I really respect your openness towards the end of the video. I think you speak for a lot of developers when you say it’s easy to feel like you’re getting left behind. Keeping up with the changes can be quite challenging and people like yourself make it easier for us to digest those changes so thank you for your hard work and great content! ❤
So basically, you're removing React Hook Form to add Conform. Also, if you want notifications, you'll need to use useEffect. How would you handle select components? In all the examples I found, I only saw inputs and text areas. By the way, thank you for keeping us updated with new stuff! I'm learning so much from you. 🚀
Hehe, yes - select's or file inputs makes this approach useless. There is an open issue about resetting select's state on react's github - in next 3 years - millions of react developers will end up reading comments in that issue when they find out about this behaviour and then will go back to onSubmit cursing about wasted time.
I watched Aurora for the first time when she talked the JavaScript Conf 2024, when she talked not only about forms but also some useful React hooks like useOptimistic. Very good video, I didn't know that Conform lib, good to know it is friendly with Remix.
Hi great video, I have to try it. But one question how to initialize form with data from a read action? As a props of component and load outside or inside the component?
Great video. I'm looking forward to two videos following this one: 1. How to use this Conform library. 2. Given that the server side will create an open endpoint, which could be a security vulnerability, how would we validate a token or something that proves the caller is an authenticated user?
The new way is nice and leverages the web standards, but I dont think it "kills" react-hook-form. I dont see a way of using the React 19 being powerful enough to support interactive and complex forms. Then you have to rely again on another library to power up the UX. Does Conform work with JS disabled?
i always use react hook form for complex stuff like multi step form stat management with useformcontext and on react native side controlled form these new things aren't mature enough for that much

Very insightful conversation 👍

How can you load html before js in react? Are you talking specifically for next?
