This is great, adding to my routine today! My back pain is improving but I think this was the piece I was missing. Also, congratulations to Joelle and Joelle on your engagement! 😆
I am so glad that I found this. I drive for a living, and have been having horrible pain right in my left hip from all the driving. I have been getting deep tissue massages which alleviate the pain but it always comes back. This week, the pain was so bad it was even causing my shin to have a dull ache. I started doing this before every shift, when I wake up, and in between drives, and it has made an AMAZING difference in the past couple of days. I still have a deep tissue massage this week, but this has helped me tremendously. Subscribed and hoping to incorporate more yoga into my life.
Joelle. First of all GREAT VIDEO (editing and skeletally shown with the tendons ) very nice. Next, you showed exactly what I do( deep lunges which pulled and taking a long time to heal) what you have in this video will help me through it. Great Job 🎉
Thanks so much, Joelle! You are a mind reader 😀. I was actually going to message you about my persistent back pain and tight hip flexors, so this is very well timed. I’ll try it and let you know how it goes. ❤️
My physiotherapist is giving me the 'knee up and down' strengthening but I was missing some variations on warming up and lunging statics afterwards. Thanks Joelle
Dear Joelle, I just love all your exercises and good advice. Regarding the hip circles, would they be affective the same way if I do them while holding the knee with one hand? I have one bad hip (post labral tear) and it's hard for me to do circles with it without the support of the hand.
This is witchcraft. I’ve been desperately trying to figure out what was wrong with my lower back as it worsened. I do this once and I find relief. Bless you. You saved my back.
Thank you! I'm curious, does this mean that you would no longer recommend long lunges for anyone or just those suffering from psoas pain? For example, I was using one of your other wonderful (older) videos, and you did a lunge, came up to put the arms in a cactus shape, and turned to one side, then the other. Is this a stretch you would now modify because of this info about the psoas, or only if one was suffering from psoas pain? Thanks for your videos, you're truly helping me so much with mindful movement and peaceful breathing.
Good question! There are certainly situations where long lunges can be a great option, but it's not what I'd recommend if the psoas is tight or painful - the steps in this video are much more likely to be effective! 😉

Thanks so much for your kind words! Feel free to adapt any exercise to make it work for you, that sounds like a wonderful alternative!
Great video Joelle 😊
So glad you liked it!
@@YogawithJoelle Thanks. It can be quite easy for me to do the poses wrong then can feel my back be very sore and have to work on my lunge!
Good advice!😊
Glad it was helpful 😊
Loved this ❤️
Thank you so much!
Painful arthritis in my knees so those lunges with all that pressure on inflamed knees: not fun😮
A shorter lunge should definitely help! And you can always place a towel or small cushion underneath to soften things further 😉

I'm so glad this was helpful!
Thank you for the video.😊 Can this practice be done if one currently has bursitis in both hips?
You're welcome! Strengthening the psoas is a great idea if you're suffering from bursitis.

Glad to hear that you found this helpful!
