing in that pit. I should have been scared out of my mind but I enjoyed every second of it.
To TWINSTHENEWTREND, Pantera's Guitarist, Dimebag Darrell, who was murdered on stage at this club, was given the original black and yellow bumble bee guitar by Eddie Van Halen himself back in 2004 at his funeral in which Dime is buried with it.
