The EA888 is one of the greatest engines ever developed. You can hardly get so much power, torque and fun combined with a relative low consumption anywhere else. In addition, the EA888 is a very reliable engine since the late Gen 2 model (end-2011 and newer). There is only one thing that you really need to have in mind with this engine: Do not even think of a Longlife oil change interval! This is the only way you can really harm this engine. As long as you give this engine a proper maintenance, you can drive it to the limit regularly and it will still last for a very long time.
All i have to say is this gen 3 is one smooth engine. Most people that get into my GTI ask at a stop if the engine is running or not. (I never use auto stop/start hate it) Very smooth power delivery as well. It's not perfect but don't know of a perfect engine from any manufacturers. Sure some fan boys of this brand or that brand will make claims but all engines out today have an Achilles heel somewhere.
@@eppyz I fixed that by getting myself a non res Cobra Sport catback (thankfully mk7 models dont have OPF) Wont help engine noise, but it sure as heck compensates esp on my larger 3inch GTI Clubsport pipes. I suppose your talking of less vibrations in engine as somthing built with better tolerances though? Kinda new to how engines work.
@@tredfxman yes talking about a bone stock 2020 GTI. Engine runs so smooth... My MK6 did too. Though the 7.5 does idle allot rougher on cold start vs my MK6. That even after the software update🤔 The idle reminds me of my Lancer Evo 9 idle on cold start.
If you’ve ever worked on these engines, as I have…you’ll know that the ease at which he removed the crank bolt and the ignition coils is a straight up lie 💀
I have this engine in my Atlas. I drove a 6 cyl Atlas and it felt like I was pulling a trailer. The 2.0 torque comes on much faster and is pretty flat making it fun to drive without really stepping into it. I plan on going stage 1 soon .
Bonjour j'ai le moteur ea888gen2 moteur CDNC le défaut de consommation huile quelle est la référence des pistons ea888gen3 j'aimerais remplacer cela avant que cela arrive sur mon véhicule
rt re European version has multi point injection. This means it is both port injection and direct injection, port injection prevents carbon build up. Known to be a reliable engine. Every design has its issues but they have vastly improved upon previous generation ea888 engines

I guess you’re not a VW tech, like me! Pure garbage!
Why no longlife oil? I service mine every 12 months
@@MyEyesBledhi, why is he saying no longlife oil
@@philpots3216he means that you must change oil every 12 months or 5000-8000 miles

If yours has the GPF/OPF it will be as quiet as a Corolla at idle.
@@wrblue08 actually while running the db's per motor trend at idle for a 2020 GTI is quieter than a Corolla anyway haha

Me neither it destroys battery life an unnecessary strain on starters.. And these things aren't cheap.. An outright con

It's not as long as you got his tools

Stage 1 is a dream in this engine only thing I hate is that I have to do the valve cleaning.
This engine on a Stage 1 remap is ridiculously good.
Mine is 2.0 tfsi ea888 gen3 CWZ
I’m glad it’s a dual injection system
@MIGHTY MQB 8 injectors, you can see the 2 ports injection
Only in Europe sadly
@@AgentOffice yes I wish it was in more areas. I would guess the second set of injectors help keep the air valves clean.
The valves stay clean 😍😍
I really want to see someone remove the vibration damper bolt with so little force
Paul Hood i know right? in reality he would be bouncing up and down with a breaker bar.
And probably need 2 people.😂
Why is kurzgesagt’s narrator telling me about a Volkswagen engine ?
Hahahahaha I thought the same thing.
Are there more film from volkswagen on this Chanel and does anyone can provide same original video from volkswagen regarding 1.4 TSI engine from 2011?
It is the same procedurre for a 1.8 tsi ? i have a jetta 2014
Excelente trabajo
These are great engines, however, quite complex.
Classic German over-engineering to screw the customer into relying on the dealership to repair everything at an over priced rate.
Thanks sir
Good
Is this gen 3 more reliable
2014 cc r lin tsi 2.0 can I swap the engine for 2014 Passat tsi 1.8
As an old VW fan I won’t buy any of these because of special tools, what were they to stupid to design them without all this rubbish.
is a 2011 audi a4 gen 1 or 2?

Change pistons to upgraded 2012 models.
Das hard to work on
HAHAHAHAHA
That coil remover is a con, it only goes in the hole, you still pull on the pack the same as holding it with fingers, why con people.
So, what happens if you do turn the crankshaft in the opposite direction of engine rotation?
Chain gets loose and will jump time
Universe will implode
@@szili76I love you
Hopefully I'll never need to actually use this video
Code cdnc. Yes or No

The only thing I HATE about it is that stupid plastic oil pan.
Stupid plastic oil pan is not the worst, the rubber gasket at the edge of plastic pan last only 4 years, start leaking.
and bad chain tensioners and engine coking

Gen 2 better.
I don't think so. Gen 2 had the oil consumption issue and the chain tensioner failure.

It looks so easy when the engine isn't attached to anything else. Hahahaha
