really appreciate that instead of just using my culture as an aesthetic by wearing bindis or mehendi like most artists today, they took the effort to properly incorporate the music and dance style into their own.
First I'd like to say that I like them a lot but they sorta butchered the lyrics part, the words are used in a weird way (should've involved an actual indian person in the process)
Apporv Kishlay i mean they're Japanese, they really can't pronounce some words the right way be cause of the wide gap between both languages
@@Eden19867 I'm not talking about the pronunciation, for eg accha isn't used in the context that they have used it in, plus a lot of it sounds more like arabic music than Indian
@@apporvkishlay i mean you can make the same argument when any japanese band incorporates english words. Its literally broken english but hey at least they try

I'm so happy that such artists exist who made song on "Shanti" after understanding it and with its real meaning, doing actual semi classical choreography ! Thank you so much Babymetal !!!
Su's voice has become so impressively versatile! Love the mix on this one, now that I can finally hear the official audio.
I know right, elevator girl in English, the mixers made her voice so auto tuned
@@fazsum41 I'm more upset at the fact that they've all but removed the original Japanese version from all streaming sources, including the final mix for the album. Like, the song is good but the English lyrics really feel forced as opposed to the Japanese
@@lukesomerville6603 So glad i've downloaded the Japanese version, in time...
@@lukesomerville6603 that's good marketing if you ask me! Most average consumers that pick up the album as new fans may prefer to hear more english if they're from the states. Japan still has a huge CD market, so theyre making as much money as they can, and appealing to their international fame

Indian metal - not just a culture grab, but authentic metal fusion. And the result? Simply, wonderfully, astounding! When Babymetal stated that they wanted to create a Metal Galaxy, they really meant it.
"How much kaleidoscope effects do you want?"

Still not sure if I like or dont like the band. On one hand the instrumentals tend to be above average to great, on the other, these "clichee J-pop" voices.....

A fusion of J-pop, Bollywood, and heavy metal music
Diversity is nice
bruv that basically what I commented lmfao u just copied me lmfaoooooooooo
There's nothing Bollywood about this song.. And thats good.. Cause they've taken influences from ancient indian music called raga
Su metal lung capacity is INCREDIBLE like she can dance and then go back to singing in seconds
It’s more training. Japanese idol companies train their idols-to-be, and Su had IMPRESSIVE technical skills (breathe control, voice control, passage singing control) since she was 13. I guess they’ve never stopped training, and if she excelled in technique at age 13, we are only seeing what striving for perfect technique plus 15 years of live experience get you.
When I saw them live and heard this for the first time, I knew it was gonna be one of my favorites in the new album. I’m so happy they finally released it!
I saw it live in new york and it was amazing! I imediately went home and tried to look for it after but then learned it wasnt out yet. Everyone seemed to love it, it has such great vibes

They are really unique in that regard. I wonder what would happen if say, they teamed up with Devin Townsend? Lol. Nothing would be out of bounds.
This is not Indian music, This is middle eastern. The lyrics are about indian stuff. Go listen to indian music and middle eastern music. The beat is different, the instruments used in this song are also middle eastern. Beat and melody are middle eastern, arabic.
@@ボルト-v6k It's kind of both. Thousands of years of cultural exchange and shifting borders led to many similarities regarding style, rhythm, instrumentation and theme. You'll find some of those elements everywhere from Greece in the north-west to Egypt and Yemen in the south and India in the east and probably beyond. They are blowing the doors off stereotyped metal , and rolling a hand grenade in. Who would have thought this band would be mainstreaming metal when they started out. Im not purchasing their album because its quirky, that shits gone...im purchasing this because its a genre gamechanger!. Well done girls, well done indeed.
They have always been a game changer and have been fighting the system all along. That's pretty metal for three small girls.
They have always given some different touch to the music.
PS Still there are some other metal bands that gave some Indian style to them music (but maybe not this much)
@@Sabre_Wulf1 Well, metal cannot necessarily be simply defined by words and it's fine if you want to call this metal. But to me it sounds more like EDM/pop than anything else, based on the song structure, 4-on-the-floor style of beats, and use of sampled/synthesized drums/percs and synth leads/bass, etc. There aren't even real drums or bass guitar in this track and electric guitars are the only instruments you would hear in 'metal' music. Musically speaking, there is nothing reminiscent of metal in terms or riffs, chords or song structure at all, either. You could argue that there's no such thing as "true" metal riffs/chords/structure but to me, just like Beatles or Britney Spears don't sound metal, this song just doesn't. And I cringed when I heard that snare sample at 1:27 cause it's by far the most commonly used and overplayed 'pre-drop' sample ever in EDM. Just my thought.
When they played in Chicago, this song was the highlight of the concert. I nearly cried watching them because how beautiful their voices were (not to mention the choreography is perfect). Hearing the studio version of the song makes my ears happy. Easily my favorite Babymetal song now. ♥️
Not really, I was there at that concert in Chicago people like you need to stop telling fails stories.

Anyone else get the impression that as big as they are now, they are about to take it to a new level with Metal Galaxy? Cant believe the quality of the new songs, the choreography seems tighter, and Su is just a force of nature now.
With how they were able to penetrate into the western market, I believe this might just be the push they need.

Dang. Su-metal's vocals feel like national treasure material.
As a Indian the first time I listen to their music video I love them 🤘:) I think metal is now my second favorite music type

Su can sing EVERY style, she is amazing!
People here are appreciating Babymetal for incorporating Indian inspired music into their song, some other fandoms would've called this "cultural appropriation" and disrespectful. Im glad at least you people enjoy some good music and aren't some stuck up people.
Are people out there that really thinks this is cultural appropriation?. Lmao!
this isn't cultural appropriation because they actually used the Indian influence not as an aesthetic but as an appreciation.
It's not appropriation if you use the style properly. I'm Indian and proud of the girls
This really wouldn't happen to you of you took the two seconds it takes to find out what cultural appropriation is.
Anusha San there’s a difference between cultural appropriation and appreciation and these girls are appreciating it. Appropriating is still a really big problem though and fetishation of cultures
クオリティが高すぎるわ。このレベルまでなるとは正直思っていなかった。YUIちゃんの件でしばらく離れてしまったけど、二人は強かった。国内は比較できるレベルは無いわ、ぶっ飛んだクオリティ。
I never thought I would like this type this music,I was so fucking wrong
It is confirmed, Su metal can handle any type of singing style perfectly.
she's so fucking cool
And to think she started out as a High School Idol singing bubblegum pop
I have been listening to BMC. yes she can do it all.
I think there’s one member who sings
