I met Chester many years ago at NAMM. I asked him about his drumheads he used live with Genesis. He said. Kick PS3 coated Snare Ambassador coated Toms Ambassador clear On this video it sounds like his toms are tuned high and his Snare is tuned medium. Excellent video btw.
I think the best recorded live example of that snare is the bootleg from the Astrodome concert. After hearing that, I wish who ever did the sound mix for the live albums would've found a way to incorporate that big live snare sound into the final version. The soundboard version just doesn't do it justice
Thompson's kit during the 1990 Tour was a 11-piece 'Sonor SIGNATURE MAKASSAR EBONY' (6 Sabian HH and 2 Sabian AA cymbals) / Collins' was a 8-piece 'Sonor HILITE BLACK' (7 Sabian AA cymbals) / Hope I've been of some help...
i am pretty sure that those are Ambassador, not Emperor. I got Pin Stripe on top, and Ambassador on bottom on my SONOR Signature drum set, and it sound much more dry. than the one of chester.

I love this kit
We also love it @macmasks
Chester also used a Sonor drum kit on the Serious Hits...Live! tour.
Possibly, this very same kit.
@@henriqueccruz Except that was black. Probably a Hilite. It had a really powerful sound unlike his DW drum kit.
@@jaggass no it was the same finish as this. Pretty sure it's this kit. There's a close up of the kit on the sleeve of the serious hits CD
@@henriqueccruz sure is

@DWH072 the Pearl kit sounded great indeed
Brilliant
Yes :)
Before you do your next vid please take some English lessons. It really hurts.
How to make yourself sound like a complete arse 101.
Shut up
Nope.
He wasn't talking to you
Appalling comment - anyone who speaks a 2nd language needs encouragement, not your type of crap. I understood everything he said.
