I recently used this technique to build new fixed ports on my boat from 1/4" acrylic sheet and it worked very well. To get the edges real clean and dead on accurate in some areas I used a router and top bearing trim bit guided by a straight edge.

    1. I use a rail guide which makes it much smoother and easier.
    2. Don’t go too slow while cutting, the blade could start melting the plexiglass if you don’t move quick enough. I’m using a 80 tooth blade.

I think the tape on top of the cutting surface stops the semi melted material from adhering to the piece. It comes and sits on the tape, can't reweld it never retouches the material. just a thought.
bob semper fi great video thanks. [ years ago early 80's I tried to put a large piece of plexiglass pretty thick through a table saw by my self.... It stored up a "bunch" of energy and Jumped up off the table and I shoved it out of the way of the blade. Lucky I was not hurt, and material only chipped a corner off, but wholly cow, I found Jesus.
