i have 2 cats like hairbear are you able to brush her at all mine are indoors but they tend to get matted. they can build up some big ones to the point we had to shave them since they don't like to be brushed. I also have an orange guy like scoots not blind though he 's my clown but also very smart.

Also cats skin is very thin so if you do cut her hair must be very careful not to cut them.

I don't brush her. She tends to look after that coat herself, same with Fergus & Ginger. Fergus is outside most of the time, even at night, again, same with other two. I watched Scoots go further up the slope, & was amazed how quickly he picked up on where he was, scent. So clever.

I believe it varies with the long-haired cat. A friend has two ragdolls: a white male blue point one (white and gray) and female seal point mink (tan and brown). The boy has a tendency to become matted and needs to be shaved. His fur is very fine and silky. The girl very seldom get mats. Her hair is more coarse than his. It also doesn't help he like to get wet if he has the chance. Very true about the thin skin. It is very difficult to remove mats without professional help. It does help to be very proactive with brushing and eliminating mats before they get big. But be very careful.
