  • YOUR GOLDILOCKS SOUNDBAR? | Sony HT-A3000 Review | Dolby Atmos | DTS X | 360 Real Audio
    It's here! The new HT-A3000 soundbar from Sony is the smallest in its line of premium soundbars, but still packs a punch! And it even uses the same 360 Spatial Sound Mapping tech found in the flagship HT-A9 system, as long as its paired with the RS3S or RS5 surrounds. I even listened to some music in 360 Real Audio for the first time, so check out this action-packed video for all the details!

    Compare to HT-X8500?

  • @skydancerforever

    This is exactly what i been waiting for besides a smaller subwoofer for the Sonos Beam??? The fact you can use the wireless atmos rears and it has the mapping features is perfect. I do have a Sony Bravia OLED TV with E-arc so thats a plus. Now how will this compare to the Sonos beam, rear one SL's and gen 3 subwoofer?

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh nice! Probably worth it to go all Sony since you have a Bravia OLED. I still think the Beam was better with dialog clarity and music reproduction, but the Sony setup was more cinematic overall.

    Hey Ealan, After watching hours of your content I had a few questions.
    Is there a reason why you didn't include sony soundbars in your previous videos of the soundbars buying guide?
    Considering how easy it is to upgrade this sony HT series with a subwoofer and rear speakers how would you compare it with the dedicated receiver setup? Any benefits of receiver setup over soundbar or vice versa?

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for diving into my archive! :) After many failed attempts, I finally got an "in" with Sony recently for reviewing some of their products, and the A3000 was the first go-round. But also, yeah - I could've included Sony's line of soundbars, but I kind of...forgot? 😄 That soundbar video was back in my early days of running this channel, so I was still getting the hang of a lot of things. I'm STILL learning, but I am much better than I was. 😁

      @@ealanosborne if possible in future can you compare Sony HT-A7000 and Sony HT-A9. Both of these are highend sony soundbars and its hard to choose one over the other without understanding how they differ(and how they can be extended to different config like 7.1.2). Your expertise would really help.

    Given that the soundbar comes with two built-in subwoofers - what happens when pairing the SW3 Sub? Do they stop working or do they handle different sound frequencies?

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there must be some sort of compensation done when the SW3 is in the mix. But honestly, the bar itself can’t even reach sub bass territory, so there aren’t many frequencies that end up overlapping anyway. I’d recommend a sub anyway, if you’re planning on using it mostly for TV and movie watching. 😎

And if I’m watching something in Apple TV or playing games the sound bar/ sw and rear speaker gonna turn on automatic?

  • @archwaytech
    @archwaytech 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice Review Ealan! Seems like this bar is in direct competition to the Sonos Beam Gen 2. It’s good that they allow you to connect their surrounds and sub to build out a bigger system. I’ll still be stick to the beam in my bedroom. 😊

      If you want to go the Sony or Samsung way, the only way to do it is to get their top of the line soundbar. Like Sony HT-A7000 or Samsung Q990C. If you have less budget and looking for a midrange soundbar then never buy Sony, Samsung or LG. Their midrange soundbars are garbage. Go with Bose or Sonos for midrange soundbars.

    Interesting en well reviewed video, thank you. I am still in doubt to buy the Sony set (HT-A3000 + SA-RS5 + SA-SW5) or the Sonos set (Beam Gen2 + One SL (2x) + Sub G3)
    For me it must be good for cinematic experience but also important to listen to music. What set would you prefer ?

      I currently have a Sonos Beam and two SL Ones as surrounds and for what it’s worth, it sounds really good - especially with music. If you have an iPhone and can do the Trueplay, it’s pretty remarkable what it can do to improve the sound in your space. And whatever they’ve done with their tech sounds amazing when you listen to music. 👍

      Few months back. It’s dope AF. Worth every penny now that I have a field recorder now, too. Even that Sennheiser mic still sounds “just okay” directly plugged into the camera since you’re relying on the camera’s internal recording components…which aren’t that great at all.

  • @kenshinesca

    They really don't make this soundbar too enticing with this price point in my opinion. You're better off getting a used Samsung Q950T or better yet the q950A. It's nice they offer upgradabiltiy but they charge too much for what you're getting.

  • @Lowkey_nxthxn

    And dolby in Apple Music doesn’t really use the center channel. They use the left and right speaker for the dialogue. But every sound effect are in the surround channels and height speakers but the center channel is left out. For the most part. There’s a album that takes advantage of all the speakers correctly.
    Which is Meek Mill album title called Championships. Atmos music would sound so much better if they mixed there songs using the center channel and that’s only the album that takes advantage of it.
    I recommend you check out that album so you know what I’m talking about.

    Up firing speakers or not. It's all virtual atmos speakers. Those speakers are not that directional and by themselves they'll sound nowhere like comming from above but compared to speakers directed towards you the height is lifted a little. In any case they depend on some clever DSP processing to trick your brain into think it's comming from above. It's possible because you only have two eardrums but the shape of your ears have an impact on how the sound is hitting your eardrums. Psychoacoustics

      😂 that is a good one, however,
      Separates of today compared to separates of the 70’s is quite a different situation. Everything nowadays is getting more and more refined and streamlined. The soundbars are getting better, but are still light years behind the sound quality of a receiver and a couple of speakers. You can’t go wrong with a receiver and two bookshelf or two floorstanding speakers. Soundbars are like MP3’s were to CD. MP3’s were convenient and quick, however very compressed and the sound quality wasn’t on par with a CD.
      I would urge you really test out a soundbar, a receiver and eventually going all separates. The difference is night and day and immediate when you listen to a pre/pro and a couple of amps driving those speakers.
      The price for separates is still pricey though, if something breaks, it’s a massive chunk out of the wallet. So a $200 soundbar wins in the end on cost for replacement.

    Bought this and instant regret. Only time this soundbar sounds good is while playing 4K Dolby Atmos movies. Rest while watching 1080p or non-atmos content its sucks so bad. The dialog is so quiet. Increasing the dailog with VOICE ON feature makes it audible but the background sounds get suppressed. And God forbid if you turn on the "Sound Field" option, its sounds so artificial and boxy. Playing music is a complete NO in low to mid volumes. In short, I want to throw this away.

    No connection to this video, sorry about that.
    I think you should take a look in this video from Home Theater Gurus (his latest). th-cam.com/video/kGZsrU4oNAM/w-d-xo.html
    He knows a lot about building home theaters and his videos helped immensly, simply by showing that a lot of things I thought were right just could be done way better.
    Following his instructions transformed my home theater and I hope you can get some wow moments as well.
