Growing up in a different part of the world, my fave 80s movies kinda differ but anyway, I want to give shout out to Maurice, directed by James Ivory. LGBT movie like this in the 80s? Iconic. Then I also want to shout out Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, directed by Nagisa Oshima. I can't believe a war movie like this exists. And lastly, my two favourite locals...Perinbaba (The Feather Fairy), the quintessential dark Christmas classic and Sedím na konári a je mi dobre (Sitting on a branch, enjoying myself), weird but lovable found family trope, both directed by a legendary Slovak director Juraj Jakubisko (RIP).
