There’s a reason we still go back and listen to these icons. Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix… all artists that defined their era and ones gone far too soon. The impact remains timeless and their music is relevant til this day. That’s what happens when you sing from the soul.
74 year old musician from Southern California area, I'm now living in Arizona. I was lucky to see her many times. I saw her at the Rose Bowl. She played in between Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention and blew them away. Guys in the crowd were screaming " I love you Janis". " I want to marry you ". Every part of her oozed pure emotion. She lived a full life in her 27 years. RIP. ❤❤❤❤❤
I’m so fortunate to have been able to see Janis 3 times. Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Winterland in San Francisco & Monterey Pop Festival. She was one of a kind & I still adore her. Was just listening to her for hours yesterday. She will always be Remembered & Loved by everyone❤
I, recently, lost my most prized possession.... a Janis album I'd had since I was 14. It was from, before she became famous. And, if you think her voice was RAUNCHY and RAW...... you should hear her BEFORE she "refined" her talent. "Soul-ripping" is an understatement.❤
@@ToddRye The place that refused to memorialize her because she used, and ultimately died of a heroin overdose. Saying "We don't want our children to emulate her"
It deeper than that. They tormented her all through school, and that was mostly because she wasn’t a racist in the segregated south. Society evolves though, and now she’s honored at the Museum of the Gulf Coast.
I love her blues. It is a shame she died lonely. Loneliness can push some of us to that point to where you decide FUCK IT I can't take the pain any longer. Been there done that. A very dark place to be. Miss your personality Janis.

As a child I listened to Janis and loved her I embodied what I thought she stood for I did this throughout my life I wish I wouldn't have made it past 27
Today we listened again to your most beautiful pieces, now etched in our memories. You always warmed our hearts, Janis, may you sing your inexhaustible voice forever!
She sings to angles. We lost. Our Queen. Absolutely brilliant performance. In Oshawa Ontario Canada at the Regent Theater o November 12/23 Joplin meets Hendrix Absolutely brilliant performance.Thank all involved.
Cuando la escucho, a veces pienso todo lo que podría haber hecho si hubiera vivido más. Era toda una innovadora, con un talento y una voz excepcionales. Y esa vida tan difícil que tuvo... 😭
I have often wondered if people hadn't been mean to her, might she have not turned to the drug that killed her? Their few minutes of making fun of her broke her heart... and that is the pain she was trying to numb with heroin. Such a tragedy. She was not only a magnificent musician, she was also a beautiful woman... but I don't think she ever knew that.
lovely Janus ❤ I always wanted to see her as I lived in the Haight for a while never did see her but, thought she was a beautiful , & funny person totally a cool person. wish I could have been with her when she shot that fatal dose because I saved a lot of friends who overdosed. That would have been the best thing ever. ❤❤❤❤
She's in the 27 Club with Jim Morrison, Jimmie Hendrix, Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain... Janis Joplin was an amazing vocalist, her version of Ball and Chain at Monterey is great. JazzyT.
A Group of us in 3 cars went to her concert in Boston in a F***ing Blizzard. 2 cars got stuck in the snow. So all 3 car loads came in my 4wd clown car style with several fat joints going. Janis was slugging Jack Daniels on stage and we loved the show. AWSOME

Janis must've been in emotional pain if she needed heroin. Apparently she was surviving for 27 years.
It's Janis. Janis Joplin
