I bought my LNL AP back when they first came out in 08'-09'. I experienced this problem. I am a machinist by trade, so drills/taps are a dime a dozen. I drilled a perpendicular hole for a 8-32 tap size through the casting and slightly in to the bushing and tapped the frame for a set screw to make a locking mechanism for the bushing. That holds it solid and solved the problem. Hornady should have taken care of this. The retaining plate is an awesome Idea, thanks for the Aftermarket save/design.

Nobody knows the Hornady LnL better than Randall. And the tools he makes to fine tune the operation. A lot of people hate this AP because they don't know how to operate it. I just spend my time working it until I'm happy. It's not rocket science. But you nailed it just to do the fine tuning.
I had a Dillon X650 along side the LnL. The LnL is set use for 9mm. I sold the Dillon to a friend of mine. I used it to do 45 ACP. The Dillon takes a while longer if I want to do caliber changes. The LnL takes a lot less time. But now I had to purchase the 45 ACP Pawl adjustment. I got the kit that has the powder lock down because, yea I have had the same problem but caught it early enough. Just a pain in the rear. No longer. Thank you Randall

Like any infomercial, the problem is being exaggerated. The little bit of wobble won't change the accuracy of the powder drops. Adding this device defeats the quick change option so it's a no-go for me, but someone that doesn't change calibers frequently might not care as much.
I have had the powder drop come loose on a long run, I learned that rotating it firmly will prevent that.

If you aren't having the issue then you are correct, it isn't for you but for those that do have the issue it's a life saver. Considering we have sold over 1800 of them evidently there are a lot of people actually having an issue which makes your comment of making a problem exaggerated very subjective.

A very useful tool, for powder drop trouble.
I've shut off this trouble with a spring, a Inox wire and a métallic plate.

That is a neat fix. But, don't you have the problem with cases tilting inwards when they index to the fifth station so that the case mouth collides with the mouth of the crimp die? I have that with both of my ap's, because the caseretaining spring dives underneath the rim of the case on the outside when the case indexes to station five, and that lifts the outside of the case a little so that it tilts inwards.. Really annoying problem.

I have a question, I definitely see the benefit of this plate, but how does it affect my ability to switch powder drop lower halves, I have one set up for each pistol caliber that I load, this looks like it had to be threaded on each time I change loads. Can it still be turned the 60 degrees needed to remove the lower half once all the dies and light are removed?

You would need to screw them in and out, I have several of them myself and I simply leave my lock ring tight and screw them in and out to the lock ring setting. The plates fit very snug to the top of the press and the inserts in the press stick up slightly above the surface which prevents you from being able to twist them out like you mentioned. The benefit of what the plate does to stabilize the powder drop and increase accuracy by eliminating the excess movement as its working out weighs the extra 30 seconds of manually screwing it in and out. Hope this helps

How about letting us see if it actually works. You pulled the handle and showed us the wobble before your tool but you never showed the difference after you installed it.

The wobble only happens when the insert loosens against the press housing. Because this tool prevents the insert from rotating, there's no "lack of wobble" to see... it would look just like it did before he demonstrated the wobble. If you have an LNL-AP, the solution makes sense with what the video shows.
