My recommendation, based on how I have made decent money in Game in the past, is to take contracts, where you borrow all the equipment, because usually it’s a very small hit to the overall payout. Then, you hire AI to do all the work for you. You can have three contracts running in base game at one time. Even using workers to do all of that, ultimately, you will make a profit. And by borrowing all the equipment from the farmer, you’re working for, you aren’t increasing the wear and tear on your own equipment. And, you then have time to work on whatever you want to work on while your workers are making you money.
Best bet for this idea is to do multiple of the same contracts at the same time but borrow from the cheapest contract. Less "rental" costs, while being able to use the borrowed equipment for all the contracts. However, I might also suggest using one of the several mods that allows more active contracts than the base game allows.
Thanks for the great tip! This is actually a really smart strategy - borrowing the equipment eliminates the maintenance costs and initial investment, while still letting you profit from the contracts. I especially like the idea of running multiple AI workers simultaneously to maximize efficiency. Going to give this approach a try as I build up my farm. Do you have any specific contract types you've found to be particularly profitable using this method?
Henry Ford supposedly said "If the customers were allowed to decide, they'd have asked for a faster horse instead of an automobile". Sometimes, the consumer doesn't really know what they want aside from quality content. As long as you're passionate and inspired about what you're playing or creating, it's going to be quality. And conversely, if you end up forcing your way along while hating every moment, the quality won't be there.
Cotton is only reasonably affordable with the Colossus Harvesters Pack...which is a tad unrealistic (er, ok, very unrealistic). The Cotton Harvester is probably the best for realism, since the base settings are just the Deere version with paint change and only 200k vs. 800k.
I suggest 1 day per month at 3x speed, since the series is gonna need to be a lot of years to get to 1 billion. Just hire a lot of workers to get everything done in 1 day (some months you can do 1x or 0.5x if needed). I just would like to avoid having multiple videos on the same month, cause it gets a bit boring, just hire a lot, it re-pays easily
I like to play 5x speed with two days in a month. I feel like it gives me the opportunity to take on larger projects, or multiple projects without really slowing down progression.
HA stands for hectars, which is the area of 100m x 100m which is a nice round 10000 m² ❤ The acre Americans use is about 4000 m² so each acre is 40 % of an hectar
I like the idea of sticking with silage, since it will feed your animals also. Those baling contracts always netted you bonus cash from extra bales in the last series, and they're easy. A mower, windrower, baler, and the baling trailer would be the extent of the equipment you'd need to own and your current tractor would handle anything in that respect you threw at it.
Hey Pickle. Fertilizing contracts are very profitable. If you press B on and off while fertilizing you will still get the contract fulfilled while using only a fraction of the fertilizer. Also, contracts in general are profitable, since you can have AI doing the work while you focus on other stuff.
i gotta say with this series, as much as i enjoy it we gotta be real with ourselves, 31 episodes in you didn't even have 200K in the bank, you're never going to get to $1 billion if you don't either; A) use generators extensively or B) get a lot of other players involved to help work the land with you. no matter how much land you buy there's only so much work one man can do in a real world hour, you're gonna hit a wall on exponential growth and be grinding thousands of hours, which you'd surely get tired of before you even get to 100 million, nevermind 1 billion. even if you somehow made 1 million every single hour you'd be spending 1000 hours on this, and i can promise you there's no way you even make that 1 million every single hour when you're working alone and without generators. in my opinion if you want to commit to this series (which i would be very happy about) you gotta get a good group of players together to run the farm with you, maybe from your discord server or some of your own personal friends. obviously to make real use of multiple players you'll first need to get the capital together for the land and equipment which means you could continue solo for a while, but as you make money you'd reinvest it into everything you need for a new player one by one, with enough people you'd cut down the time this will take massively, potentially into the low hundreds of hours rather than thousands. i worry if you don't do something like that this series is just dead in the water, based on your rate in the "first season" we'll be on episode 155,000 by the time you reach $1 billion
Just more content for us :) I'm not too worried about progressing the series, I just like watching it happen. Do I think we'll make it all the way to a billion? No. Do I enjoy watching Pickle while he pretends to farm? Absolutely.
@@Wodfamchocsod4 it can still be a long series without NEVER ending, the whole point of the series is the end goal so it will be dissatisfying if it ends without reaching it
You could use this leasing mod. It makes game a bit easier but it's much more enjoyable and it's kinda satisfying when you lease piece of equipment for some time and finally make money to buy it of
Love the fields you bought, that’s my favorite place to start. I think you should stay away from land flipping, it’s just not a realistic practice. I like 1 day months at 5x speed but honestly don’t think it matters for you to variable the speed. I’d really love for you to attempt to make your farm aesthetic. When placing your home and generators and pens and what not, just be conscious of aesthetic. The chicken coop was awkwardly crammed in last time, I think it’d be great to have an episode every once and a while where you work on aesthetics, like maybe taking out some trees by the pond and building your house there, maybe putting in a driveway, etc. Love that the series is back, here’s to a fresh start. Cheers.🍻
In my humble opinion regarding rules: 1. No solar panel strat allowed, solar panels are allowed just not to the point where everyday you get enough money to buy another one (hopefully this makes sense). 2. Regarding time speed, I don't see an issue on you fast forwarding depending on what you want to do. Playing in a fixed speed lets say 5x can be painfully slow some times. Those are my to rules lol, I don't have more ideas. But as a viewer i don't really care that much tbh. imo just play the game where it feels fun to do it and not a painful task. I will watch regardless lol. edit: for example, mods like super strength just to pick up heavy things without having to use a forklift or something, i wouldn't count that as cheating, it just a quality of life improvement but that's just me cause i get how some people can see that as cheating.
i think you should get better contracts mod you can also do contracts and the more you do the more discounts you get on land they own by doing contracts.
Thanks for these videos! I am new to Farming Simulator and I have enjoyed watching your videos. I am also watching your series with your dad. Those are also fun because I feel like I am learning more with insights from your dad. I harvested sugar beets for real. I would love to see some content with that if you can.
On those fertilizing contracts, when you've got just a sliver left, hit them from a 90 degree angle from where you have been. Line up on them, you only have to pull forward a little bit while spraying, it'll waste so much less fertilizer
I’d say you can skip ahead to harvest but no skipping years for passive income. Every setting on minus field stones. My favorite for a fun play-through. I think the only thing that can really kill this play-through is huge time skips for income. The exception would be once you’ve really just hit a point where all your doing is grinding through years with no real major change to content ei you own all or nearly all fields and have some of the best most efficient equipment then I think skipping years would be completely understandable and a good way to end it.
Red beet equipment are in vegetable equipment not with sugarbeet if I'm not mistaken And if you want to make money on fertilizing contract you should drop the rate that you apply to the minimum And transforming the wool if you go the sheep way is a good idea Love the serie by the way 😊
Hi! FYI 11:10 , abbreviation HA is not Hecta-acre, it's hectare. The hectare (/ˈhɛktɛər, -tɑːr/; SI symbol: ha) is a non-SI metric unit of area equal to a square with 100-metre sides, that is, 10,000 square meters (10,000 m2). Thank you for your content ❤
1.) I think you should do one day a month. Who really uses more than one. 2.) speed should be variable to allow you to produce factory (I.e. places you own for canola, bakery, spinners) that way you see a return on investment. That way between crops you are still collecting money. 3.) I think if you buy a field it has to be empty. That way you’re not wasting crops that is lost money. Because otherwise you should have to rent stuff to harvest the field if it is full
Is there a reason to harvest the crops in your fields? You will be spending money to lease the equipment. Will you actually recoop that vs just wipe the crops and start your grass?
a tip im doing and its giving me good amount of money is i start a contract for harvesting and when i harvest all the stuff i cancel the contract (you lose money yes) but you can keep and sell the product when the best deal is for double the price (because the contract sell is 100% on a bad deal price)
Make sure you get the right beet harvester! The ones in beet technology are for sugar beet and the one in vegetable technology are for red beet, parsnips, and carrots
I'm trying the same challenge, I went with the same field and the one under it. Started with 10 greenhouses next to the guys house, leased a water tank to fill them. Planted stone pine on marginal land for chipping. Bought fields to the left and above aggressively when my harvest coincided. Saved for the gas plant, had a massive corn silage harvest ready to go. Need about 2.4 million to fill it for a year. 4 of the 45 cattle sheds on the little field above you for manure and silage for gas. And need about 240k beets a year to keep that full+extra can be chopped and sold for good £££. All in the gas plant earns 3 million a year fully stocked. Seasons on crops of choice oats into canola, corn for forage, sugar beets for chopping and grass for hay. Started out with the first John Deere in the large category and the cheapest one that can have a front loader.
You should download the orchard and greenhouse mod that adds extra plants such as plums, apples, apricots, pears, and also extra greenhouse plants like cucumbers, and watermelons ect. The mod also adds a compost feature so you can also do some grass work to make it also. Hope my input helped 😄
since you said before generators makes earning money easy yet boring I think you should try limiting the save to a 5 generator max (or some other number)
I love that you’ve tackled this again! And you’re already doing much better because you aren’t blowing your entire bank in one go on one thing. But please please don’t focus on just silage and soybeans. I know grass is for animals, but it’s all I ever see and it’s so boring.
The land is measured in hectares (HA) which is 2.47 acres (British imperial measurement) per 1 HA. it’s what we use to measure land in metric. I think it’s French for 100 ares which is 10,000 square metres
Way too many days in my opinion, the series is gonna need to be over a lot of years, if he does 4 days per months it's gonna take ages. Just do 1 day at 3x speed and use a lot of workers to get a lot done per day, at least in my opinion
you should consider using a forage harvester and turn the corn into silage, they're extremely profitable and you can use silage to feed animals if you get into cattle as well
Something that could be really cool would be to make a mostly self sustaining farm until it becomes unbearable. Have your two massive fields of grass to start, and your animals, then begin to do a grain or oat or something to feed your animals. Maybe something to try out, weigh out the finances and see what you think!
Any vegetable harvester with crates makes like $50 on the crates when you sell the crop….so it’s hard to lose money on root crops between the volume and the free containers. The carrots/beets/parsnips are like sugar beet and potatoes in being the highest profit crops but the trade off is time.
The kubota M7 series is actually a pretty good general utility tractor, like a chore tractor for spraying and carting seeds and fertilizer around, grass work. I found the kubota equipment pack about the time I got the DLC, it’s actually pretty handy because you can color all the attachments for about any brand of tractor. Not a lot of streamers seem to use the kubota tractors for some reason. I’m biased though having a barn with some orange in it IRL.
Oh I hear you lol I grew up on Kubota and John Deere, with a little Case here and there. We've hand numerous small and large Kubota's and they are fantastic!
@@TheFormalPickle My favorite is our Massey Ferguson 265, and not just because I’m the 4th generation owner of it, really easy and cheap to work on is the fastest way to a farmers heart. 😅
@@Samueras That’s my kind of math. Just like how Pi is basically just three. Even if you are dealing with absurd numbers, it’s within a very small margin of error. Maybe not necessarily for actually building some thing, but the difference between three and 3.1415 on a circle 10,000 feet across, is 1415 feet for the diameter. I will say it again. Just shy of 1500 feet, on a circle 30,000 feet in perimeter. Or a ,argon of error of just shy of 5%. Maybe that isn’t good enough for building, but it’s certainly good enough for some thing like walking the perimeter of that circle.
If you have only a narrow strip remaining to fertilize you could use the option to reduce the spray to the middle sections. You even clicked on it but I think you got fixated on trying to completely turn off one side.
If you turn off Automatic application and reduce the application to minimum, your produce will go further in the sprayer. Just saying. You need to turn on the automatic application when doing your own.
When you were resizing the spray pattern the blue marks on the info panel upper left were resizing to let you know. The sprayer shuts off from the ends toward the center closer to the tractor.
If you’re allowing a couple mods in this series there is a claas jaguar chopper available that can harvest corn wheat barley grass soybeans oats sorghum and it only cost 60k or there is a pull behind John Deere grass harvester for 28k so silage is easy and profitable if you allow a couple mods
Jake, the beat technology that you looked at is for sugar beet, not red beet. Red beet falls under vegetable technology. Edit: Additionally, I know the PF sprayer with See and Spray is super pricey, it does the half side shut off automatically for you, even when running fertilizer on contracts. So it will eventually end up saving you money in wasted product, but I haven’t done the math on exactly how much savings it provides and how long it takes to pay it back.
@@TheFormalPickleJIC you don’t see my edit, the See and Spray does the partial side shut off you were talking about automagically. I don’t know if it’s enough of a savings on product used to offset the $35k cost I thought I saw, but it’s definitely worth it if you start taking the weed spraying contracts.
Also, one mod that I like, but that has a serious, SERIOUS potential to be game breaking, is Better Contracts. It allows you to filter the contracts you see to the type you want to do, and it’ll give you more detail on what exactly is needed to complete a contract. Like harvesting, it shows you how much you have to deliver, fertilizing it tells you about how much product you need to apply. BUT! The game breaking comes from the mod settings. You can increase payouts, increase number of contracts you can have going at once, you can reduce how much product has to be delivered by percentages. Down to as low as like 65-70% of the total harvest. In addition, you can set it so the land sell prices go down based on how many contracts you’ve done for the farmer in question. That said, all of those can be left at default and you just use it for the additional info, which is what I would recommend if you added it to this playthrough.
a good play rule ... now that you have your starter vehicles ... no more purchases until you get back over 1m .... your home animal concern are buyable but again once bought.... no more buying until you exceed 1m ... that way you have a decent purchase buffer ... and working buffer ... an are forced to be stingy with your cash and a go getter for outside work ... no LEASING is NOT buying ... lease to own IS buying
Play how you wanna play, if you wanna do a poll and let people vote for your suggestions then do that. I play with 7 days a month @ 5x speed when I play on any difficulty. Love the videos
You should really give a chance for eggs they made me millionaire no cap just give them time and when you buy a stocker will be easy way for transportation
So you put a front tank on the tractor to carry more product. Something that only does one function. Why not put a front end loader on and you can carry product to the field and you are going to need a front end loader for bales and moving wool.
I like the decision to make your own calls rather than outsourcing most ideas from suggestions. Personally I think it makes for more enjoyable videos. It's been fun following your challenge and seeing how it differs from my own broke to billionaire series thus far, good luck on the fresh start!

The metric HA is hectare (pronounced Heck-t-air) in English
I love that you’ve tackled this again! And you’re already doing much better because you aren’t blowing your entire bank in one go on one thing.
But please please don’t focus on just silage and soybeans. I know grass is for animals, but it’s all I ever see and it’s so boring.
Longer seasons will be important when you're working a few dozen fields.
21:41 This is a very old comment bit what mod is that that shows you the field completion on the map in the lower left hand corner
Thank you for restarting. The other season was a mess ngl lol
The land is measured in hectares (HA) which is 2.47 acres (British imperial measurement) per 1 HA. it’s what we use to measure land in metric. I think it’s French for 100 ares which is 10,000 square metres
Time scale 5X days per month 4. one day = 1 week
Way too many days in my opinion, the series is gonna need to be over a lot of years, if he does 4 days per months it's gonna take ages. Just do 1 day at 3x speed and use a lot of workers to get a lot done per day, at least in my opinion
@filippocarletti3352 it would allow him to scale up so he dosent have to rush everything. Keep in mind one of the goals is to buy the map.
Hi Pickle
I thought it would be best to get lots of chickens and get the mayonnaise mod
you should consider using a forage harvester and turn the corn into silage, they're extremely profitable and you can use silage to feed animals if you get into cattle as well
Something that could be really cool would be to make a mostly self sustaining farm until it becomes unbearable. Have your two massive fields of grass to start, and your animals, then begin to do a grain or oat or something to feed your animals. Maybe something to try out, weigh out the finances and see what you think!
Awesome video pickle !!
Hectares is what HA stands for. its roughly 2.5 acres per hectare. hectares is metric, while acres is an imperial measurement
Any vegetable harvester with crates makes like $50 on the crates when you sell the crop….so it’s hard to lose money on root crops between the volume and the free containers. The carrots/beets/parsnips are like sugar beet and potatoes in being the highest profit crops but the trade off is time.
20:44 is there a airvent blowing on the cupholder for no particular reason NOICE
add the extended oil factory mod get into oil production, and transport contracts mod and the DEF mod
6x and 2 days a mo
Oooooo a reset. Do you think I should keep going from 30? Or should I reset to day 1. Anyway for now I will say day 1 of saying love this NEW series!
Nah, just keep going. This is really just a continuation, not really a total reset.
@@Wodfamchocsod4 ok thanks! i will continue
@@TheFormalPickle
My favorite is our Massey Ferguson 265, and not just because I’m the 4th generation owner of it, really easy and cheap to work on is the fastest way to a farmers heart. 😅
The hector acres are 2.14 something something acres
It is 2.47 so about 2.5 acres per Hektar.
@@Samueras same thing
@@blackmoon8459 I totally agree with that.
If you have only a narrow strip remaining to fertilize you could use the option to reduce the spray to the middle sections. You even clicked on it but I think you got fixated on trying to completely turn off one side.
Your Red Beet needs to be harvested with Vegetable Technology (or a modded sugar beet harvester that can also do carrot/red beet/parsnip).
Also utilise lease to buy! Last time spent so much in buying equipment 😊
3x speed and 3 days per month
That’s what I was thinking
If you’re allowing a couple mods in this series there is a claas jaguar chopper available that can harvest corn wheat barley grass soybeans oats sorghum and it only cost 60k or there is a pull behind John Deere grass harvester for 28k so silage is easy and profitable if you allow a couple mods
Love the vids
Jake, the beat technology that you looked at is for sugar beet, not red beet. Red beet falls under vegetable technology.
Edit: Additionally, I know the PF sprayer with See and Spray is super pricey, it does the half side shut off automatically for you, even when running fertilizer on contracts. So it will eventually end up saving you money in wasted product, but I haven’t done the math on exactly how much savings it provides and how long it takes to pay it back.
I figured that out lol thankfully no money spent!
Great idea to start over. I'm on year 15 all equipment is modded, I owe half the map, but I'm only on 60mil.
How does your mini map show what is being fertilized?
Excuse my ignorance but how did you get the minimap to show fertilzation?
Hard economy
3 days
5x speed
Fast dirt
Fast fuel
Those are the settings I use
That McCormick is a nice tractor. I got the same one
BRO turn the wool into fabric and fabric into clothes and you will make millions easily

What mod do you use that expands the Used Vehicle section???
How often are the videos coming out for this new season ? 🎉
Do you still have you’re public server

How much will the Man from Madison County spend on his quest to make 1 Billion?
Love your contant keep it up
Play how you wanna play, if you wanna do a poll and let people vote for your suggestions then do that. I play with 7 days a month @ 5x speed when I play on any difficulty. Love the videos
How many votes did you get
You should really give a chance for eggs they made me millionaire no cap just give them time and when you buy a stocker will be easy way for transportation
So you put a front tank on the tractor to carry more product. Something that only does one function. Why not put a front end loader on and you can carry product to the field and you are going to need a front end loader for bales and moving wool.
We will, when it’s time.
Just put as many Government municipality signs on your land as you can 😂 boom. 999,999,999 in 1 day
what mod tracks the years?
