i live in kent and i was so upset when they shut down this location. being that it opened in 1966, it was likely one of the first few arbys restaurants. It used to have a huge neon sign out front, and the atmosphere inside was so cool, absolutely a step back in time. i haven’t gone to the new one out of spite, lol. really hope somebody saves it though, neat history for sure
I wish Arbys would bring back this kind of decor. At least they're still around. There are only two in my town but they're doing well. The drive-thru at one location ALWAYS has a car or two waiting.
Hey Wallie....glad to see you came to Kent. I was the person who suggested you come to see the old Arby's. And I see you found a couple of other places nearby....
A buddy of mine lived in some apartments just off of campus. We made the walk to this Arby's more times than I can count for about 2 years. So I was shocked by how sad I was for a closed Arby's when my wife and I drove just before this video dropped so i was able to share this video with him.
The old-style giant cowboy hat sign used to be in front. This was one of the early Arby's ... I went there often ... The new restaurant is just down the road ...
We had one just like this in Louisville Kentucky in the 1960 and 1970s. It was in a location hard to get to so by 1976 the year i was born they built another one across the street that is a four laine traffic 🚦 light. Thanks for sharing this, bring back memories.
Arby's is my 16 year old cat Sasha's favorite restaurant. I can't say the word "Arby's" around her without her going nuts! I don't go there a lot but I always go there for her birthday.
I grew up in Rootstown Ohio I remember the sign they had out front. It was actually huge and not low to the ground. It was an original Arby's sign, very nostalgic. When you get a chance Google it and take a look at the sign it's pretty cool to see.shaped like a hat.
It’s cool has the old cowboy hat sign like the one in Johnstown pa I ate at but the boring shoe box building is at the laurel one while the one in Johnstown still open has the cowboy hat sign but a 90s style building.
There were once three locations like this in Las Vegas, NV. Two have shut down and one still remains in North Las Vegas. Also, there appears to be an old Red Barn about a block down, across the street. As for the great sign, it appears to have been removed around 2016-17 according to Google Maps.
This one for a long time had the cowboy hat sign until they got the new logo before they moved. The one in Johnstown Pennsylvania still has the cowboy hat sign off of scalp ave it’s still opened :). Ate at it before and it was good. Someone recently filmed it and said they moved it by the raising canes that opened. The look to this Arby’s is nice since it has characters. It’s an amazing building thanks for filming.
Looks supremely comfy. My whole life i’ve only known Florida. Never been to Midwest before these old buildings are so beautiful. I’d turn it into a shop. Wonder if Kent needs a locksmith 😅
I knew you would love this building if you came and saw it. Fun fact... The U haul building you pass on the right side of the road on route 59 right before you cross into stow on the way to the Meijer store was once a Roy Rogers roast beef restaurant.
Wow amazing video. Love this video wallie thank you so much for sharing I appreciate it. I’m glade I found you as a really great person and great channel
I once stopped at a long ago closed restaurant and when I went around the back there was a shed with lots and lots of clean dishes, plates, trays and silverware just sitting there, for years........Looked like they ran everything thru the dishwasher one last time and then packed it away. Must have been thousands of dollars back there in utensils and such.
The old Arby's buildings were meant to replicate an old west chuck wagon. if you would remove the suspended ceiling you would see the original curved ceiling. they really had character back in the day.
At least by me there IS an old charactered Wendy's within walking distance of me that seems to still be in operation. Gotta hope they still allow dine-in, though.
I'd never been in that one before to know it was like that in there even though I've been downthrough there, I'd rather eat at one of the coffee shops or at the Euro Gyro if I'm there but Arbys is a viable option during the happy hour. A buffalo chicken slider and the green milkshake would be getting it going on or potentially even the chocolate turn over if they still have that.
You may want to check out Mike's Place, 1700 S. Water St., Kent, Ohio 44340 for a very unique experience. Also, you get to see a galactic fighter plane up-close parked right outside the restaurant. IF you look them up online you can see their menu and specials. Open 7 days a week 7am to 9 pm. Worth a thought next time you are in the Kent, Ohio area. Adventure on!!
I dunno if you keep up on comments or not, but I have some bad news. They just tore this old Arby's down a couple of weeks ago. I live in next town over and my parents used to go here and eat when I was a kid.
This one used to have one of the old giant Cowboy hat Arbys neon signs. I'd see it every time we went through Kent. Looked so cool at night.

I love the aesthetics! What a classic building! ❤
I have to agree with you. Like older stuff better then how some places look today. Ty for another great video
I love the look of this building
I wish Arbys would bring back this kind of decor. At least they're still around. There are only two in my town but they're doing well. The drive-thru at one location ALWAYS has a car or two waiting.
The tile in the dining area had a pattern that looked like a steer head. Love this design.
I still see older Arby's once in awhile with the cowboy hat signs, classes.
Hey Wallie....glad to see you came to Kent. I was the person who suggested you come to see the old Arby's. And I see you found a couple of other places nearby....
First was Ames , now Arby’s, dam theses places are dropping like flies 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Great job Wallie B26
This one is a rare gem! You don't see Arby's like these anymore! Character on buildings is fading away.
i love their super roast beef sandwiches. i also used to work there about 27 years ago.
I ate there in the early 90s. It was old then as well.
That was a fun design.
I love Arbys ❤❤❤❤ the best roast beef. I like the older buildings

The last standing Arthur Treachers is not far from there in Cuyahoga Falls on State Rd. Worth it for nostalgia.
The old-style giant cowboy hat sign used to be in front. This was one of the early Arby's ... I went there often ... The new restaurant is just down the road ...
This building was torn down on June 12. Word is a pizza place may go in there. Kent already has 11 pizza shops !!!!
As always great video 👍

This looks like the old Arby’s in Alliance. Last time I drove through there it was still standing but isn’t an Arby’s anymore.
Wow, you still have that yellow car 😊
Used to live at Whitehall Terrace apartments. Last time I saw this Arby's, I was inside ordering. They had run out of roast beef that day.
Wow awesome Find Wallie This one was Great Thanks again for sharing this video wallie :D
I was looking at this abandoned Arby’s on google maps earlier today
Great video, great jacket too by the way
There’s still one with original signage in Laurel Maryland on Route 1
It’s cool has the old cowboy hat sign like the one in Johnstown pa I ate at but the boring shoe box building is at the laurel one while the one in Johnstown still open has the cowboy hat sign but a 90s style building.
@@adamsATSfan415 That’s cool, yes this one does have a newer building but the sign is original. I was born in Johnstown in the fifties.
vintage arbys

I enjoy watching your videos
I agree with you. Love the classic buildings. Thanks for documenting this building. Great video has always 🍀
Looks supremely comfy. My whole life i’ve only known Florida. Never been to Midwest before these old buildings are so beautiful. I’d turn it into a shop. Wonder if Kent needs a locksmith 😅
Very cool
Sounds like you should possibly consider buying that building Wally sounds like you have big plans for it there
Another abandoned arbys similar to this one is in north olmsted ohio its one of the earliest locations and they rebuilt right next to it
Yes the driveway is near impossible to get into that one in or out! Lol reminds me totally of this one here!
Hello! I live in Kent and don’t live too far from that Arby’s. My moms yoga studio was closed from COVID and it’s like right across from there
I knew you would love this building if you came and saw it. Fun fact... The U haul building you pass on the right side of the road on route 59 right before you cross into stow on the way to the Meijer store was once a Roy Rogers roast beef restaurant.
the arbys near me was the 2003 style, it closed in december, but the other one in town is from 99/00 and it still has neon!
The old Arby's in Kent move to the new Arby's right next to Raising Cane's and across from Dollar General & Gabe's in Kent.
Cool 😎
Great find. Probably 1970s
Wow amazing video. Love this video wallie thank you so much for sharing I appreciate it. I’m glade I found you as a really great person and great channel
Yeah, that was another old vintage one. Thanks buddy.
They are building a Rascal house pizza where this was. The one in Cuyahoga falls that is still in business is an old time looking arby's.
I've never seen an Arby's look like that before
Wow, you still have that yellow car
Hey there WallieB26 there is an Abandoned McDonald's in Adak Alaska that is just a complete time capsule
I once stopped at a long ago closed restaurant and when I went around the back there was a shed with lots and lots of clean dishes, plates, trays and silverware just sitting there, for years........Looked like they ran everything thru the dishwasher one last time and then packed it away. Must have been thousands of dollars back there in utensils and such.
the groundhog didn't say how early, or how soon we would get it. But here in Houston it was 82 degrees.
Awesome Wallie
There is an abandoned Wendy’s in Louisville Ky on Westport Rd.
that looks so cool
There's a Abandoned Arby's in Hebron KY attached to a bank.
Great video as always appreciate the hard work on your videos

Thanks wallie
He had one of those old giant cowboy hat arbys it too is abandoned. Check it out. It's in cudahy off Packard ave
I believe my mother used to work at this Arby's back when she was in college in the 1980s.
The old Arby's buildings were meant to replicate an old west chuck wagon. if you would remove the suspended ceiling you would see the original curved ceiling. they really had character back in the day.
Ruby Tuesdays in Suffolk,VA is permanently closed
I watched this on a 70 degree day in Erie, PA where you were recently.
Old school buildings are definitely better than shoe box buildings
Wallies Burgers 🍔 coming soon! Who’s with me. Let’s start a petition guys!!
Cool video
What's up man! It's been a while since I watched one of your videos
Should do a video here in Florida sometime
You didn't see much of this back when😢.
There's a vintage arbys not far from me that has been repurposed as an ice cream shop many years ago
Another part of my childhood gone.

I miss Roy Rogers

Very classic
I noticed the kmart vent at 5:25

I've eaten at that one a while back .
wow i was literally about to do a video here also and i drove past it and they literally just demolished it 😢
I believe this location opened in 1966
ARBYS name was once thought to stand for R-Bs (Roast Beef) when it actually stands for RAFFEL BROTHERS (Leroy and Forrest) the original founders.
Wanted to give you an update, as of a few weeks ago it’s been torn down.
not "kent" but rather Franklin Township. The reason they shut this location down is because the opened a brand new location just blocks away.
350th Like? Let's FLIPPING go! Yeah, something tells me this probably relocated and became a shoebox restaurant somewhere else nearby? Mleh.
Arby's We Have the Meat's
Arby’s moved to a new building
Someone with money and a good politician and a good crew you'll see it bring in $🤔
Me too 1:19

I also filmed this one
Also love a good Rockne’s Terminator
Who was the guy behind your car at 1:45

It's an original Arby's
I liked Rax Better
Wallie, what is up with your voice? It sounds like you are battling a sore throat.
Hate to tell you but they demolished it.
You not missing out Arbys suck food is bad and I got sick of eating Arbys roast beef sandwich I never go back
Just drove by this the other day.. and was surprised to see that it’s been leveled! For now, it’s been reduced to a gravel lot!
That's a shame.
Wallie, rank Arby's compared to Rax"s?
I love Arby’s. I’ll be sad if mine closes.
